Let me tell you, I have worked in tandem factories, and currently do. Our customers are geared up by someone else to save time. I adjust the harness (almost) every time as I am particular about where the legstraps sit and it takes me a total of about 1 minute to do so. Gear checks are a part of the skydive and are not complete untill you have began you set up to land... I really do not see your point, if someone gets in a plane with a customer without checking the harness first and adjusting it accordingly, they are an idiot and should not be doing tandems. Their examiner should also be thoroughly examined, because as Sledge Hammer would have put it; "scum begets scum". If you try to dive a canopy at less than 1.2 w/l to the ground the most likely result is that you will get hurt. I had your attitude too and i got hurt. Work on your set up, accuaracy, and flare techniques. In doing so you are working on swooping as it will be very important later to be doing these things correctly. If you can do tip toe landings on the spot consecutively many times over, you are most likeley ready to downsize... Wait until you are ready for a higher wingloading before you begin high performance turns, the recovery arc on light wingloadings is far too short and leaves little to no margin for error. All of my full RDS openings have been at terminal. even in the comp I am in now (my only comp) we are exiting at 6k and I am first out in my passes, so smoking it down a 1000' helps me not have to worry about the guys above me and I like the openings better at terminal. I was shown to attach a rubber band to the ring on top of the canopy and attach the very bottom of the bridle to the rubber band by wrapping it around a few times, This basically makes the bridle stay with the centre of the top skin until there is enough force to separate them. It will act similar to a non rds setup until the canopy starts to inflate. I was told this stops the RDS from waving around while the canopy is not completely at linestrech and it made perfect sense to me... do your own research, I am busy at a competition, i intend on studying this further but have not had the time to do so yet. I simple google search will answer those questions, but determining the the truth takes more, and a thourough understanding of the physics. but in a nut shell they beam a shitload of energy into the ionsphere and see what happens. they intend on disrupting enemy comuncations, Communications will not be the only thing they will be disrupting. these stats are to comply with certain standards but who knows how much 'energy' they are putting into it. There are alot of people that will bag Lodi when it is envy that drives than to do so. Please consider carefully the conversations that have been archived here, and take into consideration that the Parachute center (lodi) has been in operation for 45 years. They are very inexpensive (not cheap but inexpensive) and there are many (competeing) people and dropzones in the area that would like to see it closed. Lodi is not about making the most money out of each customer, it is about allowing as many people as possible to experience skydiving for as little money as possible. Remember, they 'could' charge almost twice as much and still be the least expensive... I have been told the price has not changed in 20 years, can anybody confirm that? it is however the least expensve DZ in the world... looking for a backup from the 'in crowd'? i never said i believed it did createe the harsh winter, but i will state that i do not necessarily 'not' beleive it. they are sending massive pulses of energy into the ionssphere, and say it does not effect the weather because the weather is formed at a lower altitude. today in comprtition one jumper had a tention knot, he cutaway, landed his reserve and manged to catch his main. it was falling slowly due to not being tangled much at all and having a full RDS still attached giving it even more drag. To be perfectly honest, I did not get too much practice before, and have never hit gates over a pond/water before coming here. my accuracy has always been pretty good though, so it hasn't seemed to take too long. The practice rounds, the 1st distance and the second round of accuracy I missed the gates. I have scored every round since. and have a better formula to make the entry more likley. I am fortunate to come from a country that does not have many competative skydivers, I bet there are plenty of people in the USA that deserve to be here over me but with the PD factory team and arizona airspeed, it doesn't leave many slots. there are however international teams so if one (you) really wanted to participate here, I am sure they would accomodate you. We just completed the speed rounds and I scored each one, only the results of the first round are official but I am ranked 13th (in speed)at the mo. shannon for pd factory team got a 0 today so i will score higher than him for sure, but we are all human right? One thing that I have had going for me is tight landing areas with not much outs so i have really had to be on my game for high performance landings... I hope to score the rest of the rounds, but already I am more than happy with my performance. It is really nice to watch the best guys and see that they are humble people. everybody is really cool and enjoying thamselves. see you here next year?
