I have 6000 jumps 3 cutaways My wife had 6000 with no cutaways untill she got her tandem rating 9 months ago.She now has almost 1000 tandems now, 7000+ jumps and 3 cutaways. Most (More then 95%) of my JVX openings have been at terminal velocity. they open splendidly at terminal with the stock slider and with an RDS(para concepts). These canopies want to be loaded at over 2.0 and if he is loading a 79 at 1.88, he is very small. I try not to talk in size numbers anymore, as people get too hung up on sizes> Wing loading is much more relevant and if he had of asked what a jvx opens like at a 2.3 wing loading nobody would have thought about it more than once. I am moving to a 72 all sail to be competitive in speed and distance (keeping my 79 for accuracy), I will be 2.6 (+ with lead) wing loading and I am not a big guy. For mar.rei, I would not worry about the openings on a jvx, if you pack them respectfully and don't do too much to them they open fine whether you are hop'n'poping or jumping at terminal. As someone said earlier, if you want docile openings get a crossfire, if you want a jvx at 2.2+ then expect the odd funky opening with g's. The last point I might agree with, but the others are ridiculous. We will offer night tandems in the short future, we tested them last month with great success. The customers are willing to pay twice as much.($600) We will be paid more than 3 times as much (circa $150 p/j, yet be determined), no videos. The main problem is the loss of a malfunctioned main parachute but there are also ways around that, such as location beckons. I enjoyed my night tandem as much as the customer did. Our wind limits would be reduced and we would not use our cloud manual so only a clear line of sight and less than 15knots (yet to be determined). Do you work for vigil? you promote them as if you do. We have 25 tandem rigs at my dropzone, most of them now have vigil2's in them. A few of them have damaged cables at the point where the cable meets the display unit. I don't dislike vigils and use them every day that I work. To say that these cables are stronger and more durable than competing units is false, when vigil2 units that are less than 2 years old are being damaged in exactly the same manner due to the repetative flexing the is expected out or a parachute container. If you work for them you are lyng to yourself as you would be aware of this problem. If not you need to be aware of this issue. My lines have 400 or so jumps well over 100 with the new light weight rings and they are not nearly as bad as those lines. I woud be livid if my lines looked like that after 50 jumps. I have had 3 sets of blue technora and it has taken hundreds of jumps for them to get to that condition. If you watched the videos I posted in which David Chandler so clearly points out, that the time they recorded is the same. Because you have failed to comprehend that, we have to question your assertions that you can make suitably more informed decisions than I, with the information you have at hand. You can use both sets of data to calculate the symmetry of the collapse as David Chandler took measurements from the corner of the building and NIST took their from the centre, this indicates the symmetry of collapse at near free fall speed for most of it and absolute freefall speed for at least 2.5 seconds of it, through the path of greatest resistance. Are you implying that they have slowed the footage or speed it up? What are you trying to say? I don't pretend anything, building 7 was badly damaged... on one side. It was complete on the other. If it had have fallen in any direction other than straight down, and at any other speed other than freefall, I would most likely take your word for it. These rings are aluminium, they are softer. 350-400 jumps is what you would expect out of HMA350 Pd only recommends 100-120 jumps on thier HMA300. how much do you expect to get out of them? I'll keep an eye on the wear and tear, I have to replace my lineset now but I have done at least 400 jumps on them, this is what i expect out of them, but only 150 or so have been with my new PC slider.
