This is my first swoop comp, although I have competed in freestyle skydiving at the world meet/world cup 3 times before. This competition is well run, the accomodation is above expectation, the food is above expectation, the weather is above expectation and the facilities are above expectation. We are released when they know we are not going to jumps anymore. the Prince was here yesteray and was very happy with the set up and announced that this will be an annual event. Bullshit, I listened intently and all we ever get was moral stories about how we should be nice to each other. I went to youth group, lured in with chocolates and sweets and played games reciting parts of the bible as part of it, i also went to chapel every week for the years i spent there. what i did like however was the big pipe organ! I was attacked by a dog when I was a similar age, it bit me in the face and i still have the scars. I pulled its tail! it turned in response and bit my face. it was put down for doing so, it should not have been. 3 year old kids and dogs do not mix, i cannot speculate whether or not this dog was to blame or the parents, the article was not definative enough. The dog was aggressive towards the responders so it seems as though it was vicious/had been mistreated by its owners. Moral of the story, don't leave you 3 year old kid alone with a dog, not just a pit bull, but any dog. Kids like to pull fluffy things and dogs don't like being prodded and pulled and will retaliate against anyone or any thing less authoritive than them. Unless you are competing there is no point. I have used a removable slider for camera work but kept the D bag and P/C on as normal. You will be surprised at how 'free' it feels to not have a slider on. I am currently competing in my first competition ! I didn't start using a full RDS untill I was training for this competition, I owned one for my fist JVX because i intended on competing but sold it without ever fully attaching it, there was no point in running the full RDS for landing after a camera or fun jump, it is too much of a pain in the ass. in comp however it may be the difference between getting wet or not, or scoring or not! I do about 80 handicams a month and have about 40 jumps without (probably more over the next couple of months!! ) so can test them to make acomparison, we have full time editors the can give you feedback on the pros and cons also... Surface area = lift = drag. There is a very debatable window of what is best to use. and it depends on the type of canopy also. Taking the deployment system off whatever size you jump will reduce the parasitic drag, so it will be an advantage, what ever size you jump. I never said I agreed with the political standpoint of the country, i simply said they are not broke, and that it is a beautiful city. Neither do I pretend to know about the ins and outs of the emirate that i am currently in. Asthetically it 'is' beautiful. but I have read some disturbing articles on the treatment of the workers here. Meanwhile you live in a country that was founded with slave labour and racism, and many of the comments posted in these forums will conclude that the mindset of the past has not subsided completely. I belong a country that was the first in the world to give women the vote. And has looked after its indiginous people and teaches the native language in school to ALL students. That depends on who you talk to, I am a New Zealander (Living in australia). Australians are the ones that always call kiwis sheep fuckers. this is due to the fact that a few decades ago there were 40 million sheep in NZ to the 3 million people. In reality New Zealand is a small country where it is not possible to be more then 150km from the ocean/civilisation and in australia one can be 2000km away from the closest sheila and the fly munching desparate outback yobbos would be 100x more likely to stoop to beastiality than thier humble kiwi counterparts. I agree with that for sure, iI was discussing it with my bank manager when he was trying to get me to invest my superannuation a in higher interest/higher risk option. I asked him how much people lost in October 2008 in their 'super' plans, he said the chances of that heppening again were not so great. I said I am 35 years old and do not anticipate retiring for at least 20 years and anticipate another wall st. crash within 5 years(more likley 2). He said nothing and signed me up on the 'no risk' plan. He knows what I know, he just makes more money signing up the idiots! oh so we will all just stop eating, cleaning our clothes, watching tv, buying jeans... We will just stand there and do nothing? China will continue to recieve contracts for maufacturing, the less money people have, the less they will pay for stuff, fortunately for China that means that thier profits will increase and American manufacturers will, outsource or decline. Did you ever wonder how they make that power drill for $15 or or the t shirts for $2? I'll give you a clue, I bet they were not made in America! Living in Australia I can see a bright future, Tourism is up and my income has never been so good. More and more Chinese, Koreans and other Asians are travelling and jumping out of planes.
