  1. Nope, I was railing on Dem party BAU. During the campaign, he lied about what McCain said. If he wanted to get honestly elected, then he should have told the truth about McCain's plan. He should have told the truth about his actual plans. Then, the voters could honestly evaluate and choose. his words "I'm asking you to believe..." - BO
  2. The debrief... everything went enjoyably well. Great DJ. Something for everyone. 5 gallons of punch and some jello shots. Good food, plus some of Alysse's birthday cake (thanks Marc). An astounding array of pjs. If anyone has pics, let me know. I'd like to see.
  3. Yes, McCain DID clearly state his position. People of both parties have discussed it for years. McCain wanted to get rid of the exemption and provide a tax credit to offset it. He stated his plan. I mentioned all that in the first post of the thread. (Since taxes never go down, I believe that the credit would gradually fade away.) The interesting parts are: - Obama misrepresented McCains figures by calculating the impact without the tax credit (as mentioned by FactCheck.org). "Intentional misrepresentation" - worth repeating. He did this for political mileage. - Then, he was very opinionated about how big a tax increase that this would be for Every American, not just the Rich Americans like under Obamas tax proposal. He was very adamant about this. So, he seemed pretty upset about the Big Tax Increase under the McCain proposal (and it wasn't). And here we are... - He adopts McCains proposal that he attacked. - He worsens it by stripping it of its protective legislation. - He applies a huge tax to the Average American after claiming to never do that. - He won't promote it, but will support it. Nice list. From November to now. - Campaign lies. - Flip-flopping. - Reversing campaign promises. - Increasing taxes to the average American. If he just used McCain's plan, we'd be better off.
  4. NPR (part of the right-wing conspiracy) February 26, 2009 ...as of 3 weeks ago. Any money bet on whether the tax cuts for the wealthy will get extended ? blam... blam blam... "I'm going to reload now. Please remain still or some rounds may miss your back."
  5. clicky I don't make this stuff up... I was perusing the Interwebs for amusement. My main amusement being porn. I find an article entitled "Russia's World's Best Job contestant involved in porn scandal" Worlds Best Job? What could that possibly be? I click on the link and find??? The top left corner... "Shuttle Discovery blasts off with crew of 7 astronauts. Stunning photos!" Sure. So... look at the "stunning photos" directly below the shuttle and the title. YES! The perfect job. What a crew! Excellent!
  6. Health care benefits have been historically immune to taxes since roughly the 1940s. The exemption has never been tinkered with. new health benefits tax An entirely new tax on working middle-class Americans. So...the McCain version included a tax credit. Not so, the Obama plan. The O plan is a tax. Sweet! He won't propose it, but he won't stop it. Who will be the Sacrificial Lamb? Who will fall on the party sword? Hmm... Mr W... step forward and pick a Special Pork prize from the second shelf of the Obama "Stimulus Barrel". Where are the estimates of the amount of the tax hike? We could use the Obama campaign estimates... True? FactCheck The McCain plan included a tax credit, so this estimate is known to be not actually accurate at all... unless you remove the tax credit - then you get the Obama plan. $3.6 Trillion in new taxes? Oh my.
  7. Quotas were/are used for AA. clicky
  8. The Park Service can't tell the difference between skydiving rigs and base rigs. If they see one in your car, you may not be able to convince them of the difference.
  9. methinks you want to re-read your history - you seem a bit lost
  10. Everyone agrees on the concept of ending discrimination. However, the implementation of AA does not actually help, if it discriminates against another group using the same criteria that was deemed offensive. AA merely repeats the crime with a different target.
  11. Sure, everyone is against crime. The innocent are just unhappy about having a penalty levied against them. The children of non-slave owners are discriminated against because their ancestors did the right thing. No cotton growing in Illinois.
  12. What about the sons of the north, who didn't own slaves? (Of course, the exception being the riots in NY. Those lynchings were bad, but are generally ignored because northerners are not racist. ) Or people who just emigrated to the US since the 1990s? "I can't get a job why?"
  13. It may, or may not, work in your favor... Right now, more women graduate from college than men. Therefore, under AA, you should be able to get a scholarship grant based on your unfair treatment. Of course, since you were the slave-master in days past, the only fair and legal solution is to sell you for a reasonable rate, after you graduate.
  14. In every game I know of, if even one player cheats and is caught, your entire team is then penalized to compensate the other side and redress the wrong you committed. Affirmative action is that concept applied to society as a whole. An extremely poor analogy. Following its logic... If someone in your neighborhood commits a robbery, should everyone in the neighborhood go to jail ? Or pay a fine? What if you didn't live in the neighborhood at the time? The robbery was 150 years ago, but you just moved in. Do you still feel it is fair that you should pay a fine ?
  15. But the scuba divers can go back up and get more.
  16. Talked to Boxman tonight. He is going to be out there on Saturday to organize.
  17. A good bit of it. I am going to talk to the organizers tomorrow night and get a plan going. We will mostly be doing RW jumps, for all experience levels. However, Zhills has a huge number of headdown/sit organizers. Ask for any of the MBs and we can direct you to someone.
  18. I worked with a guy in the late 80s. He had a very good job, making great money, and married to a bank manager. He was an ex-army guy and loved the action. He got caught on his 9th by a lady with a cell phone.
  19. The Scottish accent seems appropriate because his name was actually Lingus Sanders.
  20. Roy Jr. arrived this evening, and will be organizing this weekend.
  21. Those were all her kids. Really. She didn't like to talk about it.
  22. My parents. They used to beat the crap out of me when I got caught doing something. So, early on, I learned how to not get caught.
  23. Everyone seems to be worried about discussing this issue directly. The easiest way is to have them bring it up. Bring some talent home about 3am and just wear it out. Then, the next day, the neighbors will probably mention, "You need to be a little quieter at 3" Just turn and say, "Yeah, I know the walls are thin. I listen to your Little Screamer going off all the time too."
  24. If you use the two self-adhesive strips to hold your butt cheeks together, you solve the problem too. That is only a problem if the odor is offensive. A better solution is to buy a box of those little suppositories that handle the odor before it escapes. They are inexpensive. I am not sure of the number that come in a box of Tic-Tacs. "Ahhhh... minty. I just love when he passes gas..."
