Too high,too low...need help with flaring

I did four jumps yesterday in ~12-15 kn winds. On three of the landings I was either going straight down or backwards, and I needed no flare. On my last landing, I was going forward, and then caught some turbulance from the ground and ended up landing sideways. 2 stand up, 2 PLF. I learnt that when it's windy, I don't need to flare very much. flare 1 is plenty. -- Arching is overrated - Marlies -

Pb is 11.35 g/cm^3. So its only 4 and bit times less. Assuming these densities, a sand ball would have a radius ~1.6x a Pb ball. ie sand = 5cm, Pb = 3cm -- Arching is overrated - Marlies

If you use kilos (the only real measure of mass) then it works out ok. 23 jumps, 2 cm and ~120 =164 sq ft canopy . Apart from the fact that the equations used are dimensionally incorrect..... -- Arching is overrated - Marlies
