newegg.com - honestly forget about one of those name brand models and check out that site. They have tons of fast cheap warrantied laptops to chose from. Personally - I've had nothing but bad experiences with Sony's having to confiugre them at work and the such. Very low quality imho... I did just that - moved out to Colorado and worked for a year. Hell, worst comes to worse, you could always get a job at the local DZ and car camp for a short period of time... Make damn well sure that you figure out exactly what you have to do for residency though and follow it to the T - find this out on day one or before moving down. I found the residency game to be quite interesting when moving West. There are always school loans too... All I can say is Kansas? or Florida!! I live by this rule, sort of pertains... You get three choices, Quality, Price, Time to Delivery. You get to pick two. You want high quality for cheap, it will take a long long time to deliver. You want cheap and fast, quality suffers... They have to pass tests, and most of them still couldn't handle a highspeed hairy/scary situation even though the chances of getting in one are pretty decent. BUT, perhaps restricting wingloading with a caveat that one could test past the restrictions is a great idea. Education is overrated. Experience is underrated. Hey, perhaps that even relates to canopy flight as well. You can send a pilot to tons and tons of theory classes, but bottomline is they won't be able to put a puddle jumper down in the middle of Alaska until they've worked up to the point. I really only get nervous when in a new situation, like jumping with someone I don't know. I also am ALWAYS nervous under canopy because I see alot of bad habits out there... Whats wrong with straight in double riser approaches for a hundred jumps?? I did just that from about 150-225 before putting in 15 degree increments into my landing patterns. You all forget that we are dealing with human beings that are probably naturally attracted to some sort of level of danger/excitement therefore they skydive. As diverdriver said = Booth's Law 2 "The safer skydiving gear becomes, the more chances skydivers will take, in order to keep the fatality rate constant." I believe in my own mind that this directly applies to canopies as well. I'd be willing to bet as stated before, that restricting wingloadings will have no good effect on the skydiving population as a whole as people will still try to acheive the things that accomplished canopy pilots do. They will lie cheat and steal to obtain a canopy if they have to. They will try to hook their 1.3s in and screw up. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

"leads to more people maxing out their canopy performance envelopes" Doubtful - I'd bet they overstep their ability level WAY before maxing out their performance envelopes.
