Hey girl, I'm not experienced in either of the sports but I skiied once this winter and snowborded once last winter. I have been on a wakeboard a few times and it did help when snowboarding. I felt that skiing was a lot easier. When I explained to Drew my method of stopping he told me "some people call it falling, I call it stopping", that was me on a snowboard. Whatever you do have a ton of fun!!!! Heather Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

Skydive.... I find no matter what crap is going on in my life if I think about the jumpin all is good. When I am jumping things are better. Unfortunately I live in Chicago so skydiving is currently unseasonal. Time will heal and you will eventually look back and wonder what the big deal was. Patience is a virtue, Heather Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

If you get really disgusted we can print thier address in one of the Chicago Newspapers as being for sale for about 5 grand with a telephone number. They will never mess with you again. A friend of mine actually did that and it worked. The people never again gave her a hard time. Busy-bodies know what thier doing and it's mostly done for attention. Once they get scared they seem to back down. I have all sorts of good ideas for getting even. Heather Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

I fly from Midway all the time and for going to SDC it is much closer and will avoid tons of traffic. Mid way does not suck, it's just smaller. I find landings are more fun there anyway . Southwest specifically has info about bringing a rig aboard the plane and allows it. They fly out of Midway. Best of luck, Heather Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

Not to sound like a bitch but I loved doing that!!! I had a convertable and would not remove the snow from my roof. When an asshole would drive to close behind me I would beat on the roof and all the snow would hit their car. Only did it to the assholes never hurt the good people (or the assholes for that matter). Would only scare them a little. Heather Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

I say we should go get drunk and have a smoke tonight to make us happy!!!! Just kidding, I haven't been that good however. I just don't smoke during the week. This week has sucked so far for the depression. Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

I suggest you ask your teacher friend if she/he really likes having to take all those breaks in the year just to go back to school and reteach everything the students forgot. I for one would love to work year round, not have so many vacations if I could be paid equally to my friends with a MBA. I know that won't happen, there's no money for it. Once again not by fault of the teachers. It is actually more of a pain in the ass than anything. Also find out how many hours after school and on weekends he/she used to grade and plan. Not to mention graduate work which is mandatory in most states and not reimbursed by the government. That "free time" is really not free at all. I've reciently quit smoking and am finding myself incredibly depressed. I think that it has something to do with the winter as well but I have never been depressed and it is hitting me pretty hard. I just can't wait till it goes away, I hate feeling like this. Heather Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

Dogs, dogs can't cheat on you either. Thier loyal, always look like they love you no matter how much you vent to them. They make me remember that I am human and make mistakes but they love me reguardless. Men, I like men too. I just can't figure them out like I can dogs. Im sure many men feel the same way. I do agree with you about it not being the governments responsibility to teach our children, however they are the ones providing the salaries for the teachers. I hope you realize that many of the parents on here are the exception of being involved in thier childrens lives. Many American parents are not involved enough. Currently teachers, in many cases, are rasing the youth of America. Thank you to all of you who support your children, it is appreciated. Thank you to those who support the teachers in thier childs life. That too is greatly appreciated. Heather Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

Yes Nightingale, I understand what you mean by cost of living. I am from Chicago and the rent here is rediculous. You should not have to move out of the state you live in. You simply should be paid more. I am sorry you cannot teach because of this. Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. A few things I wanted to respond too. No I am not member of the NEA. I used to be and then changed districts. I feel however that the amount of money teachers put into thier union is a waste because when it comes right down to it the unions do very little. However the districts in the state I teach are pretty much forced to be in the union meaning that if I am not in the union I still have to pay them. I don't really know why, I'd rather educate my students than deal with this. For this reason I am a member of the IFT which is a branch of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). As far as keeping teachers wages the same. Currently the teachers at a master level (they have a masters degree in education) are making a salary about $5,000 above the poverty level. My state is not the worst, many others are much lower. For six years of college and student loans I find this insulting. Do I get summers off? In the five years I have been teaching I had one summer off for relocation. Yes the extra time off is nice, mainly for organizing your classroom and student grades so you can make the year as stimulating to the mind as possible. I don't know a teacher who can take a full summer off. I usually work for a summer camp or teach summer school. I guess my reasons for posting this are to make people aware and to see what a sample of the population feels is going on. I agree with the fact that there is a lot of waste and something does need to be done about it. I don't think however this is the fault of the teachers. I'm am very happy so many of you are for parents becoming more involved. I agree and feel this has been a big part of many of the problems our nation faces dealing with our youth. I have been reading the numerous threads about the current adminitration in office and I see how important it is to many people. It is to myself as well. The one thing I am having trouble with is the fact that the entire government conversation has been about war and terrorist attacts. As I see the importance of it at this time I ask myself does anyone have any concern about any other issues? Is anyone worried about the current state of our education system in this country? I work with children daily and see many great teachers leaving the field because they are sick of dealing with more and more "red tape" that is keeping them from doing thier job. Our education system is, and has been for the past four years, going through changes that are not helping our children. I know I am speaking from a biased position but I would really like the opinion of others. I have been teaching for five years and love my students. I am seriously debating getting out of the profession because A) it's becoming more of a political dealing than a helping profession and B) it's not possible to support a family (or myself) on the income. The teachers of this nation cannot send thier children to college on the money most of them our making (especially if your single). I appreciate any feedback you are willing to give. Oh pick me, pick me... But I must say as an ESL teacher his English is common of those who are learning. So he said some stupid stuff in a stupid way. Then I know you disagreed with me however kids do need to know that some Africans are white. I had 100 kids floored when my S. African friend walked in and she was white. They could not believe she had white parents. I think this just increased awareness. I can share many other horrible things that kids do to one and other and they only get a slap on the hand. This should have been no different. Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!

I have a strong opinion on this one. My best friend is South African and I have always said she is African American. It is not insensitive, as the article stated the school thought of the posters, it just is. It is not a matter of being PC, it's the truth. Those students should not have gotten in trouble. As far as the article described there were no rules set up for the award except that you had to be an African American, which the boy was. It doesn't take a genius to figure this one out.
