    Dead is . . .

I think honestly thats perhaps one of the best aspects of skydiving and base. You are living to the fullest and should anything go wrong, would you want it any other way??? Forget dying in a shreaded hunk of metal on a freeway, I want my last moment to be part of "real life"!!! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

    Goggles

How about some ski/snowboard goggles if you really wanna go supersize?? -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  4. On my fifth AFF, the pilot decided to buzz a hot air balloon at 800 feet, my reserve popped and hit the back of the plane. The whole load had to go back down... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

    Dead is . . .

Well put indeed. My heart goes out to Rook and Missy. I have never been more saddened by the loss of one of our own - Roger put in a great deal to get me where I am in my skillset today. He was a great human being hands down - he always helped out the non-hotshots out there because he truly loved what he was doing in life which is more than most can say. Blue skys to all. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  6. I would have to agree - this is really the Incident forum and condolences should be posted in talkback. I am truly hurt by this incident, but I will post my sorrow in the other forum to keep the main thread alive here. Sad day indeed )-: -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  7. Unless my math is way off here - and Quade, honestly, thank you for caring as much as you do - its good to have things triple checked as it is a pretty important date - but here are the dimensions of the main landing area, 3300 feet long by 400 feet wide which puts the total square footage of the main landing area at 1,320,000 which is way over the demo minimum for D license holders which is listed as 250,000 square feet. Its like 25 open acres - its bigger than any DZ I've EVER landed at. There are two alternate landing areas that are both twice that size. I see what I did wrong - sorry about the bad numbers. This landing area is massive - you could demo a first jump student into it -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  8. Hey don't get me wrong here - someday when I have 40 more dollars I'll pay and get my B and C, money's tight for the next 60 days unfortunately and there is a CASA boogie and balloon jumps to do this weekend in Colorado
  9. Every DZ I've ever done a night jump at (again, I have close to a dozen on last count, two in Montana, one landing off with no injury) only cared about equivelency. Again, I gurantee I will get a hundred percent on my B, C and D tests and I realize the requirements for a demo jump. It falls between 250thou and 500thou square feet. I'm planning a freakin wedding here with a skydive to begin the whole thing. Do you honestly believe I'm not going to prepare for it correctly? I'm not gettin married without having some fun I have my aerial photos, I have all of the required jumps and after this Sunday, I will have my D license and NOT my B and C because I want to save 40 bucks and get my drink on. Blue skys. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  10. I understand the requirements for B C and D or I wouldn't be taking the tests. I've personally found that equivelancy is ususually good as I have about a dozen night jumps now. I mean seriously, would you as a DZO or S&TA really deny me a night jump if I only had a D license and not a B? Bottomline is I'm planning on jumping into my wedding in August and I need my D for that. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  11. Right on! Is it still like 20 bucks? Haven't looked at my SIMs in quite awhile! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  12. If I have an A lic right now and am going to take my B, C, and D license tests, can I just receive a D number or do I have to pay for B, C and D. Cheapskate out. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  13. Well shoot - if those are indeed the facts, then this guy does have a legitimate case on his hands... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  14. I'm going to sue all of you just because I'm jealous of the total number of jumps dz dto com'ers have accumulated. WATCH OUT HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  15. Maybe stop tracking turn to the guy and show him your alti along with your middle finger?? -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  16. I actually did "nominate" my 25 as you say - I told someone on the load (which probably isn't true "nomination") that I was going for target and to please note where I landed. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  17. 6 comfortable minutes for my Sabre 135 and Vector II piece of she eye it... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  18. Interesting - I had all 25 of my accuracy jumps for D fufilled before reaching a hundred jumps. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  19. Plus when jumping balloons, a landing area can look alot different from altitude in terms of obstacles and such. I know on my few balloon jumps, the landings are always half of the battle/half of the fun... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  20. Are you serious? You think vertical speed is faster in a track??? Where did you learn to track???? Didn't they show you how to dearch and get the shoulder curl working to slow your fall rate - thus the "flat track" terminology??? Remind me not to get on a bigway with you. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  21. I'll have to poke around on that one. The only live data I've ever read was through a serial port long long ago using C (and I haven't used my C skills in like five years). In MO though, they provide you with a good hefty set of built in objects to read GPS connections straight thru the serial port if I remember correctly. Here is a link to their examples page: http://www.esri.com/devsupport/devconn/mapobjects/samples/index.html#loc1 Its like the 10th one down. In order to read in data from that MMC card reader, one would have to lookup the data formatting table for the device and then read up on how to correctly read data streams... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  22. I'll bet there isn't too tough of a way to access that data through a simple C program and port it over to a program like MO. **dood is getting intrigued** -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  23. Hey I hear yah, and again may I just say you sound like a very very cool mother! Bottom line is, as you've said, and as I've said, crudeness is everywhere, but finding a family like one can find on a DZ isn't. BTW - if my son or daughter ever sayz "Fuck You" I'll just take their rig away -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  24. "But when I make lewd jokes outside of certain very well-defined contexts, he gets (rightly) uncomfortable. Moms just aren't supposed to say some things." Your son is 19, you skydive, that must mean you are a pretty cool mother. I'm sure he must realize that somewhere insdie and not really get that uncomfortable when you act "real". -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  25. Hey Quade, I care enough. Zzz to you. No need to fill this thread with my opinion out of your mouth. I personally REALLY ENJOY how creative some of the folks get in these forums. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
