I was just thinking the same thing. My goal in the winter months is to take one trip a month to a warm(er) climate. This month I started in Eloy for the Holiday Boogie, last weekend I went to Raeford, next month it will be Raeford again or someplace warm (maybe FL). I know what some of you are thinking, how does she afford that? I am a teacher so it's not easy. However I have decided to live with my parents forever and when I am home I spend a lot of time there bored in my room staring at the computer (like now). My trips are only a few days long and I try to stay with friends I have met at other dz's. It's working so far, but I am very close to convincing my parents to buy a house in another state with a warmer climate. Heather Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

I can show you 100 kids who have the opportunity to be productive citizens in this country and whose parents are on welfare. And the comment about giving schools more money not being a miracle solution is true, however it's rarely heard that teachers, on average, give about $1,600 out of thier own pocket per year to enhance the education of our children. Please don't tell me the federal government could not handle that. This upsets me, especially when education is such a low priorty to Mr. GWB Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

The general message to me was that the U.S. economy could be looked at a little more closely to support some issues that are effecting the citizens at home. I am all for supporting our military but I support children too. As I see it children are at risk in this country for many more reasons than I care to go into. I think the federal government does need to recognize this and support kids monetarily (sp?) and stop placing blame on parents, teachers, administrators, media, etc. As it stands right now the feds do very little for schools, most money right now comes from the state. Plus any money that is given to the schools is being threatened to be taken away if schools do not perform well on a test. Well what about the school that has 65% of the students who have English as a second language? Are those students expected to score as high as a student who grows up speaking English? Those of you who speak a different language will know what I am talking about. When GWB tells me all 3rd graders should be reading at a third grade level and at the same time is cutting ESL and special ed. programs I ask myself what world this man has been living in? I think most everyone freezes at one point or another. We all question our fate in this sport. I know I have froze (not at the door) but mid skydive when thinking what I was sopposed to do next. The more you jump the easier it becomes. Take a few deep breaths in the plane when the green light comes on and relax. The deep breathing really helps to relax. Forgiveness is an amazing feeling and I just could not imagine life without love. Emotions can be the most beautiful and the most frightening because we have no control over them. It's the one thing in our life we have absolutely no control over. I choose to keep mine on the brighter side, it makes life easier. I feel for those who are caught up in bitterness. That just leads a life of pain. Sometimes is it a good excuse because it protects us from pain but I rather take my chances, it feels better that way. Just wanted to add my 2 cents. As stated before: always respect danger Never be afraid to ask questions. I see a lot of people (especially men) become to big of skygods to ask questions of others. If you don't know the people you are jumping with ask them about thier experience level and know your limits. The way I look at it is and in every aspect of skydiving I am the one making the decisions. If I feel something is unsafe or I am unsure I ask, even if the tandem instructor is yelling at me to get out of the door. Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

Depends on the kids but bad things happen to the really young and the really old. When the weather is that cold things don't usually operate the way thier sopposed to. If the school bus breaks down (which has happened) you have a dangerous situation happening really fast with all those young kids. Not all kids live a few miles from school, some have a good 45 minute ride home. Many do go to school in that weather but if we don't have to put kids in that danger why should we. I as a teacher much rather get time off during the summer months but when it's that cold, knowing that most of my kids walk to school with no way of getting a ride, I rather have them stay home and be safe. I get irritated cause I don't want to pay for that bs. If a bored cop wants to bust into bars looking for trouble so be it, but let him pay for it not me. Just like if I want to go out of my way and do a big lesson with my fifth graders on some subject. The public doesn't pay for it I do. A little odd the way it is worded. It can mean the vehicle is traveling 30mph faster than a skydiver with a canopy above thier head or 30mph faster than a skydiver (but the canopy is above the vehicle). Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!
