Which ever canopy you get, it will take time to master that canopy. I am a JVX man, the openiongs are the best on the market, even better than crossfire openings. If you talk to a Velo owner they will tell you to get a Velo, if you talk to a JVX owner, they will tell you to get a JVX.... Having said that, the JVX is slowly taking out all the records, even though ther at least 4 Velos to every JVX maybe evem 10:1? Get a JVX and you will be happy! The weight is nothing compared to the force needed to steer a parachute. I can't see what the problem is with hand cam. The real problem is the greedy (small cessna DZ exemted) DZ's that do away with outside camera altogether, that is a problem, our DZ and region is where Hand cam was first pioneered, no problems to date and still selling plenty of outside camera. i beg to differ, the distance between the leg straps is finite with the y strap, the first edition y straps had short sections of webbing where the y attaches to the legstraps themselves. if a person had an 'ample bottom' it becomes increasingly difficult to adjust the harness correctly as the size of the said persons bottom becomes larger. Strong enterprises acknowledged this and amended the design and posted modification details on their website. the original y mod was actually inhibiting people from lifting their legs, the newer ones have more distance between the leg straps so the issue has been dealt with, but..... There are still hundred of original y strap harnesses out there that are waiting to break someone's legs. A newbie TM in conjunction with the old design y strap and marginal conditions are more than likely responsible for more than a couple of severe injuries to date. falling out of a passenger harness is not very likely if the harness is secured anywhere near correctly. You are talking about the cresco, the cresco is an aircraft that was designed in the early 70's for agricultural aviation, More than 2500 of my jumps have been from a cresco. The cresco was really popular as a jump ship because of its high turnaround capacity (15 minute sorties to and from 12k) more than 3 loads an hour. around the turn of the century Pacific aerospace started producing crescos new with skydiving mods like pneumatic doors, spotting lights, external handles and steps and sound systems. they are tight and you can do 5 tandems from them but it is a squeeze. The PAC750 in comparison is a limousine and an absolute pleasure to work out of. It wasn't designed for skydivers, it was designed for skydiving operations. These are the people that purchase aircraft. Pilots seem to dislike the XL because it is really simple (inexpensive) but jumpers seem to like it, except a spoiled few. The PAC750 is an adaptation of an older design (cresco), and is saving operators hundreds of thousands of dollars. Tis in turn is keeping our sport in reach for more people in this ever increasingly, expensive world.
