  1. The altitudes you set them at is up to you, and if you set them at the same altitudes, they beep at about the same time.
  2. I use the ProTrack as a "Dytter" and to log my jumps (I use the JumpTrack software to keep my log on my computer - I don't keep the paper log book anymore). I also use a Dytter or Skytronic Pro as a backup (I have access to a Pro-Dytter but haven't broken down and actually used one yet). I use my eyes as a primary guide, my Digitude, and my two audibles. Once in a while, I jump with the ProTrack in my pocket (so I can use it to log my jumps). If all you want is something beeping in your ear, don't spend all that money on a ProTrack when a plain Dytter or TimeOut will do. If you want the log book features, get the ProTrack. If you become dependent on the audible, get a second one as a backup.
  3. My apologies to Micro$oft. The culprit turned out to be Norton's Personal Firewall (had to disable the Privacy feature to make the banners work). Problem solved. Special thanks to Indyz for making me look in a different direction.
  4. To narrow the focus, this seems to be a problem on machines running Windows XP, but not ME, NT, or 2000.
  5. When I click on a banner ad on a web site that participates in the Enclave Banner Exchange, it takes me to the Enclave site, not to the advertiser's site like it's supposed to. Does anyone else have this problem? Tech support at the Enclave says he cannot duplicate the problem. I find it hard to believe I'm the only one seeing this. Give it a try and let me hear from you. For starters, go to the bottom of the page at http://www.gravitygear.com/ and be sure to click on the banner, not the text below the banner. Let me know where it takes you.
  6. Although the pilot chute, bridle, D-bag, and risers (and toggles) are part of the container, many sellers don't know that and you need to ask what all is included (or not included) to be sure. Just don't expect to get anything but the main unless the seller tells you more is included.
  7. Two points. First, the Reflex Owner's Manual states that after 72 hours of being repacked, the air will bleed out of the reserve and the pilot chute will start to "gap" and need to be tightened down. Second, the Reflex Reserve Closing Loop Manufacturing Instructions state that you should not use silicone lubricant on the loop as the loop can act as a wick to soak up the lubricant and cause loop slippage. The Cypres Packer's Checklist says that to protect the integrity of fingertrapped adjustable loops, they should not be treated with silicone.
  8. I happen to prefer Slinks for several reasons, including (but not limited to) the fact that they fit in the container better than a set of bumpers stacked side by side. Soft links have been around for a while (longer than Slinks). Like almost everything in skydiving and life, there are pros and cons, and it usually comes down to personal preference (not always based on rational analysis or facts).
  9. See http://www.reckitt.com/about/brandslice.cfm?cID=2#woolite. It's available in 30 or so countries.
  10. It depends on the size of the links that the bumpers have to fit over. Usually the mini risers have small links and standard risers have large links.
  11. I've used a Skycorder, a Skytronic Pro, and a ProTrack. I've had occasional trouble with "funny" numbers on the Skycorder and the Skytronic Pro, and I've had occasional trouble with failures to record or automatic shutoff on the Skycorder and the Skytronic Pro. The ProTrack is the most reliable of the three, in my experience. Also, the Skycorder does not double as a "dytter" like the ProTrack and Skytronic Pro. Another option to consider is the Skytronic FX, which I have not tried.
  12. Front of the left hand rear reserve riser.

Thanks to the hinged center, these are the best fitting and most comfortable goggles I've ever tried. And I like the way they look too!
  14. Check out section 9.5 of Poynter's Volume 1.
  15. The bridle extension makes it easier to position the bridle attachment ring/link on the top, center of the rolled canopy so it (the ring/link) can be placed next to the grommet on the bag without any fabric being pinched in between. The extension also allows you to position the attachment ring/link properly without uncocking the pilot chute in the process.
  16. I've got one, but I don't use it. I prefer to keep mine next to my ear in the pouch in my helmet.
  17. Hey Mike, why do you call yourself Chuck?
  18. My manual says it may be necessary to adjust the length of the loop to make the flaps align properly. It says the main pin flap should cover the stitches on the side flaps, and no more than 12 pounds of force should be needed to pull the pin. I go by how firmly the pin is held and how much excess loop I can pull when closing the flaps.

I've got three fresh water tropical tanks and one marine tank (salt water). Your tank would be great for either fresh or salt water. I don't use undergravel filters anymore. See http://bestfish.com/articles.html for good "how to" articles and an opinion on undergravel filters. Have fun.

When I got my first Cypres, I had the same problem. It went away. The problem, not the Cypres.
  21. I keep mine (all of them) in my living room, either on the couch or on the floor in a gear bag. At least one of them gets used just about every weekend. Sometimes one of them spends a few days laying unpacked in the middle of the floor for a day or two or three or............................. BadDog
  22. What can I say? Glad to hear you're doing and feeling well, and even more so to hear you're jumping!!! BadDog

    Shipping a rig.

I wrap rigs in plastic and pack them in cardboard boxes. I ship using Priority Mail and always buy insurance. BadDog
  24. Monkey, I think the "pocket" that is being referred to (listed on page 56 of the User's Guide) is the pocket for the processing unit. Most containers come with one installed (that's part of what Cypres Ready means). You are correct that the sleeve for the control unit is no longer needed. BadDog
  25. As long as your new container is "Cypres Ready" you have everything you need (all you "need" is the Cypres unit). If your container is not Cypres Ready, any rigger will have the necessary additional items (or will be able to get them). I use the fanny pack to carry my digital camera around. BadDog
