  1. what "industry"? check around and ask all the DZs in the area - I doubt it's a big secret ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
  2. I try to wear my RW suit for RW, my FF suit to FF, and my camera jacket when filming. But, if I don't want to wear the RW suit, I find that baggy pants help a lot. I wore my tight FF suit on a belly jump on Sunday (my RW has the FULL size booties) and the lack of response in comparison was ridiculous. ... 3. age and eyeglasses are very random reasons to shoot down a potential - attitude about race (demonstrated anger at something random) surely would be a good reason sounds like the defense did a crappy job balancing out the offense in the selection phase the process needed fixing - however, the evidence is in the process (age and eyeglasses???) not the results which you cite based on cosmetics alone. 1 - the outrage should be over rejection of ANY candidate for eyeglasses etc (abuse of process) 2 - the outrage should not be over the racial quota you seem to define as fair you fix #1, then it's balance for everyone. you try to fix #2 instead of #1, then you create unproductive discord you seem to be looking for favoritism, instead of equal treatment a real solution looks at process, not quotas - else you are perpetuating and aggravating crappy attitudes ... 4. I'm sure *YOU* would be - however, that would be just as 'racist' as an all-white jury. In that, under a fair selection process, it shouldn't matter if it happens in either scenario. If there is any indication of unfair bias in the selection process - the review should be the selection process, not just the cosmetic outcome. i.e., all black, all white, or any type of other meaningless cosmetic mix, shouldn't matter as long as a review of the process examines if the selection was done by the book. ... 6. I think most lawyers are very smart and won't just blindly advocate/reject jurors just based on skin color alone. I think that the lawyers will gauge the potential jurors' attitudes and make decision based on their actions and what they say during the interview process. For example - the offense will take a caucasian white-guilt biased juror over a black juror that has taken turns as neighborhood watch leader - any day. So, if there is any skin color bias involved, that will come in with each juror, not with the lawyers. With your clearly demonstrated bias - the jury selection process would be very quick - hell, the charactor of the candidates wouldn't even matter. "just look at him - I know how he'll vote." why waste time asking questions? hell - once the selection process is done, the judge can just scan the jury, take a race count, and determine guilt or innocence right then ---at least in wlsc world clearly the content of character from each individual just doesn't matter ... 7. The defence will want an all white jury and will do their best to get one. that's a racist based over simplification and the offense will want a bunch of angry resentful racists that think like you write so what? that's why both sides get to be part of the selection process ... 10. And drivers that have price hikes for unfair reasons will go to another company and the first company will get a bad rep and go out of business it would be balanced out by that damn competition thing they all have a profit margin defined business plan - enough to do very well - but low enough to not lose all their customers seems to me, that the bad drivers will get big increases, the good drivers will get significant decreases - but the bottom line to the companies will likely be a bit of a wash after a settling/adjustment period I don't like it because eventually the GOVERNMENT will demand that data and use it to add taxes and track citizens. The private sector tends to self-stabilize, the government doesn't have that balance. ... 14. the pilot chute is not intended to slow you down, it's intended to pull the main out, stretch the lines and then expose the canopy yeah, Remster is right, this is best - have an instructor (better yet, a rigger) walk through the deployment sequence and gear familiarity in person. Have him explain the purpose of the line stretch, what the slider does during opening, etc etc etc. I'm not 'scared' for you and glad you are curious, but someone in person can answer directly while on this site, you get info piecemeal, and you don't even know if the person providing the info really knows it or is just throwing out their best (well intentioned) guesses too. ... 16. The Z1 has a single visor release button at the chin - unless that's changed in the last few months - the pivots are at the temple, but it's just simple 'posts and holes' (with spring and locking mechanism which is pretty simple and secure) - But I agree with you, in my comments above, that the change in design greatly bothers me in terms of ease of lens replacement - but it's very annoying and seems easily fixed if they would just flip the pivot post back to the external piece part. Damn near tore the skin off my thumbs trying to hold the lens and visor frame alignment during reassembly. absolutely - that has changed from metal to plastic - ackk seems all the support stuff is getting shoddier - look at weight belts lately - the packs are just plastic bags of shot now with staples - freakin' epidemic However, if SG recommend the G3, I'm sure to check it out next time I'm shopping. Though I absolutely hated the older Oxygen's, it was easier to just remove the visor and wear goggles than deal with them popping up. ... 17. thanks, I understand now. the tooth fairy (or tooth faerie) will collect each tooth one at a time from little boys and girls once he gathers a full load, he would then deliver them to the teeth ferry captain that would then transport them on the teeth ferry across the bay. I assume there's a factory on that side where each of the teeth are put into the spray paint cans. ... 18. 1 - he's on his back and clearly as soon as he did that, his fall rate increased. It doesn't have to, but in the shot, he accelerates away from his partner. Faster fall rates cause more stress during opening. That's why belly deployment is good as it gives a more likely chance that deployment happens at a speed that the canopy was designed to open at. 2 - containers aren't designed for deployment in any orientation than belly to earth. he opened on his back. that adds more stress at deployment 3 - beginner jumper clearly shouldn't have a camera - he might be distracted from feel what's going on back there - if it would have mattered 4 - beginner jumper doesn't know how to backfly - if he's spinning and the main comes out - that would also add stress on the opening sequence 5 - beginner jumper chose to go on his back even though told this is not a rig friendly to other orientations - that's bad judgement (not surprising with this jumper if he's using a camera, freeflying, all before A license - and, in fact, doing all that simultaneously). Honestly though, mods to rigs to make them more freefly friendly should be done on all rigs - especially rentals - newbies get unstable, AFF students tumble - hard to justify avoiding those mods. the camera may or may not have contributed - but it looks like it did encourage him to be on his back. being on his back likely did cause (directly) the premature deployment and aggravated the stress on that canopy I suspect also, that the canopy might have been weak too. But that doesn't excuse the newbie from his mistakes - video this early, freefly this early, practicing backflying on a rig not meant for that, etc etc etc. choices choices choices hope he learned a bit about learning curves and gear selection though ... 19. I have that one also. But I'd say that's more along the lines of "buy your own helmet cut away". I'd consider assembling a pad around the loop for easier mount and access - but it's simple and clean. "making" doesn't equal "assembling" However, that design is perfectly fine - one can go buy the right size pins and cotters, springs and....well, that's about it ...you need some kind of handle then just make sure to assemble it such that: 1 - the spring actively pushes the strap off of the pin 2 - everything is ordered to minimize another snag point (I prefer the assembly to be on the inside of the helmet, not outboard so we don't have something sticking out - spring pushes on the pin) ...
