  1. I'm sure if I had mommy or daddy able and willing to pay my way I would have taken advantage as well. But it's one thing to have that and quite another to brag/boast about it which is how you are coming across.
  2. If you have money enough to be buying gear and lots of jumps why don't you have money to buy an aad? Since you are already living at home for free and paying nothing for rent/food/utilities/whatever I think it's pretty damn ballsy to also try and get them to pay for an aad. But then again I've always been very independent and have always paid my own way.
  3. Ok, now I know why I got a PM abou this. Thanks for the advice but I was going there four years ago in December
  4. The creation of the EU is definitely a step towards that.
  5. I'm in for CSR too! Just got my invite. Now if I can only convince work to give me those days off I'm all set!
  6. Ah, yes I did think of them. But I was told to be careful getting coaching from 4way people as they may or may not be the best ones to provide specific big way skill coaching. But I did email them
  7. I'm going to be in Eloy Nov 19th to 24th for a camp and was thinking about getting in some tunnel time. I specifically want a big way focused coach, not just a belly coach but someone who will work with me on the specific big way skills. So are there any tunnel coaches in Eloy for this?

  9. There are a couple of blind experienced jumpers that I know of. One was 'Blind John' from the 90s on the west coast. Don't know if he still jumps but he would count down in freefall to know when to pull then would be guided down by radio.
  10. Yep I'm meeting Joanie and Patrick. They did the September camps. There is also one guy from my home dz, Larry, that's coming. (I use the word also too much)
  11. I have an audible but don't use it anymore. I can only hear it about half the time since my hearing aids muffle sounds above a certain decibel. An ear plug and hearing aid all in one.
  12. I've always worn mine skydiving but only if I wear a helmet. I don't trust that they will stay in without one. They are too expensive to play that game. I've never had any issues with them in. Sometimes my ears don't quite clear under canopy if my helmet is too tight pressing against the earmolds but unless I've also got a cold it's not a problem.
  13. I would prefer this by far since the 'representatives' don't seem to want to do any representing.
  14. People are asking. You are a representative. Therefore, you should be digging further to find out what really happened and let us know. Otherwise, why are you a representative?
  15. Me too. You don't want all the bug guts and junk getting on your rig not to mention the pc popping.
  16. So I'd like to try and find one other event to go to in December or within the first TWO weeks of January before tax season hits and I'm back to working 55-65 hours. So far I'm only aware of the Spaceland sequential January 10-11th. The smaller events like this aren't listed on bigways.com(oops-okay so that event is indeed listed). I can't afford Ecuador in December though. Anything else going on?
  17. Usually the instructors are teaching that to student/novices who are going to spend 30 or more seconds tracking. I think you are right that that kind of wisdom gets mis-transferred to all tracking, including the 5-7 second variety that follows group freefall jumps. Most definitely. I hear it said all the time among freeflyers and RW groups when discussing break off. It's a good general rule but sometimes can be misinterpreted at the safety of the group you are jumping with.
  18. I know what you are saying, just that so many instructors/people ingrain in students and upjumpers that you are NEVER to track up or down the line of flight. It made me do a double take to read that.
  19. that's fine for a solo or 2-way if they can even recognize LOF at break off time, absolutely a bad idea for anything bigger - I don't give that one any more credence that someone promising to open high or low, or the 45 degree rule (I don't trust it). I don't think anyone should count on someone else doing it, ever. exit separation should be the way to separate between groups. WIthin groups? get away from the people in your group and don't worry about LOF. other than that, those are good considerations So you are saying it's okay to track up or down the line of flight if there are people out before and after you...? Or you just don't trust it to create the separation for opening..?
  20. I think that situation is rather different than what happened here so I would not be so sure the tide is changing. That post is talking about something illegal, not unsafe, whereas this post is talking about something unsafe but not illegal.
  21. He gave a couple courses out in the northwest this summer too. I heard through the rumor mill that he lost his ratings because he let his own ratings expire.......
