  2. you man the mid eighties and early nighties are the days or yore... cuz that's when i was in grade school.... well 5th grade in 89/90........... You were in 5th grade in 89?!! Fuck. Now I feel old. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  3. .....come on babe... who's the best pilot you ever saw? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  4. I can not vouch for any cost issues for this engine upgrade. As a pilot who has flown a 206 with the IO-550 I loved it. We were able to go up and down to 12K AGL from SL in a very reasonable amount of time with 5 jumpers. When you get close to the altitude that turbine DZs are going to you become a real competitor even if you can't take 23. I don't know how many loads in the Otter I flew where I was full 23 and had 12 "groups". Man...it's almost painful the length of the jump run. But I digress. I think the costs are much more managable on this type of aircraft to give that type of altitude rather than trying to go turbine. I think that's the IO-550s biggest advantage. You aren't comparing the cost of it over the old 520. It's the savings from having to go turbine to compete. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  5. Slow speed mal. You think you have more time than you do to make a choice. You can get lulled into a corner. 3 pilots watch a 50 cent lightbulb that is burned out while their plane slowly descends into the Florida Everglades. Seems silly right? Pilot has the right engine blow to pieces and so he brings it around and lands it will all on board cheering him. One seems obvious in how it can lead to catastrophe. The other does not. Either one is capable of taking you out. But one is more insidious (sp?). Beware the slowspeed, line twist, unable to kick out for no known reason ride it until impact or chopping at 200 feet type scenario. It creeps up on yah. 6. ....errrrr.... I drive divers to altitude...
  7. Greenie wannabe!! Totally. He's even posting -press clips- and swooping Quade's job. Man... you'd almost think he was over compensating for something.
  8. bwaahahhahahahah.... I didn't see that other one. OMG that's funny.
  9. ....reporter refering to workers affording health insurance in America..... "The cost of the high cost of insurance can be costly." I feel like the duck in the AFLACK commercial starring at Yogi Bera after he says "And they give you cash which is just as good as money."
  10. LOL... so true. I was filling out the sheet in the chamber and it said to sign my name. So I did. Then, halfway down the sheet it asked how many 3 cent stamps are in a dozen. I answered. Then it said to sign my name. I did. Then it asked what my spouses name was. I left it blank. When I got out I looked at the sheet. For the question about the stamps I answered 4. Oooops. For my signature I left it blank. And where it asked about my spouses name I signed my own name. oooooops. And the whole time I felt in control. Yep. You don't know how messed up you are until you get out. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  11. Has anyone made headway on getting their pirated photos off the suspect websites?

  14. "Are you better off" does NOT mean "are you making more money." Or did you only have that in mind? I guess most Americans only judge the worth of their lives by the amount of money they take home. Sad really. In four years my earnings potential has gone to "adequate". The industry I chose to be in that had great earnings potential because of the long apprenticeship required to reach "the top" has been pulled apart supposedly by "market forces" (which is BS). We have a government that promised help after a terrorist attack but did not deliver to the industry that it handcuffed from acting in the beginning. We are not safer in the industry than we were before 9/11. (Don't ask me for specifics. I won't give them as that could be a security risk.) No, I am not better off. In fact, I actually fear more attacks because of this administration. I don't expect them to try to take the cockpit again. I figure they will just take us out with a big boom. But, I have a loving wife and family. My efforts now are to be a good husband and protect their future. Skydiving has taken a major backseat and I'm ok with that. I am happier now than any other time in my life. So, in that respect, yes, I am better off now than I was 4 years ago. But it has nothing to do with the President. (I assume since we are in the midst of election season that your post was inspired by it.) Chris
  15. This has got to be a joke right? I can't believe Bush would actually do that.
  16. Who do we have to thank for that bit of exposure? Malory? Thank you to ever keyed the network in.
  17. Wait? I thought 10-way was at the end of the week. 10-WAY!!!! GRRRRRRRR
  18. There's another level than this!?? Holy Crikey!!!
  19. Actually, we loaded and were at altitude in 35 minutes at Eloy during the 300 way. It was not an hour. Plus, after the drop you could have your pick of 15-16 otters to get you to altitude right afterwards. I don't know that many people who pack that fast and they don't jump that hard during the convention. So, you jump, while you take your hour break between jumps the attempt goes up and you get to see something cool. Having the planes already on hand makes it better then bringing them across the nation only for the record attempt. That cost big time and I didn't fly one "fun" load while I was at Eloy. We chose to do it that way but I'm saying it could ease the burden if you ran this at WFFC. It's just my suggestion and last time I checked Don Kerlin didn't have my number on speed dial to ask my opinion on anything. So don't get all worked up. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  20. I think we could do the 400 way with Otters. The logistical problems might be a hastle but it could be done. I think it should be set up so it could be done at the WFFC. My opinion. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  21. Two guys show up for the FJC. A pilot I was flying with freaks out "What the F are they doing here?" Uhh, they're here for the FJC. He goes "Oh no, you don't want them jumping. They both have about 5 AAD saves between them." SAY WHOOO WHAAAAHHHH????? When confronted they said that they just "wanted to start over with another logbook and do this skydiving thing". We sent them home. Thank God that pilot was standing with me and recognized them from another DZ and knew their history. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  22. The short answer on getting to jump with other people is to go to the red packing mats. That is usually where the Team Funnell people pack. Don't be shy. Just ask anyone where the TF people are because you heard they like jumping with new people to the sport/DZ. The National Skydiving League is over for the summer and there are many people there just looking for groups to jump with. Chris
