come to canada, the land of $15 hop n' pops from 3K. :( ghey...
-
reading this it makes it look like the CPC has been around for 10 years and we have all been struggling to make the pro ranks for just as long. let's put this back into perspective. the CPC was created only a single year ago. before that, you were good enough to compete in the one ghey regional competition that someone held at their dz some saturday morning. now because you win your area, and did well in one other competition you need to be handed your pro card or that's it? i know im kinda pointing at you marks, but im really talking to all the bitchers. how about start to feel lucky that there is a competition circuit that you can easilt attend, part of something national, holds a championship you can attend, and may open up some opportunities for you that you otherwise would not have had. i for one feel that those are all a BIG deal because before this came along i would have had a much harder time of things. stop bitching about the CPC, what a great tool to train and learn. i agree it could use tweaking but with the entire sport being so new, and us being the pioneers (more so guys like Jim S.) be part of the solution and participate. if it doesn't fit into your goals don't do it. SuperStu was right on the money.

^ pretty bang on post.

^ why the longest riser advice?
-
my advice is don't play with riser length / canopy dive until you really want a longer dive. way more important things to perfect first. as for your slider i messed with many different things and then settled on the ball / elastic on the rig. simple and safe. if you chop, it is gone.

Longer lines - slack in the rear lines and rear risers
chachi replied to frost's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
interesting - i just ordered an hma lineset from icarus nz for my VX and was told that they have mod'd the d lines to take out the slack and make the rears more sensitive. -
my personal guide to swooping is easy. get coached, be honest to yourself with your progression, do hop n pops, get video ...and do not come online seeking coaching or advice on canopy selection,

Discussion on that rear-riser tandem swoop.
chachi replied to Mikki_ZH's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
swooping tandems is like TM's wearing handcams. If you have 1000+ tandems you can start making informed decisions based on your skill level. before thats (approx.) you are playing with fire. -
people will continue to learn better techniques as more and more guys keep going to compete at CPC / PRO level and come back to their dropzones to offer clinics and such.

^ chris is 100% accurate when he says even maintaining the amount of deaths injuries would be a huge success. look at increased amount of people getting onto high performance platforms this year, the people that did large downsizes, and the amount of people moving onto a xbrace platform (team PD doesn't pay for itself). some very standardized teaching methods when it comes to swooping have made a massive difference for sure. if the sport grows, the amount of high performance canopy pilots grows and the death / injury stays the same we are actually having a positive impact. that said, it is never enough effort put towards safety, education, and coaching.

only providing general statements
-
most guys stick the entire hand in and use a couple fingers for the dive loops and thumb and forefinger for the rears. its also what i do. using a few fingers through your toggle is a good way to lose it.
-
wow, ok - you're right, i'm wrong feel better?
-
it was not my intention to make him look stupid when i wrote the post. honestly my point was that people need to listen more and talk less. he boldly made statements about a well educated / informed individual and i made just as bold of a statement back. oh, and FYI pot - kettle - black
-
^ why is this thread back? ghey :| dude - dont come on to the boards and make yourself look stupid. brian germain happens to know a thing or two about what he's talking about. like enough to write a book.... and have it published ..... and have oh, i dont know, thousands of skydivers buy it. you have like 200+ jumps and what degree?

How does a X-fire 2 perform if slightly underloaded?
chachi replied to BlindBrick's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
honestly, you should treat your physical health in this game just as important as the canopy training you get. swooping is a sport not tolerent of out of shape. just my $.02 -
How does a X-fire 2 perform if slightly underloaded?
chachi replied to BlindBrick's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
i think you should demo the canopies before you buy. if you cant pull your risers down you need to find alternate methods to help you. ie. flaring before initiation to relieve the pressure or using your harness input a lot more. get some coaching. -
who's asking? dz xmas party would be a great place for you guys to meet all the jumpers here. ian and debbie's place, call the dz at 604.465.7311 for the info.

in case anyone missed it, skyride is being sued by skydive arizona and thos PD boys ripped it up in russia 3 months ago
-
im saying that for a professional website that generates $$ that maybe the actual skydiving news could be updated
-
chachi = IP BANNED countdown....
-
i bet the moderators are already linking this thread to HH as we speak.
-
i think for a $$ generating website the articles and pace in which the news page is updated sucks. please discuss.
-
who gives a fuck? really - the question has been answered, why continue to beat this up?
