  1. A few peeps have posted questions about where newbies learning freefly should exit. Where I put them depends on lots of things. What sort of groups, solos, students etc are on the load. What the winds are doing, uppers, lowers. If an AFF is going out they tend to need a lot of time to exit. The seperation is there even if they exit after freeflyers. I may send out a high pulling solo belly flyer after a freeflyer. This is not because the high pull gives separation, its because the high pull allows him to get back to the DZ with the correct seperation. There are general rules that work most of the time, with more understanding you can change the general rules to suit the jumpers needs. Anyone can mess up a jump run by flying in all directions. If you are learning to freefly, get a coach who can instruct you how to do it safely. The sames goes for belly flyers Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  2. Or, as I see time and time again, you have over shot the landing area and can't get back to it. This means on windy days you may need to start your turns to the crosswind and final leg of your landing pattern earlier than you think. Otherwise, by the time you have completed your turn you will be further down wind of the landing area than expected. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  3. That might be an exit order based on a crosswind droprun. The people exiting first or last have the longest route back to the landing area. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  4. I am trying to learn something, I'm also trying to teach something. ...but you haven't been around long enough yet, have you, sonny? Brett I did not need 27 years to learn that the ideas presented by you about exit order are likely to kill people. However, I must admit that I did learn what is safe from people with more knowledge and experience than what I have gained in my 5 years in the sport. Again my thanks to Kallend, billvon, winsor and many more that have helped me make my home DZ safer. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  5. So, our flights are booked and on the 18th Nov til the 1st Dec we will be staying in Corona which is 34 miles from Perris and 29 miles from Lake Elsinore What do we want to do? We want to try out some tunnel time
  6. I sincerely hope you do either a cross/with wind drop run. Then at least most of the time that would be O.K. Otherwise your thinking is severely flawed. It has been discussed to death on these forums, do a search and learn something. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  7. In a word yes. Today, someone jumping a tear drop discovered after opening that one suspension line was wrapped around the right flap. She tried to free it but could not. After managing to get the canopy to fly straight she elected to land it. One witness said the canopy looked like a bag of shit. It did not flare too well but the jumper suffered no injuries. The advantages of jumping a light wing load I suppose(probally less than 1.1 to 1). On the ground she asked me if she should have chopped . Never thought to use her hook knife to cut the offending line. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  8. If you are a good packer and it's not new it should not be a problem. My girlfreind jumps a stiletto 135 in an atom 00 and there is room to spare. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  9. How about "bad luck" ? Parachutes even when properly packed can fail to open. I think we are trying to find a reason too often. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  10. Try doing CRW without using your front risers Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  11. Ok some other answers :- Last weekend I watched 2 people exit almost together from a C182 and pull within a few seconds. They deployed about 20 ft apart. Of course it was planned that way and everyone was happy. For myself after a freefall jump I would like 300ft between me and any unknowns deploying. see http://www.iit.edu/~kallend/skydive/#resources for the reasons why. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  12. Same here Real skydivers did it the hard way
  13. errr where is Cananda? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

  16. Thats pretty low. If you are not wearing lead then that's about right. Have you ever weighed yourself naked and then with your gear on? I have. My rig weighs 15 pounds. Add 5 pounds for sneakers, shorts, t-shirt, helmet, gatorz and neptune and you're ready to go. WTF did he buy an FX for? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  17. Probably because with my canopy/wing loading the damm thing does not stay collapsed Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  18. Is that opening at terminal, sub-terminal or both? I tend to have slightly more direct openings with a RDS which frightens me away from trying terminal opening. At sub terminal I don't notice the seek with either the RDS or standard slider. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  19. And what would the distance be for a 90 ? I need a reline now. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  20. Can you please update your profile to show the correct number of jumps? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

  23. If my eyes say I am high, but my alti says I am low, I trust my alti. If my eyes say I am low, but my alti says I am high, I trust my eyes. In most cases my eyes match my alti. ( that do not mean I have a load of numbers on my eyeballs ) Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  24. I only have back problems after arching when the tandem was falling at 135mph Which brings me back to the original post, I think it's best not not mix disciplines. It's very rare that I will attempt a swoop after a tandem video or a RW jump. I generally just follow the pattern so as to be less a danger to myself and others. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
  25. This may get you banned But on a more serious note, some peeps take the internet far too seriously and should spend more time talking to real people at real dropzones. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
