  1. I agree that there must be more to this story, I strongly suspect that someone concerned for either his and the safety of other contacted the relevant authorities following behaviour issues, I can't believe that the FB page alone would have been enough. No matter how deluded. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  2. Its one of the few things in life that really keeps you in the moment. Most of the time we live in the past or future thinking of what we need to do or checking what we have done, planning for tomorrow. When you jump you are living in that very second, thats powerful. Nothing in life gives as much as living in the moment. Its total commitment, a Formula 1 driver is going at a hell of a speed but if theres a problem he can pull over or go into the pits and have it fixed by a team of experts, when you go out of that door thee is no pulling over, you are totally committed and only have yourself to get out of any problem. You become one with your thoughts and bodily actions to the point where you think I want to be over there and your body responds and hey presto there you are, you've flown yourself into a slot and didn't even think about how you did it. The people are fun and the partying is hard. I've made friends for life through skydiving and its taken me all over the world. But if you really want to know, you'll just have to jump. 3. True, but I find it hard to believe that he could be sectioned based purely on his online account. How do we know that someone didn't have concerns and contacted mental health workers or the FBI (if he was making crazy comments and threatening to 'sever heads with his axe'. 4. Glad to hear that you're not advocating non consensual sex, or rape as its legally known. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  5. its interesting (and a little worrying) that the majority of male respondents to the poll believe that it is not rape, yet the majority of women respondents say that it is rape. (yes the sample is not big but interesting nonetheless.) When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  7. I think it was a good call. I almost posted on this earlier today, then I read his facebook wall. You can read it here... https://www.facebook.com/brandon.raub?sk=wall This guy really needs help. Good on the authorities for acting before this guy went on a rampage. I hope he gets the help he so clearly needs. P.S Keep clicking on 'Older Posts' he gets more and more detached from reality. 8. I've never heard of this guy, no idea of which party he belongs to and really couldn't care less. However it speaks volumes that someone so stupid can become a politician. Even more so that there are idiots who would vote for this cretin. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 9. Obviously if prior agreement has been given as long as the woman was capable of giving consent then that would be consensual intercourse. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  10. Correct. Having sex with a partner who is sleeping is legally classified as rape. If the person is incapable of giving their consent and penetration occurs (needs not be a penis either) then under the law that is rape. So A) if a woman is drunk they are legally incapable of giving consent. B) if a woman is cognitively impaired through use of drugs they are legally incapable of giving consent. C) If a woman is asleep she is legally incapable of giving consent. Consent to prior intercourse does not automatically offer consent for subsequent intercourse. I'm interested if this is also he case in the US, Andy? Lawrocket? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 11. That gave me an amusing chuckle of nostalgic terror. In 1987 I was mugged by three thugs in Guatemala City. One maintained the getaway truck next to me in the street. One gave me the fastest most thorough frisking imaginable. The main bad guy held me at bay with a model 1911 aimed straight at my face from about four feet. I can assure you from personal testimony, the barrel of a .45 looks like a 155mm howitzer from that range. LOL...I thought Windsor was talking abut his willy! 12. I publish on a blog too, it doesn't make me a journalist though. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  13. Why not? You don't approve because it posted sensitive (but mostly boring) US information. To an extent, I agree with you that in the latter stages wikileaks stopped exercising much editorial direction and just barfed volumes of material. But it's still publishing. The Examiner chain of newspapers and websites will print just about anything. Slate doesn't have a printed edition, but it's much better example of journalism than most newspapers and magazines today. Its a interesting question, what constitutes as journalism in the age of the internet? Some journos have been very snooty in denouncing Assange as not a journalist as he has no training in journalism. This argument is not valid in my view as neither has the award winning Ross Kemp. I don't believe that Assange is a journalist for the following reasons. A) He fails to protect his sources. B) He is not selective in anyway in what he publishes. C) He doesn't present the information in a way in which the average person can understand and digest. D) He publishes with total disregard for the consequences. E) He is irresponsible and has published information that will get people killed. (eg: British Army Translators names and personal details in Iraq). F) He gives no balanced argument on what he publishes, in fact often he gives no opinion at all. Jullian Assange may be trying to become a journalist and without doubt Wikileaks has scooped some stories which had they been obtained by a newspaper journalist it would have been award winning stuff but for the reasons above it is my personal opinion that Julian Assange is a irresponsible attention seeking blogger. 