Glad they got the scum. Vasbyt. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

I'm not taking it out of context simply directly taking it from the bible and asking a question about what clearly looks like a statement that runs against the whole notion of Jesus being the Prince of peace. If you read the rest of eiter chapter you will see that far from taking it out of context I lifted the entire verse that relates to the part I was asking about. If I were trying to take it out of context I would have made reference to the part where Jesus appears to call for martyrs. (I understand what he is really saying here, the rest seems pretty clear to me.) When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Uncle Tony is missing has anyone seen him?

In that case I'll tell you this story... Last night I was told this story by a vicar who has a friend who is a Priest in New York. One day a well known crime figure came into the church and asked him to give his dead brother a Christian burial. He also told him that if during the cermony he described his brother as a Saint he would give him $200,000 towards the steeple fund. He also told him that if he didn't he would make his life unpleasent and that he had the power to do that. Now the Priest new of the dead brother who had also been involved in organised crime, he needed the money but it would mean lying. He spend couple of sleepless night worrying. On the day of the funeral by the grave all the gangsters were gathered in their black suits and long coats. The priest looked around took a breath and said, " We all know the man in the coffin was a lyer, cheat, bully, adulterer, drug dealer and a thief....." here was stunned silence and then the Priest pointed to the dead mans relative and said "But compared to his brother this man was a Saint!" I know that smell, you're right its not sweat. I don't know what it is but its very distinct. I wonder if a sudden surge in adrenaline could effect the receptors in our olfactory bulb somehow? Maybe only jumpers can smell it, maybe it is a phantom smell. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. I don't understand why Jesus is refered to as the Prince of Peace when he was very clear that Peace was not what he was bringing. Also why Christians and Muslims feel that his words were meant for them when again he was very clear as to who his message was aimed at. I agree with your interpretation. End timers worry the hell out of me far more than Islamic terrorists who don't have the bomb or the influence that the end timers do. Thats pretty ironic coming from someone who selectivly looks at the entire religion and calls it a 'death cult' based on the actions of those who take action on said interpretation of selected verses. I think it's more the perception that those who stand on the other side of the debate behave as if they were never wrong. The shrill from the "left" has been from a position of "see we told you so" when in fact, everyone was singing in unison. Simply not correct. The current situation was predicted years ago, and I was have always been against the invasion. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=463216#463216 When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Now is that the Real IRA you're talking about or just the Provos? It's hard to gauge just how bad your analogy is. For the purpose of his arguement there is no difference, both are Catholic terrorist organisations which murder innocents based on the religion and belifes of their victims. Were you equally incensed by IRA atrocities committed by so-called Roman Catholics? I sure as hell was!!! How dare they gun down and bomb and otherwise destroy the lives of fellow Christians in the name of their own brand of faith! It's f*cking absurd and makes my blood boil. And I feel the exact same, THE EXACT SAME when a so-called "pro-lifer" kills an abortionist. It positively incenses (sp?) me to see such killing in the name of God. I personally like what the late Cardinal O'Connor said about such madness... he said he'd rather someone kill HIM than they kill (in this instance) an abortionist. That was the best way he could describe his outrage at such insanity. Does that spell it out clear enough for you? Glad to hear it, then you understand what the overwhelming majority of Muslims feel like. People are jumping to conclusions and making some very big assumptions here. The fact is that Somali's gunmen like the person in the article said are always looking for white people to kill. I was personaly involved in the case of two victims of such a attack a couple of years ago when two elderly aid workers had the contents of their calvarum trumaticly evacuated by AK47 rounds curtsy of Somali gunmen as they watched tv at home. This happens not infrequently, sometimes the killers are bandits sometimes they belong to a militia. To jump to the conclusion that this was because of what the pope said is a dangerous one and a knee jerk sound bite piece of poor reporting. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/4552420.stm When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy.
