Having read numerous posts that state beer is needed to be bought for completing a task, my questions is what are those tasks? Could somebody enlighten me to the beer buying rules. I have graduated the afp program; should i buy a case? I passed my license test; should i buy a case. What qualifies as a ( BEER ) moment. I enjoy beer and dont want to deprive it of my fellow skydivers. blue skies, cold beer? chris

Sangrio, Cant really say that this is news but its of a lighter note. On this last Saturday, March 1st, I passed my A license test w/ flying colors. I went to jump but it started to rain right as i was driving up so i said im gonna go in anyway. Glenn, the ST&A asked me if i was gonna take the test and i said alright. Since there is studying that has to be done I went and picked up a SIM book and started studying. After 3 hours of studying, and a half of pack of ciggeretts, it was time to take the test. After getting a beer we made our way to the class room downstairs. After everyone was done we graded the test and i found out i recieved a 100 percent so i went and got another beer. After that the night was uneventful except for getting in a fight w/ my friend because we were told we couldnt smoke in the back seat. Had to take our minds off of smoking so we stared hittin' each other. No injuries though. So hopefully this brings everyone up a little. I got my A license!!!!! wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo blue skies, cold beer chris Edited by sangiro on 4/2/01 01:05 PM.

It wont be too hard to downgrade to a 150. I went from a slightly eliptacal 190 ( safire ) and that was on a Saturday, by my third jump on Sunday i was down to a 150. Just got off student status and am going to jump a stelleto 150 or safire 135. BE SAFE cold skies, blue beer chris

Alright, I'm not at home but thats the feeling I get whenever I go to Skydive Chicago. I went through my whole student program @ skydive chicago and I haven't seen a nicer dz. Whether it's scenery, parties, peaceful serinity, or just a good first jump expierence, I've experienced all of that at Skydive Chicago. Huge landing area, private air strip, Excellent student/rental gear, manifest goddesses, and the Fox River 10,000ft below you as you fly around the mid west skies. Who can complain when you receive a free keg of beer because it had no place else to go!! If you are in Illinois and you're a skydiver come out to Skydive Chicago because you'll never be at a dropzone that is as unique and progressive. chris.

The only canopy ive ever used is a safire 190, 170, and 150 and i cant seem to get the landing down, i always have to run it out and its a little rough on my left ankle ( the foot that hits the ground first ) ive had jump masters tell me to flare it ALL the way for a nice tip toe landing. it's definatly fun to fly, crispy turns and easy to stop where you want. just need to practice the flare a little. since im learning to pack there is no comment on if it packs good or not. the rigger at my dz says its not hard to pack at all. I'm looking to purchase a used/post student safire 135 unless something i jump totally blows the safire away. blue skies, cold beer chris

I just want to say thanx to everyone who contributed to this thread. Sounds like the most contaversial thread in here which had made me realize b4 i jump a 135 stelleto im going to try a 135 safire. it i like it im going to put a 135 in my container rather than a 150. What up to all the skydive chicago represent, matt, maura, leo. and maura, ronco up at skydive illinois says to say hello. Everyone up at skydive illinois seems awesome and i was suprised to hear that they are going to install a 15' wind tunnel by thanksgiving. blue skies, cold beer chris

Leo, Kirk was telling me that the talon would be alright for freeflying for now but i definatly would want to upgrad to an all flap system eventually, all i need to do is get some credit so i can get a credit card and by like a javilin w/ it. Kirk is going to replace all the velcro for free if i buy it so im going to try it on and i asked him if i could use a canopy to do one "test" jump b4 i buy it. blue skies, cold beer chris

Barry, I'm totally not trying to rag on you and be a Mr. know it all. I'm just young, stupid, and crazy. But above all that, i definatly follow the golden rules. I'll definatly stay ahead of the jump and i leave lots of room for error. Thanks for your best wishes blue skies, cold beer chris

At skydive chicago you do your 3rd jump ( AFP lvl 1 ) using a safire which is partially eliptical canopy and I was told by a JM there that a stelleto would be my next level. My jump weight is just shy of 155lbs. and i dont swoop, personally i think swooping is flirting with the injury fairy. anyway ill be at Skydive chicago on sat after traffic school and probably sunday too. Leo, tell nancy in manifest to page me or if she has seen me, im probably the youngest jumper there ( off student status ) and won't be hard to point out. blue skies, cold beer chris

i guess i'd have to see a stilleto in action. I dont think i know what im getting myself into. I'd also like to get an opinion of one of the jm at my DZ. They probably know how good i am at flying a canopy better than i do. we'll see... blue skies, cold beer chris
-
Leo, thanx alot man, I would like to try that stiletto as long as landing is not much different, i'd probably pull at 4k or maybe 5k and play until 1k then set up my landing pattern. i think as long as i dont do anything stupid i'll be able to handle it. the safire has given me a stand up landing 22 out of 25 times so i might take you up on that offer. blue skies, cold beer chris

I'm thinking about buying a Talon container w/ velcro reserve flap, a downward facing tuck main flap and BOC. I am pretty new to the sport ( 25 jumps ) and i was wondering what your thought are on this container. I'll also probably put a saphire 150 in there. Give me your thoughts and feedback whether its positive or negitive. i.e. problems w/ talons and so on... blue skies, cold beer chris ps: the container w/ reserve is $500

Since there seems to be a stupid question theme to this thread, i might as well ask....what does rof mean at the begining of rof lmfao? blue skies, cold beer chris

Sis, Thats exactly what i think and when i tell people i plan on living in a trailer, skydiving, and loving life, they always have a puzzled look on their face and ask, " live in a trailer?" i say hell yeah, i work 5 days a week right now, in an office, next to a window. All day planes fly over my head ( right by ohare airport ) and its pure torture!! All this crap is not needed to live. I'm pretty unhappy and i make good money ( for my age ) and i dont feel its worth it. I just needed to share w/ my fellow skydivers. What's your thought on this? Blue skies, cold beer chris
-
well hell...i love crack so i'll probably love it there in AZ! bastard blue skies, cold beer chris

I think that would have made a more memorable expierence if you flew next to him and did some flips or docked w/ him. I'm hoping to meet some cute tandem hunnies and asking their tandem master if i can lurk and let them see somebody actually flying in front of them doing some cool crap. blue skies, cold beer chris
-
that guy cracked me up!!! did you see when the jm was trying to pull his hand back for is pht's? " That guy saved my life; I love this guy! I love you man!" lmfao!! he wasnt budging. That cartoon was a little crack head guy too. Looked like a caveman or something blue skies, cold beer chris

jtval, that tlc show was pretty good, i taped it ( on a friday night at 9pm im hoping to be drunk ) and watched it on sunday. the skydiving segment explained freeflying and showed some pretty bad mals ( cut away at about 100ft ). it also followed two first jumpers from beginning of class to touch down. It also had a lot of good B.A.S.E. footage. the medical reasons for why we do this were funny too. blue skies, cold beer chris
