  2. I rushed it so I could jump into my wedding. Had all of the jump numbers/requirements, just not the water training and I hadn't looked at my SIM in seven years. All is well, got a 100 on the B 100 on the C and 100 on the D and my wedding is a go! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  3. Last weekend at mile-hi in Longmont CO I did my first camera out of the balloon videoing a two way. I exited facing in, while the two exited out. I did alright leaving perfectly right after their set (could've honestly waited a good fraction of a second later) but almost lost it going over backwards (i.e. if you look at the video, while I did keep it all framed up, my feet definately poach some frames). I'm just wondering if there was anything I could've done differently to keep myself less head down and more on my back like perhaps bending my knees putting my feet down to the earth?? Man was it fun tho! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  4. "hooks are fun and definately a crowd pleaser when done right, but the best speed comes from a long carving turn." Forget about the crowd. The crowd caused me to leave a five inch divot where my face hit when I had 220 jumps thinking I could handle all aspects of high performance landings. Do it for yourself and no one else. Learn how to swoop slowly with someone who is more proficient there to guide you. At 200 jumps I used to 180 it in all the time until I bounced it in. I'm barely back up to a nice carving 120 and usually only do a ninety. I still get decent surfs (especially up here at alti)... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

  8. DANG IT!@#$!#$#@$ I had 8 in a row before - didn't even think of it! Of course I would've had to have thought about it before the first one anyhow... Thanks for the info yall. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

  13. Amazing! I remember back in my schooling days going over to Baxter and they were using this crazy machine to do something along those lines. Doctors would send in 3d scans of various things, like for instance a skull. They'd port the 3d scan into this machine and press the go button. There was this pool of liquid that a laser would make passes over and slowly out of the liquid would emerge a plastic replica of what the scan was. I was blown away! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

Man I seen that - it is a freakin riot!!!!! Did you see that snoop dogg website translator? I'll see if I can find that one - its funny as all get out as well... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  15. MO (MapObjects) is actually pretty darn neat - just picked it up a couple of months ago. http://www.esri.com/software/mapobjects/index.html Its very extensible in mucho languages... M$ is so much fun sometimes aint it??? -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  16. Is it ten declared in a row less than 1m to target? i.e. Whats the process i.e. I'm too lazy to look it up and am interested in getting mine... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  17. Its great to be living in CO. Its great to know all of you without even meeting most of you. Its great that I've met so many different types of amazing people young and old in the sport of skydiving. Its great that its almost the weekend! Its great that I know alot of jumpers will be jumping this weekend while I'll probably be working. )-: -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  18. Yah I use dot net all over the place... Unfortunately, my issue has more to do with Esri's MapObjects which basically allows one to build spatial apps. It is dot net extensible but the DOE which is our client hasn't approved dot net (man that would save us some time and money and them too - MORONS )... Anyhow - thanks all for your responses, its good to know I'm not the only one out there pulling hair out every once and awhile. Jumping necessary - coding not I've been putting in 70+ hour weeks for three weeks in a row now to figure this dang problem out and its just not happening and I'm starting to feel way inadequate. Maybe the weekend will help out and thanks again all! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  19. Right on - thanks! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  20. I don't know that what I'm doing is a dead end since its never been done in the environmental science world ever - but I've just never run into an issue this difficult and have no one to turn to because of the fact that its never been done before... But hey - I'm starting to think that maybe my brain could be utilized in a "more fun" fashion whilst still getting a decent salary doin somethin else! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

  22. The problem is object management between four different languages and I just cannot get my head around it. I'm working in VB6, MapObjects, built a custom C++ grid solution as well as some Java and I just cannot keep track of what is what and where what belongs anymore. I think I'm right on the cusp of either becoming a really advanced programmer or jumping off of the local 100 foot tower wo a canopy (not serious)... btw - "Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes" - nice... Its just getting to the point where I'm running out of steam and I've never felt like that before. I've generally always found a solution. Heck, I have seriously dreamed/nightmared about this code three out of four nights this week rofl... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  23. I was pondering this thread on the way into work today and have always wondered something. Why is it that we as Americans (and probably alot of other countries as well) feel the need to stick out noses in over there when the problems over there go back way before any of us even existed as people or as a country. I guess what I'm getting at is, it never seems to help when we try to help out, it only seems to hurt. Why don't we just butt out and let them figure it out? I'm not trying to be rash or crass here, but seriously, do people over in Palestine and Israel really even want any of our help? Consider me a dumb American when it comes to issues in the middle east... Blue ones! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  24. In your careers, have you ever run into such a daunting problem that you've felt like you are no longer adequate as a programmer and should get the heck out of the business?? I've been writing professional code for eight years and have never felt like that until this week. I just can't solve this dang problem and its starting to mess with my mind quite a bit to the point where its interfering with my normal everyday work progress. I've tried everything out there, but the fact of the matter is, the code/solution I'm building has never really been done before. How did you deal with it? Work more?? Take a step back?? I just cannot seem to get over the hump... All I want to do is jump... (lol maybe I could be a rapper instead of a coder LOLOL)... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  25. Yeah that kind of bums me out - here I am purchasing this sick digital camera and I have to jimmy up a bit switch? Oh well - as long as it works thats all I really care about! One more question for any 10D owners out there - how is that camera handling free fall? Any glitches?? Not being a camera man for hire (i.e. noobee) I'm not to worried about it, but I'm just curious how it handles alti and the winds etc... Thanks all! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
