  1. Because he is an inadequate little man with narcissistic Walter Mitty delusions of grandeur of an epic scale. He has reached a level of public notoriety that he never thought possible and now the worlds media spotlight is turned upon him he doesn't wish for it to be removed. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  2. No. They fear the extradition to Sweden cause that will land him in prison in Sweden. I don't think an extradition to the US is ever in the cards ( the other line of thinking is that this process was started to buy the US time to see if they can come up with charges for Assange. This process would have forced him to stay in a country with an extradition treaty to the US.) So why not a sting in the UK, it would be just as easy as in Sweden. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  3. 'Quite the sticky wicket.' Hear hear old chap. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  4. They will not extradite Assange to the US if he faces the death penalty. Sweden does have an extradition treaty with the US, so there won't be much of a problem to extradite him as long as he isn't going to be executed. True, but they would also need the permission of the UK to do so, in which case whats the point of the added step? Also he would still have to first face the charges which would have arraigned against him on return to Sweden. That being the case the USA would not get hold of him until A) The case was over and he was found innocent, in which case he could simply leave the country prior to the extradition request being processed. or B) After he came out of prison having been found guilty of rape and sexual misconduct. So either way it would be a lot easier to just have him directly extradited from the UK. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  5. Who said anything about extradition to the US or the death penalty? Assange is not a US citizen. His sites weren't hosted in the US. The US doesn't have anything that will stick in court to get him extradited for. This was he would still end up in prison. Only if convicted, do you think the US Government can also nobble the Jury in Sweden? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  6. They don't have any charges. They can't lift him or have him have an accident. Too public a figure, too well known he would be hated by the US. Who is going to stake their career on that one? The trumped up charges in Sweden are the way to get back at him. For all the arguments I've already put forward that makes no sense whatsoever. I started off this thread thinking the same as you on this but as I have learnt more about the case I have totally changed my mind based on the facts. 7. And I'm not insisting that its not a sting, however for all the previous reasons I do think it very unlikely. Such as what? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  8. You would be correct in that assumption. They had been involved in a dispute for a year since the firing, filed police reports against each other, it appears that the dead employer was making it difficult for the employee to find work in his field. Concealed carry permit courses don't require anywhere near as much training as these Police had, makes one question the validity of the concealed carry argument. If this is what Police officers can achieve with their training then surely a armed civilian is likely to me more of a hazard to the public than a help. Employer may have had the mind set of "you'll never work in this town again" employee shot him in the head. The surviving victims include: 35-year-old man from Jamaica, Queens 33-year-old woman from 38th Street, she lives near the shooting 56-year-old woman from the Upper West Side 21-year-old man from the Bronx 35-year-old woman from Chapel Hill, NC 43-year-old woman from Brooklyn 30-year-old woman from the Bronx 35-year-old man from the Bronx 23-year-old man from the Bronx Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne says it's "very likely" all of the 9 bystanders were hit by police gunfire Two officers fired from eight feet away. One officer fired seven times, the other fired nine times. A total of 16 rounds were fired, likely simultaneously.. If this was the result of the work of trained NYPD officers I think we can quite confidently close the argument on what would have happened in the cinema when the 'joker' killer burst in. If there had been people with firearms in there its pretty clear that it would have been an even bigger bloodbath than it already was. 9. I think as some posts in this thread demonstrate, any allegations against him founded or unfounded will be ignored and derided by those who believe that its a big brother smear campaign. Therefore if the USA want him there is no need to trash his reputation especially as what he has done with Wikileaks is enough to polarise public opinion on him. If there are charges to be placed against him in the USA a simple extradition request to the UK would have seen him in a supermax by now. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  10. If they want him why didn't they just ask us for him? If they had he'd be in the USA before this whole rape allegation came about. If they wanted to they could have even have just lifted him or made him have an accident. The truth of the matter is that Assange is inconsequential as is wikileaks. They got Bradley Manning and are making an example of him, they don't need the pin board they got the poster. 