Preferred video formats for skydivingmovies.com
Casch replied to billvon's topic in Photography and Video
You can also go to http://www.divx.com/divx/ on occasion and download the most current DIVX codec. But I personally HATE DIVX. I know it's a great compressor codec but the loss of quality isn't worth it IMO. I would rather wait an hour for something to download, go grab a bite to eat to pass the time, and return to a BEAUTIFUL skydiving video instead of the pixelated crap that DIVX spits out. But for those that treasure their download time, I guess DIVX is for you. -
Don't you hate having to act like a sales guy when you're not?

Gawd I hate having to explain to people why you can't "Make CD's off of Grokster/Morpheus/Kaza". -
...Title says it all

Well, I would say Oregon so I could get a chance to jump with another DZ.com'er but STAY AWAY!!!! YOU WILL RARELY GET TO JUMP between october and february!b Go to ARIZONA and I'll meet you there in a few years

when I was 15, I ended up sitting next to a sports photographer. He was pretty cool. He showed me some pix, most of them were "conventional" sports, but he had some skiing/snowboarding/ skydiving (of course those were taken from the ground). He even offered to give me a tour of some news station (ch.2 news...I forget).

Holy crap!!! I tried that and I involuntarily flew out of my seat and out the door of my bedroom LMAO! I think I stubbed my toe! I think I'm gonna sue you SKYDIVEMONKEY!

Damn, you read that fast...it was barely posted. No hard feelings toward you or anyone else, it's just my opinion and it always erks me when I see/hear the phrase. Especially hear it...I have had good friends say things about my friends that live in the local trailor court and I have told them the same thing. I know you obviously did not mean it, and it was only humor...so uh...where's all the BOOBIES!!!!!!!!!!!

There's nothing wrong with living in a trailor, jumpers do it all the time! [RANT][RANT][RANT] Seriously though the only difference between "Trailor Trash" as you put it, and you/me, most of us here really, is money. If my dad got laid off, well we would probably become "Trailor Trash" which is a real posibility if his employer continues with layoffs. It's funny how so many of us can form opinions about people we have never met. I think Brittany Spears is attractive, she sounds like a nice/good person from what I have heard from interviews and from what I've read in the past. Then again we all know that we must take the written word with a grain of salt because we're all human (including reporters) and we throw in some of our opinions/lies. The fact is that unless you have actually had the chance to get to know a person, it doesn't make any sense to criticize them. I have no patience for the phrase "Trailor Trash". It is near equal to the word "Nigger" in my mind. Neither word has a place in todays society. I have a lot of friends that aren't as fortunate as my family has been financially. They don't have computers, they have 1 TV if that, and no cable. They might have a radio, they live in a small corner of an aluminum sided trailor. And they are good people. [/RANT][/RANT][/RANT] Ok I'm done.

hehe, somehow I don't think the authorities at KAS would be happy if a student rig was missing a closing pin...it's somewhat important

Should I buy from www.FreakThreads.com or www.Ground-Rush.com or from some other place. All places look cool. Ground-Rush has the "Ricky" that I really think looks cool. Then again, it sounds like although FreakThreads may not have as much of an attention grabbing site, sounds like they aim to please and can probably make a kickin' necklace. Does anyone wanna share their wisdom/experience? I am open to suggestions.

I say if you have put this money aside to jump, and it's not going to hurt you/your wife financially, JUMP! I figure that little bit of extra money, is just that! Do what YOU want with it.

If I were to run outside and take a picture of the sky earlier today, this might be what you would see.

In just about all situations of being sub 1000 at terminal I would be pulling silver. I don't trust the student mains to open quick enough. My longest opening was 1000ft over Morgans pond. Some how the spring loaded PC hesitated and the canopy finally came out of the bag after I looked over my shoulder. After I get to the ground, I would proceed to the nearest alcohol vendor and buy a 5th for the rigger. (Assuming I got the ground without massive trauma...)

Hmmm, I check my reserve pin before and after every jump...I urge everyone to do the same.
-
Yeah and for the price of a brand new container I could fly there! Man I wish it were cheaper to travel! (Anyone wanna smuggle me on a cruise ship?

I repeated only my last PRCP. And for a good reason: In previous jumps my JM has been 1 of 2 people. On this jump, it was someone I had never met before and he made me nervous. He didn't know my skills and he kept bothering me in the plane telling me what to do when I already knew what to do (I did it right the first two times right?). So instead of being able to go through the jump in my head, I was thinking about how nice it would have been if this guy would just shut his trap and let me do what I needed to do. Now I don't know how this happened but the bag came out of the container a lot faster than previous jumps and when I reached for the handle, all I could find were flaps. I looked for a few more seconds until the canopy opened. I was soooo PISSED! But I've never had any stability problems that held me back. I do think there are very skilled people that can keep a very cool mind, and have very good muscle control/memory. And some people that are developing that muscle control in freefall . I know about a lady that finally got to her freefall jumps after 16 jumps...

I don't do BASE and I won't for some time, but I definately want to some day. How COOL would it have been to jump the Petronas Towers? (I know I probably didn't spell that right, but I'm lazy)
-
CONGRATS!!!! I have had only 1 true stand up landing so far...usually I misjudge my flare so when I touch down, my body is a little ahead of the canopy so I slide in, do a touch and go on my ass then run it out. It works for me Of course when I start jumping my own suit I will have to learn to touch the ground solely with the soles of my shoes.

Drag-n-drop baby! but I'm using IE so nevermind

Good ling--------->Clickified No biggie but when you post links like that, you have to include the "http://" otherwise it thinks you are pointing to an address on DZ.com
