  1. If only Bill could design and market some kind of a device, to help us Sabre2 owners pack our "slippery as hell" canopies, and put it in the bag, such a device would definitely be a tremendous seller! Btw. I still have an Excalibur 150, somewhere in my closet, and occasionally, I bring it to the DZ on windy days, just to play with it. A lot of fun. The lines are in need of being replaced, but PD no longer make them. Yves.
  2. I dunno. Even on the PD website, no pricing information is available yet. I guess we just have to wait. Yves.
  3. You friend must have been "laser guided" , so that he landed specifically there! Yves.
  4. Five dollars. Yeah ! A brand new Sabre2 190, stuffed in a bag made for a 170. Yves.
  5. 81 for me! Not bad. 40 more skydiving years to go. Yves.
  6. I have seen this photograph being broadcasted on the media here. I don't think it's been PSd. Yves.

    Goodbye Tommy

Farewell brother, and blue skies forever. Yves.
  8. I was just wondering if this new canopy was developped as a response to the Crossfire2? Yves.
  9. The poor bird got no chance...... Self defence, should we say! Yves.
  10. Pages and pages of gobbldeygook the patent document was. Most of it seemed to be baseline maps as to what it would use by default until you entered freefall. Think of your basic Protrack - it can calculate all your speeds and it's still based on barometric pressure - methinks the vigil is a very very sophisticated Protrack that can estimate - through sheer computing power - when you're due to arrive at SAVE ME time ... and then save you. The regenerative sampling principle is much like modern fuel injection on cars - it samples pressure/temperature/speed many many times a second and adjusts your fuel delivery so that it 'always' runs perfectly. Think of the stae of the computer industry when the Cypres was designed - never mind introduced. I'm not in the market for an AAD right now ($'s), but by the time I am, the Vigil will have been out for a while and will be more than astested as the Cypres was when IT gained acceptance. It seems smart enough to have earned a patent -Dave Time will tell. As every new device that hit the market these days, the Vigil will likely have to go through a few glitches at the beginning. Let's hope we don't see too many two canopies out during the Vigil break in period! As a skydiver, i'm very happy to see that a newcomer enters the AAD market. Prices are likely to go down a bit, because of the Vigil....... Hopefully. Yves.
  11. I heard a new SUUNTO watch is in the making, if not already on the market. The new watch will also have a built-in GPS. Yves.
  12. I have the SUUNTO Vector, and the logbook function of these watches, has a very different purpose, and was not really meant to record jump parameters. The accuracy of the built-in altimeter, however, is surprisingly good, and matches that of my current belly mount altimeter. The refresh rate of the display could be accelerated a bit, as it is a bit sluggish in freefall. I like my SUUNTO. Yves.
  13. Thanks! I'll take a closer look at this when i get my Vortex II, but I'm pretty sure that if this issue has been brought to their attention, they already took care of the problem. Yves.
  14. That was selfish New Jumps suits for you huh? That had NOTHING to do with my gift selection! Anyway, it's a hell of a lot better than the shop vac I got her for Christmas. Blues, Dave Yves.
  15. Thanks! Do yo know if they have a website? Yves.
  16. It's curious! Sebastian is said to be the mecca of freefly in Florida, being home of the Freefly Training center, and yet, they don't have Freefly friendly rental gear? My guess is they think all people involved in freeflying already have their own gear!!
  17. Angela; I think you should buy your first gear used, and then spend the money you saved on jump tickets. Your piloting skills will improve with the number of jumps you make, and soon, you'll get bored with your current equipment. It takes many hundred jumps to push your equipment to the edge of it's capabilities, so don't hurry to go smaller. For your first gear, you should get a canopy on the bigger side. Bigger is more forgiving of the mistakes you'll make in the learning process. Yves.
