  1. 1: It's blue sky whenever I board the "slow" Cessna, and when we reach jump altitude, we can't see a damn thing below! 2: I leave work early, to go to the DZ on a beautiful day, only to find there's not enough jumpers to send a plane up. 3: I'm in freefall, and my goggles pop off, and I loose my contact lenses. 4: I'll be doing my X00 th jump on the sunset load, and, on the load before, the plane waits on the runway, for a late jumper, with engines running..... When the plane lands after this load, it's already dark...... Sorry.......no sunset load...... See ya tomorrow! Grrr... Yves.
  2. Not bad! You'll remember this jump for a long time. Great video. Try to keep eye contact, at all times, with the person you jump with. Whenever the wind pushes you, and try to turn you around, just fight back to keep that eye contact. This jump being your first freefly jump...... Can we say: BEER btw: Tighten those lace, and try to keep your shoes on your feet! Have fun and stay safe. Yves.
  3. Hello Jim; Tell me who guest 442 is???? To know that guest 442 has visited DZ.com in the last 15 minutes, is useless IMHO. Guest figures fills half of a page. But If you want to PM or call a registered member, it would be useful to know he's been home in the last 20 minutes or so. He or she's likely is still in front of his (her) computer, and you're likely to get an answer to your message. So having the names of more registered member, displayed on that page, and for an extended period of time, would be more useful IMHO. Yves.
  4. Washing a container, is also an alteration then? Yves.
  5. Ouch! I guess your landing was not..........Smooth ! Yves.
  6. I'm just wondering how ScotchGuarding a rig, would violate the TSO? This is not a mod IMHO. Yves.
  7. Hello Ian; I suggest that you have your shoulders surgically repaired, before you enter any skydiving activities. At my DZ, people with a history of popping shoulders, are not allowed to skydive, unless they have their shoulders surgically repaired. Your arms are extremely important during a skydive, as you use them to control your body position during freefall, and, most of all, at pull time. You also use them to steer the canopy during the descent. If your arms pop out of their sockets, they become useless......... I've witnessed a few people with popped shoulders , land in the bush, because they were unable to steer the canopy at all.... I also know a few people whose will to skydive was strong enough, that they chose to have surgery to repair a shoulder or both. They now enjoy skydiving as much as I am. Don't put your life at risk. Better be safe than sorry...... Good luck. Yves.
  8. The first thing I bought, was my altimeter. Then I bought a helmet, a jumpsuit and a pair of goggles. A few weeks later, at jump 34, i bought my first rig, which drained my bank account quite a bit ! It was my second year as a skydiver, that I bought the bulk of my equipment. During that year, I only did 14 jumps. But on my third year, the sky was mine ! , and it has been ever since. Yves.
  9. Welcome to the sky! Have fun, and stay safe. Yves.
  10. I just sent you a PM about this. Yves.
  11. Condolences to family and friends. Blue skies forever brother. Yves.
  12. There is a U.S distributor: Parachute Systems U.S.A Office Louis Tomasso louist@att.net Yves.
  13. Chute Shop has changed name, and is now known as "Parachute Systems" They make the Vortex II. The new web site is: http://www.parachutesystems.co.za/ For those of you, who would like to see what a Vortex II look like, I have posted a few pictures of my Vortex II, in the "General Skydiving Discussions" forum. Look for the post: "Here's my new toy" Yves.
  14. I waited 15 weeks to get it! However, you seem to live very close to the factory . I guess you'll pick it up directly at the factory. If you do so, say Hello to Piers! Yves.
  15. Do you know of Parachute Canada? I'm not sure if this was the name of another company. My old rig had a pilot chute made by Parachute Canada. Yves.
  16. This could be a separate thread, but.... Anyway, could you tell what you think about slinks? I know they can cause malfunctions under certain circumstance. I have the slinks caps on my risers, so the slider dont come down over the toggles. I check the slinks tabs often too.
  17. What's the 3'rd company? I know only two: Flying High, and the company that built the Citation containers. Yves.
  18. I have these 2 part friction adapters on my Vortex II. They are made by "Parachutes de France". With these adapters, tightening the leg straps is not quite easy, especially on the Vortex II, which has a dual layer (thick) of webbing on the leg straps. Once they're tightened though, they stay there and don't slip. Yves.
  19. Congratulations! The sky is yours now!
  20. Maybe you didn't notice, but DZ.com just reached 690 095 posts. We're on our way to 700 000.
