  1. I always tighten my legs straps as much as possible. I think most people will say this. When you were jumping student gear did you ever leave slack in the leg straps? Well I have and it can be pretty painful on opening especially if the straps want to migrate down your legs and are near your middle thigh/knees on opening. Mine haven't moved that much, but enough to be uncomfortable. Definately have them shorten the straps.

  3. I hope things are turning around but please don't hesitate to contact the authorities if it starts happening again.
  4. Don't forget PHSS - Poor HighSchool Student Skydiver
  5. That sounds very possible. She hadn't jumped for a while and lost alti awareness and is blaming it on the container. Think about it. If you had a hard pull and had to rely on your cypress wouldn't you want the local rigger to examine the container and figure out why you had the hard pull?? Of course this is all speculation on my part so take it with a grain of salt but it sounds like she forgot to pull and is trying to pass the buck.

    Diets!

So are you going to be our free personal trainer??? Do you have that damn "you can look, but not touch" rule???
  7. Most helmets provide pretty good protection from hitting the door on exit or being kicked or something in freefall, or having a bad landing where you hit your head. That's about all their for. I can't really think of any other use, other than mounting a camera to.
  8. We've got an Otter and a C182 or 2. I just got back from jumping. YEAH I'M OFF STUDENT STATUS BABY!!!!! My grad dive was awesome except when I went to track away...ohhh really ugly. I was tracking north, then east, then northwest....I need to work on that. The worst part of the dive though was when I was done with the grad part, I was planning to dock on my JM, but we were lower than I thought and he had to point at his Alti when we hit 4K...my pull altitude. I was soooo pissed that I lost awareness, and it scared me that I could lose it so easily just because I was actually jumping with someone. It was my first jump in a month and I think the fact that I had something else to focus on (my JM), is what caused me to lose awareness...NEVER AGAIN!!! CHECK ALTI AND CHECK OFTEN!!!!!! On my second jump I had a minor malfunction. When the canopy opened, my wrist was tangled up in my right brake line that had come unstowed...along with the left line. After I freed my wrist, I noticed that the toggles were tied together. Right after opening, the canopy was turning/diving to the right, but I stopped that after freeing my wrist. I noticed after I had gotten the canopy stable, my left hand had been on my SOS handle the whole time, that made me smile. I pulled some slack brake line down so that I could untie the lines with the other hand. The whole time I was untieing my lines I was thinking...should I go silver??? If I can't untie this am I still going to be able to land safely??? How the F*&^ did this HAPPEN!!!! After I talked with the DZO, it was determined that what most likely happened was I had not stowed the brakes tight enough and the slack in the brakes wrapped around my wrist. As to how the toggles tied themselves together...shit happens. I can't figure it out. All in all I had a kick ass day.
  9. Finally the weather and my wallet are agreeing that it's time for me to get back in the air. Clear blue skies in kapowsin! I'm gonna jump in the shower and go! GO! did someone say go??? WHAHOOO!

  15. In my Community 101 program we are researching different non-profit oraganizations in oregon that focus on hunger. We'll be handing a large cash donation to the organization and I was wondering if anyone here knows of any particular organizations to choose from.

    an asshole story

    Who wouldn't "Get" it???? Idiots!
  17. If you spend some time in the forums (around a couple weeks) you'll find that you can learn TONS!!!! I can't tell you how much I've learned in the month and a half that I have been a member. This is truely one of the best, if not the best place to be online for a skydiver (except for ftp://ftp.skydivingmovies.com/, you can learn a lot there too, and keep very entertained)
  18. When all else fails: Run the avi and pause where you want the pic and hit CTRL+PRINT SCREEN and paste into an image editing program. It's a bit of an arcane way to go about things but it works.
  19. Women have lower insurance because when they get in accidents, it's from retarded mistakes and end up being low cost. Generally caused by trying to put on make-up while driving or some other multi-tasking related reason. DAMN GIRLS!!!! Put your make-up on at home! Now I'm not saying that all women are bad drivers, there are VERY good female drivers out there that are really pissed that all the other stupid chics are getting in lame ass accidents. So before you flame me, just remember I wasn't necessarily talking about you.
  20. Hi Shu, I'm glad to see you're your so excited. You're about to start an amazing chaper in your life. One that will lead to many more exciting chapers in the future if you decide that it's for you. I agree with everyone else here. Do a Tandem first then decide from there. I made my first jump in August, and I went static-line. I can't really explain why I chose to go static since I didn't really think that I would make another jump (CHOMP the bug bit the hell out of me), I think it was because I wanted to do everything myself. One very good thing about taking a static-line course is that you have a VERY powerful motivation to succeed. Freefall. But by making a Tandem jump first you'll be able to enjoy an incredible ride and in the end decide whether or not altitude is something you want to persue. That said, the best of luck to you on your upcoming skydiving career. Blue Skies!

Yeah man don't take away sunshine's fuck time!!!
  24. You know what, I'm a semi-christian...well actually I don't really associate myself with a particular religion because every one of them has some crappy flaw. Anyways I believe in God and I would have no problem "Selling my Soul". Fact is that a signed piece of paper means nothing to God. You can't physically sell your soul, so why not? Actually it sounds like a good idea. Instead of selling the whole thing, sell "shares" and offer a newsletter to shareholders???

    SON OF A....

LOL I thought the same thing when he brought it home. "Son of a B@&^$, why the hell would did buy that!" But the fact is it's a cool truck. It was built low-rider style so it wasn't an aftermarket deal, and my dad sunk a sweet a$$ stereo in it. I'm just glad that insurance will cover every penny for repairs. Both front fenders, the hood and the entire front assembly of the engine need to be replaced...
