  2. And we are the infidels?
  3. Freestyle Bull tricks were the precursor to freestyle moto-cross trick of today. In poorer countries Freestyle Bull or Bull Sitting is still practiced in leu of motorcycles. The trick shown above by Javiar Jose Taco "Chupacabra" Domingo Flamingo Juarez is called the Blind Superman or the "Pink Taco" after Jesus "The Pink Taco" Juanitto was killed in a tragic bull milking accident. This trick rates a 9.3 on the difficulty scale and is only performed by the best Bull Sitters out there.
  4. There really is no handicap perse, but with an RDS you can allow the wing to flatten out a little more to produce more lift and less drag. This only helps out on smalle highly loaded canopies in competitive swooping, ant that is my whole point! An RDS on a big canopy is going to do NOTHING for you.
  5. "He's not asking about an RDS, but a removable slider - everyone else chimed in talking about the RDS. " Those are one in the same. The only difference between a full rds and a removable slider is about 10' of dacron line attached to various locations on the slider and the bag. "The main thing I can see would be the longer "stow time" of a removable slider - would you agree?" Dropping the thing is a distinct possibility and an expensive mistake. Also you will need to sew some pockets on all of your jump suits to accomodate the slider, and that = more $.
  6. "Are you talking a complete system, or just a removable slider." Yes these are pretty much one in the same. Sure you can rig it correctly, but realize that it is another failure point to a proven method of operation. "I am very methodical in the way that I handle my gear." That's nice, but so am I. This does not preclude you or I from fucking it up though. Again why would you want to add another 4 possible failure points to your system that works just fine? What are you gaining? More visibility? I am quite sure that your canopy is not racing around the sky so fast in a high traffic situation like a swoop contest that you cannot make a small turn to see what minimal arear that your slider blocks. Maybe you caould work on rolling your slider tighter. "People with no jumps are trusted to work as packers for tandems, "under the supervision of a rigger". Jump numbers don't come into play in that situation." Correct, but just like you said... These people are NOT jumping. There is a difference between wadding material up and piloting it. I just do not see where an RDS will make your life so much better that you want to spend over $300 for one when you can invest that money better on jump tickets or a retirement account. I also do not think that you are going to get much support from other jumpers using RDS's either because of the reasons I have already listed. Good luck.
  7. Removable sliders do have a lot of bennefits for those who are going fast under canopy, but if you are jumping a bigger canopy (like those who have 115 jumps should be doing) an RDS is not advisable. Please think long and hard about the additional risks (and there are a lot) versus the rewards (very few for your jump numbers) in using an RDS. If you are not jumping a competitive canopy then you do NOT need an RDS. Unfortunately some people here are taking what the competitive swoopers are saying out of context. RDS's are great for competitive swooping and yes thay can be used for everyday jumping, but if you make the slightest rigging mistake with one the results can be dissaterous! You can be seriously injured of even killed. Please do not take any more additional risks in an allready dangerous sport. 99.9% of the people here DO NOT NEED an RDS and if you are interested in using one for anything other than the speed gains for competitive swooping then you are using the RDS for something other than its intended purpose and are venturing down a path of becoming a test jumper. NO manufacturer offers RDS's for sale. These are purely aftermarket products and you take all the risk when purchasing them. I also hope that no aftermarket company that makes and selld RDS's will sell them to someone with 115 jumps. 1000+ jumps and someone who competes in the CPC or other swooping events would be a good person to sell one to, but not to some one with 115 jumps. Spend your money on jump tickets dude and get some experience.

I think Roadhouse is a much better movie than Top Gun...
  11. The music of Zamfir just makes me all teary eyed...
  12. As speed doubles drag is squared if I recall correctly. I feel that canopy design is advancing quite a bit faster than pilot skill at this time. The human element is always the last to catch up to technology. Mel you are beginning to sound as cryptic as Lord Slaton with your secrecy. hahahaaa Announcements at PIA is one thing, but releasing the product to the public is another. I think that the manufacturers may introduce some high speed low drag shit, but you and I will not see it on the market for years. Lord Slaton was jumping some sort of iteration of the JVX for quite awhile before it was sold publicly. I have also heard of PD products being jumped with amazing capabilities, but I challenge you to get one of those guys to talk without doing some Jack Baurer shit to them! I bet if you administered the truth serum to Jay Moledski all you would get out of him would be: "The new product is sweet, and by sweet I mean totally awesome!" Also what is this technology going to do for the average weekend jumper who jumps a spectre 170? Do you think that welded seams, or thinner material is going to be an advantage to the dude who makes three jumps every month so he can badge himself as a skydiver? I'm sure PD's and Daedulous's and other manufacturers' high performance stuff is a surprisingly small amount of their sales. TO take this thought to it's logical conclusion, I think that the truely qualified people who are jumping the current high performance stuff to it's fullest potential is even less than the amount of people buying them! Velocities and JVX's may be outswooped by the "Next Big Thing" but if those who are winning on these canopies jumped the next big thing then they would probably win on that too.
  13. I have laid out a 96 velocity and a 96 jvx. The jvx had more span but a little less chord. I will compare an 89 jvx and a 90 velocity soon.
