Another thread got me thinking about this, i often wonder what goes on inside other peoples minds, especially in here as the majority seem to have opposing thought processes to mine. For me the left represents sharing and caring, obviously there is the extremes on both sides and we'll call the extreme left hippies or commies (for all you righties out there), for the right greed and power seems to spring to my mind. For me the ideal situation (centre) is a balance between capitalism and socialism. The socialism would give the people the voice and power to stop large greedy entities from abusing their power and lust for more control and money. The capitalism would allow individuals to make something of themselves and reward hard work and entrepreneurial skills. Completely socialist(extreme left) or on the contrary completely capitalist(extreme right) societies are doomed to failure, not because the systems are at fault but human nature and the ever increasing desire to satisfy ones desires is never ending. what are your 'individual' thoughts on left, right and centre. I agree with the OP and most of the other rational answers so for in this discussion. Laws do need to be in place that allow inventors to have prime control over an innovation/invention. But allowing these innovations to be witheld for profit in a less efficient, more destructive manner is huge. We have all heard the accounts and urban myths of people getting knocked off by large companies that have a strangle hold on the owrld economy... Ceramic blades in razors is one example I can think of I remembere seeing them on TV in the late 90's but we are still throwing out a razor after 2 shaves or so, 1 if you are a real hair farmer, but the ceramic blade would put schik. wilkinson sword and all those other disposable shaver companies out of business. lightbulbs are a great example, the very firs light bulb would last longer. tThis world is filled with un-necessary things that could have been replaced by things that are there and ready, but those that now own the patents refuse to produce them. Why sell only 1 thing when you can sell hundreds or thousands to the same person? She's a complicated old world we live in! What is scariest is that thiese words are more suited to the reality about Christian religion in the USA and how it effects the elections, these GWB, Palin quotres of 'holy wars' and 'Gods will' are not likely thier actual beliefs but they are simply saying it for the votes. This blind faith mindset is what allows the war, greed and destruction to continue. The problems with the world, its economy, people and environment are less to do with those that wish to refute what we have been told, it is more to do with the greediocracy playing with human apathy and feeding you what you wan't to know. You obviously didn't watch Zeitgeist did you? The beginning of Zeitgeist is about religion, I wouldn't usually use the bible as evidence but if you had have watched the movie, then you may have understood what I was talking about. Astrology is not about hippie chicks selling crystals and sending you text messages about your fortunes. The basis of asrology is about the sun's cycles and how it effects us everyday, season to season year to year. I dispise christianity as it is portrayed, and in these forums I often make mistakes and cannot explain exactly what my feelings or thoughts are due to frustration and my human nature type idiosyncrasies like that. Zeitgeist is in line with many of my beliefs and has actually aligned them quite a lot and allows me to have the information needed to allow me to further my studies into my beliefs. It has given me an element of closure in regards to many things that I have discussed here in the SC and potentialy/hopefully will do the same for others. Everybody should watch this movie, it is free to download, and should be watched with an unbiased mind. Whichever side of the fence you sit on open your mind for two hours and think about it afterwards rather than while you are watching it. Especially right wing christain sceptics, those little angry (perfectly natural) thoughts that go on inside your head when someone refutes your beliefs, will distract you and will not allow you to take everything in, in one sitting. The multitude of polls that are seen on the television and newspapers are not actual votes, how can a poll shown on TV today re: Obama Mcain be from actual votes? It couldn't be. All those polls show a much closer race, they always do and they can't really be used as a real indication of what is going on, the organisers can target specific places. Interesting that out of the 60,000 us citizens (people voting from america, i had to vote for australia as it wouldn't let me choose my home country) 81% voted for Obama!
