Seriously, both of you please take your pissing match / blonde defends her bf to the talk back forum. I am getting tired of coming in here to read and learn and share information on swooping only to see this shit and others are too. If you can't play nice don't. FYI blondie, let your bf handle his own posting, it makes him look far more credible. ~Chachi

Sidemount and ring sight when filming tandem for pay
chachi replied to j3zz's topic in Photography and Video
Straight up if you are being paid for a video you should be using a ring sight, and a cam eye. No excuses they lend to knowing what you have in frame and knowing that you are recording. ~Chachi -
HELP ON CANOPY CONTROL-MY LANDINGS SUCK
chachi replied to VampireGirl's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Probably one of the smartest things to do when gaining information from people that do not know you, your skills , or your canopy. Digest, ask questions. Smart girl. ~Chachi -
HELP ON CANOPY CONTROL-MY LANDINGS SUCK
chachi replied to VampireGirl's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Yes she should go to a canopy with performance. I do not simply mean speed performance, I mean a Sabre simply lands better and easier than most F111 canopies. It provides more brakes and more lift, for a better landing. Also I do not believe F111 canopies are very good transitional canopies as they do nothing when people go from that to any 170 ior less ZP canopy, which is what everyone will be jumping. Also many F111 canopies can be completely done at 8-900 jumps providing almost no lift unless the flare is timed perfect to stall the canopy at ground level. Take my advice for what it is, advice, but many dropzones are training students on lightly loaded Sabres for many beneficial reasons. ~Chachi -
Holy shit that was funny.... GFD, your awesome, would love to meet you in person. ~Chachi

teach their students to "feel" the flare?
chachi replied to skyhighkiy's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
The reason you were taught flare, flare, flare and keep flaring is because that is the basics of life saving. The basics you need to know to slow down and prevent injury. If we taught a staged, feel the flare type thing people would be thinking to much and not flaring enough. Even on a cross braced no matter what, you finish your flare even if you are skipping across the pond or ground. Flare = Brakes. People can get coaching later on flaring, staging it, and yes most figure out the a lot by just taking the basics and applying it to real world. Keep learning all!! Keep safe!! ~Chachi -
HELP ON CANOPY CONTROL-MY LANDINGS SUCK
chachi replied to VampireGirl's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
To be perfectly honest I don't like f111 canopies in the least and don't feel they should be in circulation anymore. We should be working students down on large sabres because the flare is much different, and yes more powerful. An f111 canopy also has a life of around 1000 jumps so yes effectively your canopy is probably worn out. Another reason is the canopy may have terrble line trim causing poor performance. I would suggest getting onto a sabre if you can. No need to spend a day longer learning how to flare a canopy that is worn out and didn't have a great flare to begin with. Remember though, whatever ZP canopy that you downsize or even change to will have a faster approach, so be careful, get instruction, and wok on your life saving skills, ie. flat turns, flare turns, and most importantly your accuracy. Be safe. ~Chachi -
My point was to illustrate that we as BASE jumpers do sometimes trust people to pack our last saving device, but only in our skydiving containers where we are required to have a rigger pack it. My original point was still clear, why bring BASE into this topic of discussion, there is no coralation. We are talking about paying someone to pack your primary canopy in the skydiving world and you are talking about why people that only have one parachute in a totally different sport wouldn't pay a packer $5.00 to save themselves a little time. ~Chachi

I honestly won't give an amen. I realize there are a lot of accidents waiting to happen in the skydiving community with people on DANGEROUS canopies but I do not think you are one of them. A sabre 190 although faster than your Manta is actually a reasonable canopy to learn and teach you the skills you need. I see no point in making people jump crappy beat out F-111 210's till they get 100-200 jumps and then putting them on a sabre 150 where they have no real world experience to keep alive. 1.29:1 on a sabre 190 is not exactly a dangerous wing loading. Some dropzones are training students under sabre 190's and even 170's in the canopy progression program. On to you though, Don't make me regret my words though, any canopy faster than a Goliath 420 can kill you. Sabre's are zippier canopies so my advice is jump it but learn everything you can. High altitude hop n pops will give you time to learn the life saving skills such as flat turns and flare turns. Keep your approaches striaght in, don't be in a rush to add turns onto final as much as it looks cool. #1 though, learn accuracy, it is the foundation of landing in the safe location that you chose. Pull on everything up high.(above 2K, that should be your hard deck for now) Figure out what happens when you pull on one riser and one toggle, pull everything, stall your canopy, bow tie it in half and learn how to recover it. You name it do it, then you will know. Get a Neptune and really figure out how much altitude loss is associated with each manouver. Analog dials are not an accurate tool in my opinion. Follow the guidance of your coaches and ask all the questions you can of the canopy pilots around you. ~Chachi Edited cuz i do math like a 4 year old in the morning.

Why are you trying to compare apples to oranges. These are not comparible topics. First ,BASE and skydiving have a parachute in common and that is about it. Second, some BASE jumpers do pay for packs, their skydiving reserves. That's who would be qualified to (maybe) pack a BASE canopy. Third, when it is your one and only option you probably don't want to pay someone that works on volume. As I said though, completely uncomparable. ~Chachi

it must really suck for you when there are no packers available or you go to a new DZ and dont know any of the packers. I think it's weak...... Very weak. I think your jealous you don't pay have the $$ to just include packer in the cost of your jumps. I think critisizing people choice to pack themselves or not is weak, lame, or any other word you want to call it. FYI I pack for myself usually but who are we to call someones choice weak. Their money, their choice. ~Chachi

Every packer will disagree with me but I'm sorry, you are paid very well for the 7 minutes of work you do. I do not tip packers and using the I change your closing loop and rubber bands doesn't wash with me. Changing my rubber bands after you break em being fast and changing my closing loop when you rip your packing tool through it is part of the job too. But seriously, keeping me on the load is why you are my packer. ~Chachi

Not exactly advanced math there. LOL @ QUADE, to funny man.

Even if I told you it was your girlfriend? Actually, yeah because I would rather know before she cheated on me that she really didn't want to be with me anymore. I would forgive her if she could look me in the eye and say she didn't cheat on me and wanted to end it before she did. ~Chachi

My view is different. Intimacy is a fundamental part of the human experience, and it's a legit thing to expect from a partner. Plus, my experience has been that "not getting any" is just the tip of the iceberg... it reflects a disconnect at other levels. I totally agree, sex and intimacy is an integral part of a relationship and you can usually determine how your relationship is going by the regularity and quality of your sex life. If I wasn't getting any, I would be gone because getting turned down all the time does terrible things for your self esteem. Also, your kids deserve to see loving and cuddling and all the things that make up a healthy relationhsip so they know that is important naturally when they get to that age. People who come from frigid homes turn out to be non effectionate and emotionally closed off people. ~Chachi

I agree with your friend. If someone told me that it would be ready no later than Friday I expect that. There is a saying in business that you should under promise and over deliver. If this happened to me and I had no warning that it would be late or no reasonable excuse I would be mad and I would never use that shop again. The business did give your friend their word and he believed them. Then they let him down. ~Chachi

don't even get me started on you... lol ... thanks for the hook up bro I had a great time and learned a ton. maybe you can actually hire me "early" for next year unless you prefer looking for a camera dude 15 minutes before load 1 again, lol. ~Chachi
