Background; New Zealand separated from the Gondwana continent during the Jurassic period, the flora and fauna stayed relatively the same for millions of years. Mammals and birds came to be at a later date, and birds found their way to the remote Islands in the southern pacific. No land based mammals other than bats were present until the arrival of the Maori people circa 1000 years ago. So birds found their way there by flying, but once there, over millions of years, some lost the ability to fly? Why? All the predators were birds other than a few small reptiles, arachnids and insects so the safest place was in the undergrowth. The Kakapo (a parrot) still has wings but cannot fly, the Kiwi has remains of wings similar to human tail bones, so essentially they do not have wings as we don't have tails. There are other examples; most of them are now extinct. There were many 1000's of different birds in New Zealand including the largest known feathered bird in world history (the Haast eagle) many became extinct over a relatively short period of time (300 or so years) due the introduction of predatory mammals (Humans, stoats, ferrets, weasels and possums). In conclusion; birds found their way to NZ via flying as the Bats did, but over many years some lost the ability to fly and in some cases where the wings became a hindrance their wings almost disappeared completely. Have an amnesty for illegal guns and offer cash for them? Stop sales of ammunition from outlets such as wal mart, and have higher restrictions on pirchasing ammunition? Increase the penalties for carrying an illegal weapon? increase the prerequesates of owning a firearm. Produce new calibres and stop the production of old ammunition, this would disable many firarms and all old models over time? probably an extreme method but would be affective over time. Not according to this; JVX production delay no more! New technology! - June 24, 2008 The eight month production hold on Sail material versions of the JVX is over! The JVX is made for Daedalus canopies by NZ Aerosports LTD in New Zealand... After finding two of our JVXs (made with sail) with slight wear issues on the top skin we decided to look for a even stronger and more durable sail material that could hold up in the elements of swooping. After months of research we realized the material we wanted had to be built for us. After finding a production facility to build our new material the first shipment has been shipped to our factory so production is back in full swing. We apologize to our customers that got caught in this production hold for all this time. These customers had the option to switch their order to a ZP version of the JVX for faster delivery but most decided to wait it out for the new material. when made this poll I was under the impression that it depended on where you get the line, as to what rating it is considered to have. Meaning PD says it is 300 and mel says it is 350 both for the dame lines, we have learned these are different lines but at the end of the day they are very similar in strength especially if you add the 7 cell vs 9 cell factor and also the RDS vs stock slider factor..... both categories belong in this discussion. The alti track logs your canopy ride, so after the jump you can see how much height you lose in practice turns and final turn and the vertical speed of the turns. otherwise it is like any normal alti while under canopy. If you have an optima, an altitrack and your eyes, then you should have no problem turning at the right height. I picked recession. With inflation everyone is affected, with recession some can gain from the situation, such as the USA is seeing now with growth in the cheaper/affordable market. In times of recession there are ways to make sure you do not lose, but with inflation you had better already have lots of money or you suffer. I learned with the static line progression, For a real buzz and a sense of accomplishment, do the static line jump. Hey, you don't get a freefall but you climb out of the plane and let go....... by yourself. Any sissy can do a tandem but a staic line jump takes balls and you will never forget it. The extra instruction makes you feel as though you are a skydiver and not just another tandem punter. That is my opinion though. Have fun whatever you do! I was speaking to one of tyhe owners of Argus the other day here in California, he is on holiday. He was saying the argus has inspections but does not have a life expectency, his opinion was that if after 12 years it is inspected and found to be airworthy, why take it out of service. Personally I believe these things should be serviced relativley frequently, electronics have a way of deciding for themselves when and how they are going to work.