12. Here is some: 2001 Anthrax attacks 2001 JDL plot to blow up King Fahd Mosque in Culver City California and office of Darrell Issa.(Foiled by FBI) 2002 United States, Luke Helder pipebombs in mailboxes in the Midwest. Motivation to protest government control over daily lives and the illegality of marijuana. 2002 Beltway sniper attacks. 2005 University of Oklahoma bombing 2007 Liberty University VA pipe bomb plot. 2008 San Diego Fed Ex pipe bomb attack. 2008 Knoxville Unitarian Universalist Church attack. 2008 Suicide bombing in Dalton 2009 Starbucks bombing NYC 2010 Austin Texas Joseph Stack flys plane into IRS building. 2010 Bomb attack on Jacksonville Mosque. 2011 Maryland letter bomb attacks. 2011 Hanover, Annapolis letter bomb attacks on DoT. 2011 Spokane Wasington bomb (defused) 2011 Lakeland pipe bomb 2011 Terre Haute Pipe bomb (defused) Admittedly many of these were not spectaculars but if you were the person targeted I suggest they would be not be taken lightly. What is worrying is how many have there been that were not treated as terrorism, such as the story that kicked off this thread. I know the 'sovereign citizen' movement has killed at least six police officers in the last couple of years yet despite being listed as a top terrorist threat by the FBI they fail to appear again and again as terrorist attacks. (Tim McVeigh was a sovereign citizen). The Aryan Brotherhood have committed many racial killings in pursuit of their political cause, yet these are not registered as terror attacks for some reason either it seems. 14. Well it would make sense wouldn't it? After all isn't that what the USA always does when it loses a war, declare victory and withdraw. Why should the war on drugs be any different. Seriously though, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) should be legalised as there are massive commercial uses for it, plastics, oil, clothing, 'concrete'. The reason it was suppressed by law had everything to do with the cotton industry in the USA and bugger all to do with smoking dope. I've fields of cannabis behind my house in the UK and hope to see much more as there used to be 30% of our agriculture set aside for hemp growth. Should high THC Cannabis be legalised? I don't think so but if it is it should not be sold to people under 25 for the reasons given earlier in this thread. 15. Sure look at the threat from Islamist terrorists but where is the rest of the domestic terrorists? The majority of attacks on US soil since 9/11 have been domestic terror attacks not associated with Islamist groups, so where are they on the map? 16. No, we aren't, since it looks a bit like the accusations of rape are used to serve as a means to get to the ultimate goal of putting Assange in an American prison. Bullshit, if the USA wanted the idiot then why didn't they just ask the UK for him, we happily give over our own citizens to the USA if asked even on charges which aren't even crimes in the UK. There have been a couple of high profile examples of this in the last couple of years. The Swedish are less likely to extradite him than we are, the USA haven't asked for him and if he was in Sweden then because of the EU extradition process not only would Sweden have to say yes to extraditing him to the USA but also the UK. He would be safer from the USA in Sweden than he is here in the UK. This tin foil hat nonsense about the USA doing a backdoor extradition is simply not upheld in any way by either fact or logic. These claims are simply self aggrandisement by a narcissistic attention seeking man of no integrity. 18. If a group of men trained to use guns and explosives stockpile weapons and IED components in US soil and have the dedicated aim of killing the POTUS and unleash a range of terror attacks on civil and military targets surely they are terrorists. You can bet you ass that if they were Muslims you'd most likely never hear of them as they'd be flown to some 3rd world or eastern European shit hole and tortured or supermaxed. Yet these murdering scrots... http://tinyurl.com/8vnohzg Get away with being charged with 'malice murder, felony murder, criminal gang activity, aggravated assault and using a firearm while committing a felony.' WTF???? Just what the hell counts as terrorism? Let alone Treason? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 21. We are getting of topic, the actual issue is not about what constitutes rape or even if JA committed rape. The issues at hand in this thread is the question of what should be done with Assange. The charge is irrelevant to the question, the fact remains that there is an outstanding European arrest warrant against Mr Assange and it is Britain's legal obligation to arrest him and hand him over to the Swedish Government who will then determine if an offence has occurred. 22. The National Rifle Association of the United Kingdom was founded in 1859 (twelve years before the NRA in the US). It was granted a charter of incorporation by Queen Victoria in 1890. They're NOT the same organization as the NRA in the United States, are not related to them, and they are the governing body of pistol and rifle shooting sports in the UK. Two countries just happen to have "National" rifle associations. Yea, I misread Kelpdiver's post.
