  2. These are not DZ's, this is a company (1-800-Skyride) that sells skydiving, glider rides ect... They have contracts with actual DZ's to provide services, you buy your tickets thru them and then show up at a participating DZ to make the jump. The DZ's are often very far from the buyers actual location and they may actually be required to bypass a much closer DZ in order to use their ticket (s). This business will sometimes advertise as Skydive "insert state/city" and the DZ is another state many many miles/hours away. Joe Schmoe Whuffo gets the urge to experience skydiving goes to his computer and types in Skydive "insert state/city" hoping to find a DZ in his/her area and gets one of their sites for whichever state and (according to hearsay) is not always given the real picture of who, what, where, when and how.... Do a search and you'll find that these folks business practices have been discussed before. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  3. Chile is hoping to be kick'en it there in- -BIG BLUE KENWORTH 18 WHEELER style..... And no squirt guns. (Chile grins , ands thinks about water balloons.) ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  4. To the best of my knowledge there are no DZ's operating in WV, though I've heard rumors of DZ's over there or in such-n-such town.... I'm in hot pursuit of all fifty states and in order to get WV I went to Tri-State Skydivers in Southpoint, OH and jumped into a city park in Huntington, WV, which was a adventure in itself. 6. Too cool, I've been bitten by the vintage gear bug, I did my first all vintage gear jump back in april, surplus B-12, 28' Jumbo PC, belly wart/26' navy conical. Wow! What a rush
  7. I bought a Reflex for the following reasons, Made sense $$$ wise.(I got it at 40% off, custom-made ) Liked the looks. Extras offered. Delivery time. Reputation. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  8. I set for agreed breakoff which is no lower than 4000' or higher in my book. My audible settings are, (1) 4000'/+ (2) 2500'(harddeck) (3) 1500' (harddeck). ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

  10. Now I know this doesn't cover all religions and beliefs but tough cookies thats what the "Other" option is for. I'm curious as to Who/What my fellow jumpers believe in when it comes to religion and how they practice/worship. To let you know a little about my personal beliefs..... Born and raised Roman Catholic, Catholic school K-4th (taught by Nuns and yes it was totally stereotypical.) Family after divorce went less- active and investigated other denominations on occasion. During teenage years I went from one end of the spectrum to the other of christian beliefs and then pretty much settled on that I believed in God but wanted nothing to do with organized religion in any form. Converted by girlfriend (now Wife) to LDS (Mormon). the LDS "Twelve articles of Faith" were instrumental in changing/opening my self back to spiritualality. I'm currently a work in progress, I try to follow the commandments and Christ's teachings but I'm only human and weak, my biggest downfall is my tendency to use foul/vulgar language ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  11. Why? Well think about it....... You've gone and busted your tib/fib.............. Again! Now you not only have broken/shattered bone cutting into muscle and tendon ect... But you have metal plates,screws/pins, rods and ect ripping themselves free of the bone they've been implanted in and tearing into the surrounding muscles and tendons ect... The hardware is now like knives and files as they along with the bones shred your flesh. What if the bones miss the artery but that screw just shreds it into something mushy? What if that plate severs several tendons that otherwise would have been unharmed?... Now you have trouble walking for the rest of your life, perhaps no more BASE or skydiving, hell you might not even be able to do more than limp along. We take chances... I still jump, I could break it tomorrow, I could be crippled.... I've compounded my odds of serious injury in that limb... Thats why....... ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  12. Yeah, those stories are out there.... The short of it is you "DO NOT" want to involve that hardware in another injury!!! Consulted my Orthopedic surgeon about this and skydiving in general ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

