  1. Well, I'm going down again this weekend so I'll talk it over with them then. At this stage, I think I'll either go back to the 195, or get a TA for my flare for the 170 I went back to the 195. 3 perfect landings. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  2. Have you got any pics? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  3. It's good getting off student gear isn't it? I'm up to 10 jumps now, off student gear. Everything happens quickly. It turns when you ask it to, You have to be more careful on the landings, and I actually get some penetration into wind! -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  4. Strained my right knee and ankle on landing. Not too badly though. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  5. oohhhh... I'm shaking in my boots.... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  6. http://www.airspeed.org must ... make ... clicky ..... . Question: Why can't the BB do it automatically? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  7. Thats true. Also, you have to worry about how the velcro is positioned. The peel strength of velcro is quite low, but ever tried to pull it apart in shear? It's very hard... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

  9. That said, on the last load last weekend, the main windsock was wrapped around the pole, so she didn't work all that well... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  10. >I'm not, however, completely against spring-loads so long as the students are NOT taught to hold onto the ripcords. . At $60 a pop, I don't think so. That ripcord isn't going anywhere... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  11. clarification: I don't know about the positioning of the ripcord. I don't know if the regs state where it should be. Mine was chest mounted. SOS isn't bad. Why do you call it the wrong way? Whats wrong with it? It cuts down on a handle, it gives less things for the student to remember... As a student, you're concentrating on falling, and not hurting yourself. Once you get to the stage of using TAS, you don't have to worry about falling, and can start to worry about other things. . NB This coming from a 40 jump wonder with ~5 BOC/TAS jumps under his belt and the rest RC/SOS -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  12. Thats easy for us Australians. Students use ripcords and SOS rigs here. No BOCs and TAS until you've finished your training table. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  13. Static line instructors or static line JM's? Over here (Oz), you can use an instructor D (the lowest one) to despatch static liners. The prequisite (amongst others) is your D licence (200 jumps) To actually teach the FJC, you need an instructor B, or an ID under the supervision of an IB. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

  16. Sounds like me. I got up to my delta and then it went in the crapper. I just couldn't exit stable. On this particular jump I ended up deploying at about 5k, head down and back to earth. The d-bag went through my legs, and I thought "This is goin to hurt". I was flipped throught the risers, managed to get e nice cut on my chin and shake my head around a bit. Landed it ok though... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  17. Thanks for all of that. I'll see what I can make happen... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  18. 'tis 2150 here now... starting to feel tired... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  19. I went from a 270 to a 195 and did some good landings (~5). My instructors then put me on a 170, which is approaching 1:1 for me. I blew my landings. I didn't even manage to get a PLF in, but I didn't break anything. The fact that there wan't any wind at all contributed to that fact. I was told that I was starting my flare too high, and not completing it in time. Things happen faster on smaller canopies. When I go up next, I'm asking them to put out a TA for me for my flare. edit: Aren't students the ones that are most subject to overconfidence? (NB, I'm a student too btw) -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  20. I've had a brain mal on landing after a solo. Does that count? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  21. Does it have the ability to download data like the pro-track? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  22. You've jumped it three times, all in high winds. I think he (she?) was refering to the 150... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  23. That they should. However, other things are a bit more rememberable than that. ie where is the ripcord? -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
  24. Bridle routing. I nearly packed a total malfunction the other day. I put the bridle under the no. 4 flap. The PC would have come out and pulled up against the flap, and the pin wouldn't have gone anywhere. I spotted it during closing because my pull-up was coming out at a different place; it was put there by the bridle. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
