  1. "Use your eyes get a visual of where you are at altitude wise. Repeat at at least three times." Couldn't agree with you more. Why do you think that they teach you look at alti look at groun in AFF. The BEST alti is your eyes, its also the least likely to go out of whack when practiced regularly. I personally know of three jumpers who haven't jumped with an alti in over 10 years and do just fine because they use their eyes - and BTW - they are all kick ass any style flyers and swoopers. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  2. "By the idiot TSA agent who doesn't know what a parachute is pulling on things he shouldn't be pulling on!!!" I'd personally rather see the idiot too inquisitive about something than not enough. Period. Maybe it will save my ass from the next 911. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  3. Yah - bottomline is YOU are in charge of yourself when participating in ANY sport there is. While there is some worth to the fact that perhaps the loaner didn't explain what was up to the loanee in terms of gear, it really doesn't matter. The person should've asked. "If I borrow a car, and there is an extra peddle on the floor, I ask what the hell it is before I start the motherfucker..." 4. Dried the heck out of it - its been 48 hours... )-: -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  5. Its actually harder to ride a snowboard on flatter terrain. When we train for gates, we do a great deal of flatter ground carving excersises. I don't think canopy flying in any way mimics learning snowboarding in that aspect. One can learn a ton on lightly loaded canopy and NOT bang themselves into the ground when they make a mistake. One can also learn a ton on a higher loaded canopy but WILL bang themselves into the ground hard when making a mistake. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  6. After doing some snowboarding video this weekend, my camera is acting very very funny. I turn it on to Video mode to record whatever, focus isn't working and where the timeline normally sits is E61:00 flashing. I haven't looked in my Sony manual yet, but I imagine its not good. Might anyone know what this error means? Might anyone know what kind of warranty I might have with that camera (its only a year old)... Thanks to all in advance! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  7. Going to miss my favorite boogie )-: I have to get married, but luckily, me and three of my closest friends are jumping into my wedding so it will be Lost Prarie substitue this year. Have fun and see you next year! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

  9. Sure - but come on 12 grand on the top of a freakin mountain where I highly doubt there are towers all over the freakin place... Bringing cell phone with me tomorrow on jump because I don't buy the 3000 AGL law. And what about 14ers here in Colorado, technically I am above 3000 AGL considering many of them have 4000 of vertical to cover to get to the top... OOPs, I see riddler has covered that issue... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  10. Are you freakin serious? Galye freakin Sayers?????? Your story really hits home for me, did my share of partyin down at SIU not to mention I'm a Bears fan unfortunately. All I can say is, my jaw is dropped and I can't say squat! Not to mention your LA BASE story. Simply unreal. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  11. That's odd - I was just camping above Aspen Colorado at 11,452 feet and made numerous calls out on my celly... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  12. I'm with you Rat - People look at me all the time 10 years in the sport and only 500 jumps to boot. I went through three major injuries during those ten years. Just the fact that I have been around the sport for ten years and think about it all the time is worth alot. I can still get on a smoakin 8 way and hold my own only averaging 45 jumps a year over the past two years. You learn alot from listening to people, visualizing (i.e. daydreaming at work), and just being exposed to the saftey factors... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  13. I've done it successfully three times out of an otter, the way we did it was to put three in the door, the raft sorta inside between the three and a fourth person actually inside, we then sorta just wrestled it out the door - it worked everytime... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  14. Don't be skeeeerrrrrrrred (I love that werd) -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

  17. Looks like I should just bite the bullet and get a miniDV deck eh? Wonder how much those go for (looking now........) HOLY MOLY! Better start savin (average around a grand)... Thanks again Cajones! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  18. So in my case having no edit deck, my edit deck would be my actual camera?? I wonder if I can just go from an S out on my video card into my viewing monitor.... Hey and thanks again Cajones - I'll do a search tonight in Premeire for that setting - didn't put too much effort into it the night before last as the beers had gotten the better of me ;-) -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  19. Lemme tell yah - the drive from LP to WFFC is a very very long one - two daysish... Me personally? I love the outdoors and stuff, so I've spent my entire week up in LP. I've only been to wffc once and while it was a great time, I just felt like LP was way more personal and had a chance to really get to know alot of people up there. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  20. Sure enough - duh! Thought about it, tried it, you are definately correct. That's the biggest reason I am against myself getting into BASE - sometimes (most of the time) I have a very hard time learning new rigging techniques and visualizing them. 22. Hey Cajones - I guess I misquestioned to begin with, my real question is how to go about setting premeire up to: "Preview is done through the edit deck" What do you mean, do you have like SVideo coming out from your video card into the sony monitor? Thanks a bunch man! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  23. If you practice safety you can generally avoid any kind of incident - I certainly have for my 10 years in the sport. It really is a very safe sport if you do an odds type of comparison - maybe you should quit driving in a car if you really want to be safe. You have to do what YOU want with YOUR life to be happy, and I know that if I didn't find skydiving, I wouldn't have met so many wonderful people, seen so many beautiful places, and had literally some of the most memorable moments I've ever had. Not boasting here, but I've had a pretty lucky life in terms of having parents who took us to gazillions of national parks and taught us things like backcountry skiing so I've been to and seen many many amazing places, but all and all, skydving still, by far, never ceases to amaze me in terms of its participants and how they generally care for one another as a family. Perhaps really educating them on the safety aspect of the sport (like overkill educating) is a good approach. Keep drilling it into them that they drive in cars and that is on order of a magnitude more dangerous than jumping out of an airplane (and no, there is no such thing as a perfectly good airplane). Good luck, and live for yourself first and foremost. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  24. Sweeeeeeeet... What I had in mind was more along the lines of having the Main editing window (the whole premeire app) in one screen and on the video monitor i'd like to display the preview feed. That's how alot of studios I've been in have it so the editor can check out what he/she is doin on an actual color matched video output display (like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2737035519&category=41806) I just scanned the premiere help files quickly and didn't see much in terms of how to set things up like that... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  25. I absolutely LOVE my pelican case. I watched my case floating down a river once here in colorado bashing into rocks and not one thing happened to my camera. Amazing rock solid cases and MANY sizes to choose from. I have two, one for travelling and one for my backpacking excursions... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
