  1. We also did long jump competitions and high jump. My running long jump was 9ft, the best long jump was 10ft. I am NOT a small guy, I'm 5'9" and 245lbs and I was rivaling my friends who are about the same height and more than 100lbs lighter LOL it does sort of look like I could be in a wind tunnel...nope, no windtunnel, it's all me
  2. Nah I landed dead center on my ass and bounced back on my feet
  3. So it's Poker night, my dad's out losing money to his closest friends while my friends and I are at my house bored out of our minds... So what are some of the things you do when you're bored out of your mind?
  4. This is great! Just a few days ago you just could NOT understand us... It makes me happy to see that you have caught the bug, welcome!
  5. On the News page, under "Quick Links:" on the left, the "People" link is listed twice. Just thought I'd let ya know.
  6. This thread has officially been HIJACKED

    That would be a trip!
  8. I'm thinking about that too...I have a couple pretty decent tents and i love to camp, but I don't know if i could last the whole summer in a tent...
  9. Hmmm, I'm 18...I've been seriously thinking about spending the summer at Kapowsin...I just need to get my hands on a trailer 'cause I don't think I would last living in a cargo van which would be my only choice at the moment. I've had a cell for a little over a year now. My dad bought it for me 'cause I do a lot of driving between Portland, OR and Spokane, WA...and eastern oregon...and western washington...and california...the list goes on. It is just common sense now days to have a cell with you when you travel. You can live without it, but it would just make things more difficult than they have to be
  10. I think it's a shame for the music industry that people feel no need to support the artists. Yeah they may only make 10 cents off the sale of a CD, probably less, but think about it...if 100,000 people decided that they would rather support their favorite artists...then that artist makes an extra 10 mil. It adds up. I'm not going to sit here and tell ya that I don't download music, I download music all the time. The difference is this; if I decide that I like the music, I buy the CD. If I don't like the music, I delete it. I have just over a gig of mp3's right now, which really isn't that much at all, but I have most of the CD's too.
  11. THANKS BOOBIECOOTIE!! Hey the video didn't turn out half bad! I wish I could say all my landings have been that sweet
  12. Are you sure this guy skydives??? He doesn't sound like the type! Seriously though, if he's a true perfectionist...chances are very good he will never change. You'll just have to let him take care of things on his own, even if it DOES take 500 jumps to get there, he'll have to get there on his own.
  13. 578(6:46):6:1 578 miles driven (to the dz and back home) or 6 hours and 46 minutes of total driving time. . 6 jumps, all RW with BoobieCootie and a 3-way with BoobieCootie and Bill (non-DZ.commer) . 1 more jump to get my A license (check dive)

    WHOA! Close one!

Ok here's the deal. I'm 18, I'm irresponsible and I have an '84 Mustang GT convertible with a throaty V8...I decided to do a few cookies in a few poorly selected interestions at about 10:30 PM. I figure...by the time someone realises I'm there...I'll be gone. Well there are some QUICK elderly people around here...DAMN! I did a 360 cookie and took off...went to my friends house and was hanging out. A half hour later, two cops show up at my door asking for Ben. Well...I'm Josh..I don't know a Ben, then they ask for the owner of the red Mustang...oh..that's me! So I step outside and talk with a cop not much older than me. While one cop takes me outside to talk, the other comes inside to quiz my friends that were in the car at the time. I'm freakin' out 'cause I hear him ask them if their parents are home...I'm more afraid of them than I am of going to jail. Anyway the cop I'm talking to happens to be the same cop that chased my friend and I when we were trespassing on a school roof (in 7th grade)...and the same cop that pulled me over for dead breaklights a couple years ago. But he's still really cool and wasn't too intimidating. He asks me if I knew why he was here...I'm not gonna be stupid, I told him exactly why he was here. He continues to tell me that "driving like and ass" is a misdemeanor yadda yadda. Believe it or not I DID take this seriously and I don't be doing this again. Anyway their main agenda was to find out if I had been drinking, so he did his little "follow the pen" test and I passes with flying colors. He told me that he would go and talk with the people that called me in to get a little more information and depending on that, he may or may not come back and cite me and/or tow my car. Afterwards I told the officer that when he went to the persons house that reported me, to tell them that I apoligise for what I did and that it wouldn't be happening again. A few minutes later he tells me the chances of my car being towed are next to nill. Well it is now 2 hours later and they haven't showed up again so I think I'm in the clear! And my friends mom never woke up even when the other officer was quizing my friends...THANK GOD. Anyway I just thought I would share my story for tonight...and I'm praying that I don't get cited because I'm planning on making several jumps this weekend...I need my money!

    Dedicated BASE Tower

I know next to nothing about BASE, but I'm wondering...would it be financially possible to build your own dedicated BASE tower and run it like a DZ? Charge like...$5 per jump or something? The only reason I can think of that this wouldn't work is the whole liability thing, but if a solid waiver could be produced to take liability from the operator...What are your thoughts? Forgive me if this has been discussed, I know I saw a thread about prices for building a tower, but I don't remember it mentioning anything else...

It's because you forgot the "http://" Here ya go Max
  18. That's friggin awesome! Thanks!
  19. Ok, at 29 jumps I should really be focusing on getting my license. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the "A" license exam?
  20. Hi there and welcome to the sport. Well I can't say I have had the surgery, but for my first 8 or so jumps, my ears were giving me a really hard time. I would clear them under canopy and on the ground several times and I would have pressure problems for several days after a jump. After about 9 jumps the problem began to subside and now I have no problem with it. I do recommend using some quality earplugs. I plan to start wearing them because the noise of the plane and freefall will over time damage your hearing.
  21. How the heck did "mother nature create these round balls" and yall...get your minds out of the gutter Oh wait...maybe it's just me
  22. What your feeling is a lot like what I went through with Static-line training. My first jump without the static-line was a little unsettling. I had all those crazy butterflies and such. Mix that with a long absense from skydiving and you're all freaked out. It's perfectly normal to be anxious, what isn't normal is throwing yourself from an aircraft 2 miles above the earth. It's just NOT NORMAL!!! But you will get used to it. I recommend going to the DZ and just talking with your instructors and possibly other students. I think you'll find that your anxiety will subside enough to get you in (and out) of the plane.
