For a start you can tell Stevo he needs to sort his exits out, and tell ashley her straddle is awesome. As for the openings, I am no Velo pilot but it looks like the canopy is not loaded enough? just under 2.0 is not a light wingloading but a velo 120 is large for that type. The slider was staying up there for some time and looked as though there was extra friction there, check you slider grommets and bar tacks at the cascades? who knows. Ask pete, for petes sake! The second opening is similar to what I was having on my JVX when I first got it. The outside cells are inflating before the inside and creating that 'butterfly effect'. What I was doing and potentially you are doing is pulling the slider out a little when you quarter it. if it is sticking out it steals air fron the centre cells and caused this type of opening. These canopies have semi closed noses and will not tend to snap open like other types, you are also getting long slow openings. What I suggest you do is not push the nose in, and make sure you slider is about an inch into the packjob at the nose, not puled out like most people will tend to do with regular parachutes. Wait untill it dives in linetwists, then you will be excited, high performance parachutes, mean Potentially high performance openings! Since I have been looking I have seen quite a few more of them than I thought were out there, two people I know have one on order. It looks like that is my choice. I like the fact that the parameters during freefall are no different to normal, while in swoop mode on the Argus. The cutter simply wont fire after the parachute opens. On the Cypres the velocity needed to fire was altered. There are pro's and cons for both of those configurations, but getting knocked out in freefall is my main concern along with the unit firing during a swoop. My next wingloading will be 2.6 and I will begin to train 450's after my next comp... "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

I thought it was strange too as we have been using vectran for years and no on ver thought os making them thinner... I don't think so, and alsothe the tone of thier voice made it sound like the-y were told to say that, but that is pure speculation... whatever they are, they are thin and strong. Mahart (not sure how to spell his name) is using them and he is not a small guy! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

i'll take that as a no? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Yes, they have these orange lines that are like dental floss, the 'sponsered guys' had them in Dubai, quite new and none of them (that I talked to)have had to change thier linset yet, although they said they did not plan on doing very many jumps on them. that was only a matter of a few weeks ago, so brand new stuff. They 'said' it was vectran and uv coated. The cross section is round. They are really, really small and very orange! maybe ian could fill us in... ... or not. That is what I was referring to, PD ony offer UV coated lines to thier factory team, where you can have your velo relined with technora through pete. lasts much longer than untreaded HMA! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

BUMP! Hey everybody, I'm in the market for a new AAD. I want a swoop AAD and that narrows it down to Argus and Cypres2. There was that bogus knot in the cutter dutch test but aside from that; Is there any evidence to date, of an Argus not acting the way it should have? They have been around for a while now and companies such as those in Taupo are smashing out thousands of jumps on them without incident. There have been saves acording to the owner. So why not? At this stage I'm sold on them but just throwing it out there...

Nothing, I just got married less than a year ago, it was expensive even though we had a humble yet a classic wedding (minus jesus). Any further money would 'not' have been spent on the wedding, we had everything we wanted, and would have preferred to spend it more wisely. We paid in full ourselves and recieved much appreciated contributions later. Read the title of the thread! What else does one take from such a statement? I concur. He can in fact, offer linesets superior to what some factories can/will, due to the metarials he has on offer... "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

When you are munching it down with a beef pattie, lettuce, tomato, cheese and bread along with sauces... right! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Sydney has all those things and a higher standard of living than the US, a little more expensive but better qulaity food, always close to the ocean and friendly people. All of those activities are available to you there. That would be a no brainer, for me. Don't get me wrong. I like America, but there are too many seppos there! In Dubai (muslim) a bacon cheesburger from Burger king had 'beef' bacon and other places has turkey bacon. They all tasted the same, similar texture. If you use soy beans or lentils, and it still tastes the same, who cares? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

In New Zealnd in the 80's a CRW team used to do rotations off the mountain. I have a site that you can perform a high performance turn after launching and land on a fresh water beach. It is a wonderful discipline full of peril. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Swoop specific weight belt reccomendations

Swoop specific weight belt reccomendations
rhys replied to rhys's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I am thinking of a belt that clips to the hip rings (vector micron) but also has a quick release system. I would prefer not to have material between me and my rig. maximum comfort is the aim. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -
Swoop specific weight belt reccomendations
rhys replied to rhys's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Hi all, I wish to make a weight belt specific for swooping that can hold between 4 and 9 kilograms of lead. Does anyone have any recommendations of what should or should not be incorporated and how. Any suggestions greatfully considered. thanks, Rhys "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix -
"New Point spreas in Accuracy" More Info needed

"New Point spreas in Accuracy" More Info needed
rhys replied to Bowie's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
looks pretty simple to me? Same method of performing the round but with different scoring. With that scoring system I would have got much more respectable results in my last comp in the accuracy rounds, but so would everyone else I suppose? rhys replied to ts1962's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
They wouldn't have worked there so long if they were that opposed to what was going on, the 'real' piont is that no one forces anyone to be there. And bill has been doing ot longer than anyone out there. My 2 year old sticker on my helmet says 44th anneversary, so the parachute centre has been around 46 years now! Whoe to say who has to do what? he won that trial and his planes are on the waiting list to be ran through, speculation does noone any good. John was working on the planes full time the whole time I was there and planes that had any probelems were in that hangar until they were fixed. Niether you or I can say whether John was up to scracth with the work, it will take the FAA report, but that has not happened yet! You paint such a bad picture of a great thing, Bill either likes you or not, and I see that it is bad for people he doesn't like, as eccentric as he is there is method to his madness. fortunately for my wife and I he likes us alot and we were treted well.
