Or it's a sign saying don't drive so close behind someone you know has a major glacier still stuck to their roof!

Whatzit? (Aircraft Part ID)
diverdriver replied to JohnRich's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't know this myself, but the A&P (aircraft mechanic) working on the engine said it is indeed, the fuel control unit. He described it as the "heart" of the engine. It's amazing that something so small, can cost so much. It has safety wire all over it, and the ends of the safety wires have crimped lead seals on them, indicating that it was built in a certified shop, so I'm told. Yah, very special piece too. Having a FCU runaway can be a bad thing because the old statement of "dead foot dead engine" doesn't work anymore. You could have a runaway over power engine and think the "good" engine is failing and feather it. Bad deal. Now you have two bad engines and it ain't easy getting a shutdown PT-6 back to flying status quickly in flight. I've not had one go on me but others say they see fuel flow fluctuations just before it goes away. Always helpful to keep that instrument scan up! No kidding. My guess was going to be the FCU but I see that I'm wrong. Guess it's been awhile since I've had the cowl open on a PT-6. -
Open question - why should skydiving be bigger?
diverdriver replied to billvon's topic in The Bonfire
Because "we" are already IN and anyone coming IN after us must pay homage to us with green bottles! It is the way of the world. I dunno. Maybe we should ask the USPA BOD why they want to promote the sport to a wider audience? More dues income? More memmbers means more influence in government? I dunno. Great. Who's going to watch my back now? Guess I should get on that FFDO app.

Oh, I'm sure it'll fly just fine. Airbus has been designing planes for quite awhile now. I expect it'll fly exactly as they expect....mostly.

An open letter to Skydive Taft,CA

720, 750. Whatever it takes. -
Don't know about worse. Both of those planes have rolled my plane up on its side equally and scared the piss out of my passengers. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

And we'll be 20 miles in-trail because it produces so much wake turbulence no one can fly within 2 states behind it. It'll reduce the efficiency of the pavement we have. Well, that's my guess anyway.

Is this a jump plane in Maryland?
diverdriver replied to diverdriver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The tail number has two skydiving fatalities associated with it from 1979 and 1981. Last name of Rousseau owns it from Washington DC. It went off the runway in Salisbury, MD over the weekend so before I made a post in Incidents I wanted confirmation on whether it is from any DZ. Is this a jump plane in Maryland?
diverdriver replied to diverdriver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't recognize the owner name. It has a history of flying skydivers but I don't know if it currently flies jumpers in MD. Anyone recognize the tail number N10GC? It's a Cessna 180. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125 -
They always start with "command and control" targets.

Cowboy's gone? Damn. Can't say that I knew him well but I knew of him and am glad I got to meet him for a season at the "old" (as you say) Skydive Chicago. Chris

And I think you are wrong. So? Why didn't YOU PM me instead of posting here? Oh this is so useless now. Too bad people can't see the point.

I don't think so. Maybe others are experiencing the same feelings due to things they have seen and are handling it in a similar fashion. My advice could be helpful to them too. What we see in the sport can effect our every day life and in this case he saw it in the sport AND at work. PTS is very real. Quietly talked about behind the door isn't the best some times. Some times it is. In this case, I chose to respond publicly to this person's pain. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

Networking off DSL connection questions...need help.
diverdriver replied to diverdriver's topic in The Bonfire
Thank you all! It's odd that this setup worked before but now it doesn't. Wonder if the changing OS from when it was up before is an issue also. Same box worked fine without another router. We plugged the DSL line into this router and then plugged our computers into it. Hmmm... I know I'm missing something.... -
Networking off DSL connection questions...need help.
diverdriver replied to diverdriver's topic in The Bonfire
I now have high speed internet with SBC DSL. I have an Ethernet Hub (Netgear EN 104tp). It has four jacks and according to the user manual I have them connected right. What I keep getting is an error with both computers connected to the hub. The error message is "There is an IP Address conflict with another system on the network." I've had this hub in working order with two other computers with no problem. It has sat in a box for a couple of years and now I can't make it work. Grrrrr. Both laptops are using Windows XP. Can you help a brutha out? Need more info? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125 -
