A reserve PC takes up a lot of space in a suitcase

Congrats on your successful reserve ride. -
Hells, yeah! Now the fun can begin!!
ypelchat replied to kelel01's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Congrats on finishing AFF! My previous equipment had been made for a guy much taller than I am. And even with the leg straps tightened very tight, I was having this problem from time to time.. So my advice to you is: Make sure your leg straps are correctly tightened. If this doesn't help, try to use another container. If they're all the same, then you're out of luck. You may want to talk to your instructor about this too. He may help you to fix this problem. Yves. Yves. -
Thanks Craig for posting the Airtec communiqué, regarding this problem with the Cypres 2 units. Yves.

Congrats on the pack job! Jumping from a Cessna is fun. The Cessna is a great plane to help you develop good spotting skills.

I have a Kyocera 5135, and like it a lot. Very small. The battery capacity is not the best i've seen though. Yves.

I guess I just got my answer! We're going for 1 000 000 now!

I hope I never have a car with that much mileage ! btw, do you think the counter will roll over to zero after 500 000? Yves.
-
Of course ! Yves.
-
We're almost there. 10 minutes........ maybe? Yves.

Finally my new toy has arrived on thursday. The weather has been shitty here since thursday, but hopefully, it will clear, so I could go to the DZ and play with it. Yves.

Both Airtec and SSK have good reputations and imho both are run by ethical businesspeople. They might resell such a unit as used but I highly doubt they'd sell a unit that had been installed in a rig for a few months and come back for repair as "new." SSK does have units for rent while customers are waiting for 4/8 year service on their Cypres. I'd imagine if you asked you could get one to use while your Cypres2 is in for repair of the display unit - probably at no charge but don't quote me on that! Try to contact Karen Dean at SSK, or Kai Koerner at Airtec. I'm sure they will help you. Yves.

Ditto here I got my new baby on thursday, and i'm not sure I'll be able to jump it this week end. Yves.

Dump Guests figures in Who's online.
ypelchat replied to ypelchat's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
In the "Who's online view member directory", I think the guest access figures, should be dumped, or be kept to a single line, which would be displayed at the bottom of the page, and would include all accesses made by guests in a given time frame. Guest access figures serve no purpose IMHO. I also think the registry of registered users who accessed to the forums, should be extended to at least 20 or 30 minutes. Yves. -
Thanks Ryan and Derek for the clarifications.

The why on earth would Mirage or Javelin, or just about every other rig manufacturer would market such "fricitionless" release mechanism, if it's unreliable? The same reasoning can also be applied to regular rings and mini-rings and also regular risers, and mini-risers. If the system is so "overbuilt", I fail to see the point. People have jumped rigs equipped with stainless steel hardware, for a long time, and I have not heard of any failures on their rigs. Stainless steel never rust. It's a fact. Rust can be a problem, and can cause premature failure of webbing, due to increased "friction" Yves.

I'd like to have the same skydiving budget as yours! Yves.

It's never too cold to jump! In Canada, we do winter jumps, and have a lot of fun doing them. We dress accordingly though. Yves.

Comp Cobalt to be delivered today!!!!
ypelchat replied to kansasskydiver's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
By reading this entire thread, it is my understanding that the Cobalt was developped specifically to adress the needs of todays freeflyers. So logically, a freeflyer should the get the proper equipment to go with the Cobalt... If the required equipment do not exist, then we have a problem. Today's containers are developped and certified (TSO'd) with specific parameters. Dunno if a 256mph opening is within the TSO parameters though! But my guess is no. Who would likely to survive a 256mph opening? Am I right to think this way. Yves. -
I've ordered my new Vortex, with stainless steel hardware. In the long run, I think a rig with stainless steel hardware parts, will retain a better look. Yves.

Invade with what? Our hockey sticks? Nope ! Us Canadians could invade the U.S with our only chopper.... Ah ! I forgot......... our chopper's broken. Yves.
