Don't look after it. I used to do it, but it's a bad habit. After I stopped, and rather looked straight forward my opening improved. I heard an idea for a spamtrap. With some effort this should be possible: Let the smpt server (a dedicated trap server) seem like an open proxy. It forwards the first 5 spams beeing sent. The spammer then think he got an open proxy when he checks. Then the server can redirect the rest of the spam to /dev/null

The cutaway pillow and the reserve handle is velcroed in a little pocket on the harness. It's hard to pull unless you get the bottom edge out of that little pocket first. A bit hard to explain, but you probably understand what I mean if you take a look at a rigg. Do whatever your instructors tell you. Before your first jump you should hopefully have done enough emergency drills so that the whole procedure sits in muscle memory. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Go straight to AFF. Nothing rocks more than jumping out at 12500' yourself with just two instructors holding on to you. I loved the sensory overload from my first jump. You should peel even with both hands on one handle. The handles sits in a little pocket, so if you're not peeling/twisting first and pulling down the handle can be stuck at the bottom preventing you from pulling it. I allways try to look when packing, but that really isn't good enough. Today Scott Miller (from PD) held a packing and canopy inspection lecture at our DZ (Østre Æra). That guy really knows his stuff.

For you computergeeks: Thank god you can't see the php source. It's not pretty. I look at how I've designed the php parts, and what goes through my head is "What was I thinking!!!" If you think of a star exit the floaters stretch their legs and the divers bend their knees. If you are a floater and you feel that the divers is tipping over, stretching your legs helps putting the formation straight again. Vice versa, if you are a diver and feel you are tipping over, bend your knees to fall into level with the floaters. Remember that the level is to the relative wind. I've also been thought that everyone should go straight to mantis, but I've found that most of the times adjustments are necessary. But it's not hard to think that if the exit is perfect in both angle and timing, everybody should be on level on the relative wind and starting to turn point already. PS. All this talk of making pants reminded me of a friend of mine. He wanted some solid baggy pants for inline skating so he got hold of a US-mail bag. Laid on it down on the floor, and his wife marked where to cut out. She then sewed where she had marked and cut away the excess and the pants were done. They already got holes for a waiststring. Don't know if this will work well for freeflying pants, but the material is probably cheap. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

We're having a bit of troubble exiting a satelite from a tailgate (an-28). People tells us that the satelite should be an easy and stable formation to exit, but we manage to tumble each time. It's probably just a question of practice, but if someone has some advice to help us along we would be glad to hear. Videoclips of somebody who does it right would also be great. We had video on one jump and that helped a lot. We have dirted the exit timing a lot and that seemed to help further. We do the exit with the two that holds the sidbody to the right and the two holding a hook to the left. Trying to exit almost like a star and let it fold out. Congrats on your new suit! Arch hard and relax. I don't see any reason to be afraid of booties. They give more power to the legs and make it possible for faster turns. As long as you know how to stop a turn, it's no problem. Once you get used to them you'll never want to fly without. It's a good idea to take the booties off once you're under canopy. That way they dont wear as fast, and lasts longer. My sequense after opening is: Check for traffic, relase toggles and check chute, hold toggles in one hand and take off booties with the others, collaps slider.