15. Following remarks by a UK politician on rape and the Julian Assange case I'm curious as to what people think on this one, http://tinyurl.com/9kskbhw When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  16. Again, it isn't rape by any standard that we would use in the US. One allegation is sex without a condom. There's your misconduct. At least one of the two ladies continued to associate with him after the alledged event. Another may have CIA ties. He did make offers to talk with said investigators, short of going to Sweden. The thing is, the USA hasn't even asked for him. He'd be safer in Sweden because if the USA wanted him and requested his extradition from Sweden under European law both Sweden and the UK would both have to say yes. As it is the UK isn't shy of bunging people on planes to the USA if requested to do so. Personally I'd be happy if he were sent to Ecuador, lets see how he likes the freedom of the press in a tin pot banana republic kissing El Presidentes jack boots. Alternatively throw his sorry arse on a plane to Sweden. Or the USA if they want him, or deport the bugger back to OZ, just kick his sorry arse off the UK. 17. Just to prove that the Yanks don't have a monopoly on arsehole politicians shouting their mouth off making offensive comments on rape, heres the UK's entrant. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-19323783 When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 19. I hope so. The US and the UK need to let Assange fade away into obscurity like the fart in the wind that he is. Something a lot of folks on this board, not necessarily you kelp, have had difficulty with is remembering that Bradley Manning and Julian Assange are not the same person, nor are their situations all that similar. Assange held a Q&A session about what he did and simply stroked his own ego and insulted anyone who opposed, he claimed to have redacted stuff he thought was dangerous but did a poor job at it, and later incompetently released the un-redacted versions and tried to throw someone else under the bus over it. But given all that I've still always said he shouldn't have weird unrelated allegations trumped up to get back at him for it. I just find it disgusting that people actually laud him for taking advantage of Manning and others when it's pretty clear his only goal is promoting himself. If Bradley Manning is has charges to face then why hasn't he recieved a trial? Its been over 800 days now, how can that be justifiable? 20. Or the British decide to bring them home when they can no longer protect them. Threatening to storm the embassy seems to be backfiring. The guy is wanted on a rape charge in Sweden! His running and hiding isn't helping him any. Also, the fact he jumped bail just makes him look more guilty. All those awards and gold buttons he got don't mean squat, now. Chuck Actually he hasn't been charged with anything Chuck, and the Swedish want to question him not over rape (as widely misreported) but over sexual misconduct, a crime that doesn't even exist in the UK. Don't get me wrong, I think the guys is a lresponsible, attention seeking loose cannon who has endangered lives. But many of the facts widely reported by the mass media are not correct. Its also worth remembering that the intelligence services have used criminal sexual defamation before when they've been pursuing someone for publishing something that fell foul of offcial secrets (See Richard Tomlison MI6 agent, he was defamed by being labelled a paedophile to keep him running. He was not, nor did he have any criminal background outside of attempting to publish a book. 23. From the FBI: "They could be dismissed as a nuisance, a loose network of individuals living in the United States who call themselves “sovereign citizens” and believe that federal, state, and local governments operate illegally. Some of their actions, although quirky, are not crimes. The offenses they do commit seem minor: They do not pay their taxes and regularly create false license plates, driver’s licenses, and even currency..."OMG! There are people who don't want to pay their taxes! We're all going to die! Run for your lives! Seems the FBI changed their mind and agree with my opinion that the so called sovereign citizens are indeed the biggest Terror threat to the USA. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knHH-uVdXSU http://news.yahoo.com/suspects-deputy-killings-linked-extremists-005244499.html http://www.newjerseynewsroom.com/nation/fbi-most-wanted-sovereign-citizens-are-a-growing-threat Clearly they are deluded as well as dangerous. http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-files/ideology/sovereign-citizens-movement When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy.
