Let me take another angle on this. If the 911 story that has been released by the USA govornment is true... How incompetent and hopeless are the military leaders at thier Job. The FAA had taken all the appropriate measures to inform the appropriate authorities about the aircraft that had infringed the air law by turning off transponders and flying in a direction that is not manifested. How were these planes allowed to hit thier targets when the US military has several air bases in the regon that have aircraft that can fly at mach 2 and can be in the air within 5 minutes of recieving the command. That is some very sloppy work by the USA military. We'll let them away with the first strike but the second? and the pentagon? the pentagon is hit by a hijacked airplane 57minutes after the world trade centre is hit by the first plane? The pentagon is supposed to be in the most restricted airspace on the plannet but a 757 did a low level beat up and was allowed to slam into it? Either way the US leaders should have been removed, tried and penalised for their wrong doings or faliures to do what they are payed very well to do. This whole thing is an outrage. It depends on which canopy. i like to plan to be open at around or above 4000'. We use icarus canopies and some have been modified with longer brake lines, some at our DZ prefer this but i do not. if i have to use a super sniveler(modifird brake lines) i will pull as high as 6000' as they can take up to 2000 feet to open. Personally i don't believe annual income has anything to do with being rich. Some people have all the meney in the world and are miserable and soem have nothing and are happy. But you do need money in our so called modern societies so for myself i would think that a combined income od $200k would make me rich. At present we are about $100k from commercial skydiving. we jump for a living and get to go overseas on holiday each year. we have it pretty good so i would call ourselves comfortable. To be rich for me is not the amount of money you have but what you can do with what you have. I don't desire an expensive car or a large house. I feel great that I could buy a $1000 electric skateboard that takes me to work, jumping out of planes all day. I would be less happy driving a flash car because the distance is short and the parking is a hassle. Not to mention worrying about someone sealing or damaging it. Just wondering what you think? Personally I beleive the USA has spead itself pretty thin with the Iraq war and servicing circa 700 military bases around the world. Russia has some serious wealth these days and the US is treading on thin ice putting missile silos right next door in Poland and calling them Defence Missiles. HI, My fiance jumps 7 cells in strong and sometimes turbulant conditions. She used to have a spectre but now she has an Icarus Omega, she now can continue jumping in stronger wind conditions than she could before. She used to be the first one to remove herself fom the list due to being only 100lbs, now she can jump and penetrate into the wind when the tandems are coming straight down. She is very experienced however and jumps a 99 sq/ft canopy She does say though that the difference between the spectre and the omega is huge when it comes to wind and turbs..... ...this should be the case a lighter wing loadings also. try an omega if you get the chance. i couldn't afford it at the time and my time was running out. i am sitting on it so to speak, I cannot get the IPT patent anymore but New Zealand belongs to the treaty so no one else in the treaty countries can get it now. It cost me $2k for the NZ one and would have cost me $10k for the IPT so i simply couldn't afford it. in the speed rounds at world championship level i have seen teams making spocks, vertical compresses accordians etc really fast but they can take a little longer getting the belly star, not that they can't do it, it just looks more akward than the more complicated tricks sometimes. That is not the case for most of the teams though, I think the world record will be broken at the world meet this year, some teams can make 20 points now. I saw a Velo that had snapped 6 lines on deployment yesterday, the opening was soft and the places seemed random where the lines had snapped, not on the end of the fingertrapps. the lines had around 300 jumps on them and were the first set from the factory.
