Good Info If You Want To Learn About Skydiving
Casch replied to Casch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If your wondering what it is like to skydive, you should check out How Stuff Works You'll learn what to expect when you jump, you'll learn a little about the gear that is used (more so than you would probably learn if you made only one Tandem jump). You'll also see that skydiving isn't nearly as dangerous as you might think. There are several clips that show how the gear used in skydiving is operated. And when your finished reading the article, come back here, sign up if you haven't already and introduce yourself. -
LOL, awesome Signiture hehe

As long as you find out what your missing...where's the problem. Of course skipping shouldn't become a habit, but having a fun day now and then isn't a big deal. Your paying for the classes so do what you want.

That is F'n scary! I haven't been in the sport very long, but I feel pretty darn safe at my DZ and I trust that no one would F*&^ with my stuff. Now that I hear this it makes me wonder...I really hope that this was an accident and I'm glad it didn't become a real mess for you. Blue skies man

When I deploy, I get ready about 3-5 hundred feet before hand, and I watch my altimeter the whole time. That way I know exactly where I am and how much time I have.

Right on guys, thanks for the input

When I was in 7th grade I was in the school band, and every time we had a performance my stomach would hurt and I would feel nausious. It felt like I had to go to the bathroom or something but I really didn't. It would go away as soon as I got on stage. I get the same feeling up until I get in the plane. I'm not nervous about jumping anymore, I LOVE to jump, but I still get the feeling. I don't think your the only one

Your saying your only recently noticing the pain in your joints? A big contrabution to that I would imagine is the beginning of the cold weather. I'm sure by next spring when it warms up you won't even notice.

I took a look at the helmet after the post and saw that is wasn't bole hehe...anyways, yeah I suppose I wouldn't have to cut it off, I could just tape it. But the riggers are probably right, it probably wouldn't cause much of a problem even if it snagged cause it's such weak material.

Thank you, good info in that thread. Here is my helmet. I was wrong...I think Bole makes sunglasses (o garfas de sol) The helmet is made by boeri. I think it was about $40 at Big 5 or something. It is actually a pretty good helmet for the money. I got it when I first started snowboarding and on my 1st run on a real slope (no more tow rope for me!) I was going straight down on a steep slope and caught an edge and when sliding head first right into a solid chunk of ice...my neck hurt but my head was aight! I will be cutting off the goggle strap before I jump it don't worry.

I'm not a real big fan of my DZ's Pro-tec helmets, and I was thinking about asking them if I could wear my snowboard helmet. It's not much different in shape, but it's more comfortable, fits better and is probably a lot stronger. It does have one of those goggle keeper tabs on the back but I will take that off since it is a possible snag point. What do you think?

It would be nice if a new helmet could be designed with a build in camera with all the options that the newer Sony's have. I think it would be pretty do-able. Maybe have A/V ports on the back of the helmet so you can plug it right into mixing equipment or a tv. And have the camera incorporated into the helmet so well that you would hardly be able to tell it was there...no snag points

I get those damned things all the time.

I used to play Counter-Strike obsessivly, when I got into skydiving I changed my nic to Redline and made this spray logo. I just thought I would share...it's about the most artistic thing I've ever done on a computer hehe sad

Sounds interesting, care to share a bit more about the group?

hehe Angel likes to groom my cat but she gets a little rough sometimes...I know...she likes to groom my hair and every once in a while she will clamp down on a tuft of hair and thrash around like a dog playing tug of war...it hurts like a biatch

LOL I used to have 2 gerbils but one got fed up with the gerbil food and ate the other gerbil...
-
LOL I remember when I first got her, I wanted to see if her "instincts" were still in tact and I introduced her to a gerbil...it wasn't easy to get the gerbil head out of her mouth and keep it attached to the body

She's off runnin around the house right now...hehe. If I took her tandem during nap time she would never know it. I once thought she was dead cause when I picked her up she was totally out of it. She wasn't moving at all. This went on for 5 minutes before she finally opened her eyes and nipped me