  15. I'm from the good'ol US-of-A, and we don't require insurance. I have excellent insurance thru my company benefits in the form of BCBS (Blue Cross Blue Shield) and short-term disability insurance. The short-term disability really saved my arse, it paid me over $500 a month. Yes and no,on the rehab. just do it like your life depends on it and you will get the best results, if you slack you may regret it. I was out of action, off the leg completely for aprox 2.5 months then intense rehab for 2 months, I also had some problems with tissue damage that was very slow to grow back and some nerve damage which is permanent. the nerve damage manifest itself in the form of increased sensitivity to pressure (barefoot on gravel for example is painful), occasional stabbing pains, cramping.... But its livable.... like I have a choice. I went back to work and made my return to jumping at the same time, 4.5 months after injury. I still have all the plates-n-screws in my leg, and darn tootin right I still jump! My wife is my love but skydiving is my passion! The doc said atleast a year before he'd take them out and only if they caused problems/discomfort/pain. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  16. I'm very happy to hear that your sister and her family are OK. I'm sure am happy to see the Elders Quorum and others mobilize so quickly and get help to them.... Yes, I'm a LDS member too, Theodore Ward, Mobile AL. Amazing how much love and support is in this church! Best wishes and prayers for your families quick rebound from this trouble. I'm a longhaul trucker. If I get thru Topeka on a sunday I'll come to your ward for meetings, and we can meet, just send me your wards address and times, heck, if I get the whole weekend we can go jump saturday and do church on sunday ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  17. Here's some from my experience, http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=216762;search_string=bad%20swoop;#216762 Thats my right Tib/Fib, two plates, fourteen screws, 4 months recovery/ back to work and another 4 months before it was even near normal, permanent nerve damage in foot, $23,000+ total cost, my out of pocket was only aprox $2,000 due to my excellent insurance. Treat your physical therapy like a fanatical religion!!!!!!!! ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

  19. I had to vote "NO", but as already said "The rigger can charge whatever they wish and you as the consumer can take your business elsewhere if you choose.", also as stated there are many reasons as to whether or not to use a particular rigger. I had one rigger tell me straight out "I'm not familiar with your Reflex, if you have the manual I can do it for you, but no promises on a cosmeticly pretty packjob." He studied the manual, packed the reserve and it looked fine....... He'd get my rig anytime..... ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  20. Your already on the right track with the rigger inspection, be sure to call attention to the specks and geta straightforward factual answer, no guesses. If the canopy was demo'd or jumped previously then sold as new I'd either re-negotiate price or send it back. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

  22. Pull all my handles, elbow the crap out of my container, pulling on toggles-n-risers, cutting lines... whatever... all the way in.... never give up!!!!!!!!! ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  23. I have questions for you, "Do you currently post here under another name? Did you register a separate DZ.com account in order to post anonymously?" Just to let you know, most folks consider it improper netiquette to have nothing in your profile and more than one registered account here is very against HH's rules and will get you permanently banned from DZ.com. Now as to your Post. I've never had the pleasure of jumping at Mile-Hi so I can't comment or take your poll. I've been to 70 DZ's in my travels and there's only one I'll never go back to. I'm very extroverted and have no hesitation about busting into cliques, I've walked into many a DZ packing area and introduced myself at the top of my lungs, letting everyone know what I do, want to do, and that I need people to play with. I know not everyone is so forward as to act in this fashion, but being a wallflower never got a dance. Everywhere you go there are assholes, skygods and jerks... But thankfully there are no DZ's that are nothing but such folks. Do your part, organize all your like minded friends and jumpers into the "Welcome Committee" let no stranger go un-greeted and invited into the general group, let no newbie just off solo status go un-fellowshipped in our skydiving family, if somebody is acting the asshole skygod tell them you as a group y'all don't like it and why (i.e. It hurts the DZ's image.) then use your accumulated peer-pressure to re-enforce your views. I could go on but your a biggirl and know what needs to be done, as previously stated be "Pro-Active". this is not really pro-active. 24. Congratulations.... BEER! Thanks for your contributions to the sport. Now go update your profile MR.26 years in sport. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  25. Yes, stop fighting it and go with the flow................... Relax and just let it happen, your gear'll come home, the weather will lift, and there'll be a instructor to help you get current again. If your Karma is good and you don't need to atone for some really bad misdeeds (gear theft, murder, selling drugs to/molesting school children, ect...) then you shouldn't worry. Look FliegendeWolf, if skydiving is truly in your heart, a passion, then do what you have to do to live the dream. Take the weekend off, travel to another DZ; with good weather and plenty of instructors, rent gear if you have to, GET CURRENT AND STAY CURRENT! To a hardcore, diehard skydiver this is too is considered going with the flow just remember sometimes you have to "Make it Happen", going with the flow can put you on the rocks, pick up the paddle and row like hell!!!!!!
