Dude, I feel your pain. I deal with the same issue. Except my users are airline pilots. Kinda scary. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

Didn't I do that? I guess not.

I'm thinking (and yes I'm guessing) that the question was simplified to just assume "instant" acceleration. Or it could be that these are not two consecutive miles. Just two miles being compared and the acceleration was done in between the two miles in question. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

Might be set up something like this? (and I'm not responsible if you get it wrong...mK?) 2=(ts)+(s+5)(t-11) 1=ts t=1/s 2=(1/s)s+(s+5)((1/s)-11) 2=1+(1-11s+(5/s)-55) 2=-53-11s+(5/s) 55=-11s+(5/s) Do you think I did it right up to this point? Can you solve for S from here?

Skyride owners indited on wire fraud
diverdriver replied to FrankTheTank's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So, how many counts were they charged with? Is that known Betsy? Thanks for the facts. Chris - that is a civil suit. Indictments are for criminal charges. I'm sure Eloy made many separate claims in their suit, but they're not ones that get our Skyride crooks 5 years per count. Thanks for the clarification. So, has anyone found reference to an actual indictment for wire fraud? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125 -
A little gallo's humor? Ok, sometimes, you have to crack a smile even if it isn't funny normally. Kinda like the guy puported to be on top of the WTC tower 1 as the first plane hit. Only to be shown as a fraud so a million photos of him at every natural and unnatural disaster came out.

Ok, maybe I'm unfamiliar with which stunt he's talking about. I'm refering to the two low cutaways by normal jumpers during normal operations. One happened about 4.5 years ago and the next 4 years ago (Muskrat and Ali). Both cutaway about 200-500 feet. A Skyhook very likely (not guaranteed) would have changed the outcome of those situations. Is there another "stunt" that I missed? edit to publicly apologise: Aparently I have completely misread Silvre's first post. After rereading it is seems there was some sort of test jump to prove the Skyhook's operation at low altitudes. Is that correct now? Silvre, I apologise for jumping your shit. My first thoughts went to my friends who died and who could have benefited from a Skyhook. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125 -
Skyride owners indited on wire fraud
diverdriver replied to FrankTheTank's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well since YOU put it out there. You might have put the complaint out in its entirety. Trademark infringement was the least of it. I wasn't going to put anything out here but I would rather do that that have wrong/incomplete information given. The complaint is for violations of sections 43 (A) of the Lanham Act,CONSUMER DECEPTION, trademark infringement, and unfair competion. Wow, one confirming post about what is going on and not a single response to it. Let's not get distracted by the facts. Let's continue to debate whether there were or were not posts on another forum. So, how many counts were they charged with? Is that known Betsy? Thanks for the facts. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125 -

You know, those "crazy freaks" at SDC happened to be people I called friend. You just lost your audience or any sympathy for the rest of your post from this poster. I think Bill Booth is an amazing individual and his gear ideas are brilliant. I bought my Skyhook. I'm not bitter that he offers it for free now. Even if it's temporary. I don't give away my piloting skills for free except occasionally for special things that deserve it. I'd say Bill has a right to charge for the work he does. Christy is my webmaster for DiverDriver.com if you didn't know. She was actually the driving force way back to get it going. I'd provide content and she organized it into the website. Thank you Christy. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

I just moved to South Bend, IN last summer. After getting married, Wendy and I moved into a bigger house just south of where we were. Getting to know the neighbors this woman across the street said she had lived there about a year. Making small talk I asked where she had come from and she said Akron, OH. I asked what she did there and she said she worked at Kent State. "Oh" I says, "what did you do there?" She taught in Information Systems. I asked if that was anything like computers and she said yes. I said did she know Steve Schindler and she said "oh sure! Been to his house many times for Chili cookouts. Why?" Well, he's my uncle. Small world. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

I can just see Bob's entrance through the "Pearly Gates". He bumps into St. Peter causing him to toss his "Good Book" into the air which lands in The Skipper's fruity drink causing it to splash all over him and jumps with fright causing him to flip over backwards in his pool chair. GIIILLLLLIGANNNNNNN!!!!

Sorry I didn't put it in there before Marc. She is. It's an arm of the Indiana FEMA. It's still chaos down there. They were getting bad info all the time. They were about to go to Baton Rouge when they sent a scout instead of the team and found out that FEMA walked in and started clearing Baton Rouge sending them to Alexandria so they decided to stay put. And they are not in the way. They are very much working their tail off now helping people. They originally were told to go to NO by FEMA national. When arriving and seeing what was going on did they find out they were needed elsewhere. Things are fluid, dynamic, whatever. Because of Wendy's "on the ground" assesment they are redirecting another group coming on a bus from Baton Rouge to NO to relieve the hospitals there. I'm very proud of my wife and all the team she has doing the best they can under the circumstances. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

They actually have some Indiana native PD people going for their own security detail. They didn't want to depend on the Feds for protection. The latest update is that they got to NO and were not really needed right at the airport anymore. So, they got FEMA director Brown to commandere a bus for them to go to Alexandria chasing the refugees. Now, less than 24 hours since arriving in NO they have split the team once and now are all going to Baton Rouge to handle the continued flow of refugees there. Who knows where they will go next if anywhere. There is still tremendous chaos there in trying to get the people who want to help in contact with people who need medical care. These people want to help. There just seems to be a problem getting information on where to go help. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

My wife Wendy (Wendybird on DZ.com) is doing volunteer medical help in New Orleans. Her team (which she organized in about 3 days work and they flew out this morning from Indianapolis) is there to help out at the airport. I'm very proud for her and at the same time I worry for her. Attached is a picture she took approaching the airport outside New Orleans. Folks, do what you can to donate anything you can to the American Red Cross or any other reputable group helping out. We are way behind in helping these people but that's no reason to do nothing. Prayers go out to all who are affected by this apocolyptic disaster. Mile-Hi Otter to be flight tested

Yes, King Air, Otter and Cessna - all turbine. Except the Cessna. It's just a Turbo. Turbine... turbo... whatever it takes. -
... that's the real issue here. You are depressed. You can't control what has happened to your firends and you can't bring them back. Frustration builds because of the lack of control. You are more aware now of what is going on in the sport and you've had ample time to make LOTS of friends in this sport. As that happens, the likelyhood of knowing more than one person to die in this sport goes up. But rest assured, the fatality rate was just the same before you were in the sport. The only change is that you are now more aware of it. Ask Billvon, Skybytch, hell Bill Booth all the people they've known who have died in this sport. The are still in the sport despite what has gone on. Somehow, they have found ways to cope/deal with the loss. They view the world/future/present/past in such a way they can continue. Ask some more old timers why they keep going. Sometimes you need a break. Some times it's necessary to step away from the sport/dz life. See what else is out there. I hear people say "I'm a skydiver" as though it's some sort of race/religion. Skydiving is what we do. It's not who we are. If you don't go to the DZ for a weekend you won't implode. Think back to your first jump. Sit quietly with no distraction. Remember what you thought just after you touched down on the ground again. At what point did you think "hey! I gotta do THAT again!" At that moment, you didn't know anything about what you know now. See how you view the sport after that exercise. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

You know, I've been at conventions before where everyone swore there were 3 fatalities. Guess what. There wasn't a single one. There were serious injuries but no one died. I know we've already had one at WFFC. Hope the others are just rumored like usual. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
