We'll that all comes down to where you work and what the policies are there isn't it. i have worked at places that allow 'cool' exits and places that do not. generally though there is a 5 second rule on the drougue. The reality is that a high percntage of tandems are there for a carnival ride, if you want to be a vanilla instructor, that is your prerogative. We don't generally get tips where I am from. It depends if you are talking about a back flip that is started with the student in the plane and the instructor out the door, and launched backwards like that? These are more dangerous (not that I have never done them) because regaining stability takes longer, but doing a nice gainer is a good skill to have and practice. Remember when you learned to skydive? and obtained your rating? you were made to go unstable on purpose and recover, the better and more current you get at these skills the better you will be (and more comfortable) at recovering from them when they happen unintentionaly. The guys that play with different exits tend to be the more solid tandem flyers, and the ones that only ever do poised exits (in most cases) tend to be the ones that are not comfortable with what they are doing. Gainers are perfectly safe, fun and not that difficult. it really does depend though on the aircraft and instructor. For a skilled indsructor they are possible on all aircraft. for some instructors i would not even recommend continuing with taking paying customers, but that is up to them and thier superiors! Manufacueres will always be conservative with what they allow, this is usually due to litigation and not common sense. IE's and DZO's will continue to put through instructors that are clearly not ready to do so, this has a negative effect on the skilled guys as thay all have to play by the same rules. Huh, i have found quite the opposite, I havn't jumped a safire 1 but icarus canopies in general seem to have longer flare range/ stallpoints than PD's. not that that would effect the point you are conveying but I have found PD canopies to be twitchier with shorter stall points, than icarus. There is one thing understanding a problem and doing nothing about it, and there is another thing simply denying that there is a probelm at all. I don't know which is worse and i don't expect everyone to reduce thier livlihoods to a hippy commune, a little understanding and respect however goes a long way. as far as I am aware all 1200+ glaciers in New Zealand are losing mass, A glacier can start progressing in warmer conditions if the Neve become more liquid the ice is pushed down the valley faster. It seem more than a couple of glaciers are losing mass; South America Antartcia ... Another prediction is; The melting of one of the world's largest ice sheets would alter the Earth's field of gravity and even its rotation in space so much that it would cause sea levels along some coasts to rise faster than the global average . This would affect north america more than the rest of the world as explained in this publication there are plenty of theories, most of which conclude a negative impact the earth as we know it. it was an intersting read, nothing new though, same things have been said by popular mechanics and NIST. The lack of evidence for the claims it produces are a great contibuting factor to the way it is viewed. I could make a few comments on the various other aspects 9/11 but will refrain from skewing the conversaion into a tangent, I am focused on the collapses of the buildings in this thread as there is plenty of scientific and mathematical evidence to prove that nist report has made false conclusions,i do not wish to cloud this issue with the assumtions made but various people on both sides of the story. I would like to stick to what is actually 'known', and use real physics and maths to learn from the evidence. This is what is wanted from another investigation, any truth will be revealed with the results once they are corrected. Comments like 'probably aluminium' (moulten metal) and 'probably air displacement' (squibs) are just speculation and assumtion which have no place in science. What I do know about these two things however is that aluminium does not glow orange until well after it has reached it melting point and if the bursts are in fact displacement they would be located at each floor as the floor on top of it falls and collides with it, therefore displacing the air between the two. Not several floors below? Would the air rush down the fire escapes or elevator shafts and choose one place to eject rather than blowing out the windows at almost the same time? but once again this is speculation not raw data so we should not use it in our conclusions. Please don't post speculateive one sided links, but rather factual, detailed links back by scienc as I have done in this thread. I'll read them, but they will do nothing to prove any point. As the arctic ice decreases, the amount of solar energy absorbed by the ocean increases, and In turn effecting the global temerature average as well as ocean levels. If the water is still rising while the displacemet is reducing, then what will happen once the ice is gone? Temperatures will go through to roof! Remember a temperature change of 1 or 2 degrees celcius is enough to kill coral, change weather patterns and affect agriculture in a devistating way. but what do you lot care anyway! you musn't have childeren or plan to have grandchilderen, because if you do, you are noty showing very much love for thier livlihoods!
