  1. I never said it had rivets or screws? always thought that was you... I doubt enough wind got in the stairs to do that. I see piano hinges holding the doors. those are strong. I can see Cooper tearing off the placard or the door and if he was right handed it would go down the stairs. Pictures are needed of the interior of those stairs to verify it had two doors. they should of easily noticed the door missing. they said they didn't notice it missing until after the testing. nothing about a door. only the placard. if it didn't have this function. it didn't come from 305.
  2. I'm not saying it was a decal, thin like a decal. thin plastic separates it from a decal. it's obviously thin enough to tear easily. Rivets can be done easily by the mechanics. I have several different pop rivet guns that are manual and air..
  3. I would go ahead and cancel. threats of wanting someone to advertise this won't work either..
  4. I think the odds are greater the placard was not pop riveted. the way the placard looks does suggest it. the thickness of the card is very thin. in the photo you will see a similar placard. this is from a smoke door on a cargo plane.
  5. Hominid wrote this in a email to me in 2014... The emergency extension system was not part of the original design. It was added by some airlines, mostly in cargo planes, about 1970. A few years after the hijacking, most airlines removed it about the same time they changed the normal airstair system so as not to require manual control of the hydraulics for normal use of the stairs. This was when the pushbutton was removed from the end of the lever for the normal airstair control. The adding, then removing, of the emergency extension system is why it is important to include the timeframe when asking someone about the airstair.
  6. Cross your fingers...I found the contact to try and gain access to a 727-200 owned by FedEx. I'm calling him tomorrow..hopefully, the placard will be on it along with the door...
  7. Read what it says...the chute was returned after the DA decided NOT to use it as evidence....that doesn't mean it wasn't. the FBI is not going to keep something that is of no use. the DA found it not relevant to use. if they can't prove the hair from the towel doesn't belong to Cooper. that will not be used either..that was evidence?
  8. It wasn't used......the defense would never admit to knowledge of something not used in the crime. the DA decided it wasn't of any value. the chute he tore apart would be used to help explain the crime, but not to convict. they wouldn't need another chute. obviously, it would be something very strong to get him in court in the first place. items linking him to the crime. the ticket, notes, the chute he used. I fail to see a quote from the DA explaining it wasn't on the plane. my guess he would of noted that..
  9. They wouldn't be able to use it as evidence. it would be hard to link it to him. to have him in court would suggest a lot more against him vs a parachute on the plane. wasn't really used in the crime.
  10. Eric is going to the location as well. it doesn't matter who gets there first. you will both have your own photo's to post on your own website. mission accomplished by both parties. To make it fun, like you want to do. make a placard to put in the location where the original was found. that way others will see it. make a video of the event at night around the same time the plane flew over.
  11. Several things to consider.. I tried to tell you that you are not really in a search area if you believe the known flight path. who would support that? why do you need anyone's support if you have people going. speaking of them. why do you trample over them with constant cancellations? They searched the area twice. things would still be there a couple years later. the location itself is under question. lots of variables surrounding the whole thing. I even told you to look for the door flyjack believes went with the placard. that MIGHT be in the area. if it even happened that way. you were constantly implying the main reason was to have fun make friends etc. how can we make that happen? you are not sending very good signals if the people that support you read all of this. I don't think we need to get more involved with the commenting on TMN's.
  12. Robert, this has nothing to do with your trip. it's been going on before that even started. searching for something has nothing to do with the discussion of the path itself. if anything, you were the one who might of been motivated from all of this.
  13. The odds are pretty low of it being another 727. Boeing did a lot of testing but who knows where..
  14. I have a 727 at the airport by me. I'm trying to get access to it. it was given to them by FedEx. I want to get detailed photo's of the stairs.
  15. If not mistaken they flew over the ocean. the drop sleds didn't open. they were only used to reproduce the action of the stairs..not the jump. not sure about retracing the flight with the plane...don't know.
  16. Boeing did a lot of testing in the area, right?
  17. "Relevant Fact— The placard was found about 13 miles east of Castle Rock. This is commensurate with the strong winds from the west. Its rate of fall would usually be around 2.5 feet per second. Put all the calculations together and it would drop about 9000 feet in an hour. Add the heavier weather, barometric pressure, and the intermittent downpour, and the rate of decent is doubled. Thus the placard could have been found as much as 22 miles or more east of where it dropped from the Boeing 727."
  18. Every 727 I've seen with photo's of the stairs show the plastic box the with the handle inside. you can see it in this photo.
  19. Good stuff Fly. we need more information on NWO's 727's. not Continental or anyone else. the emergency handles were different in the 727's. we need to find a picture of the area. if the door was torn off. it's possible the jet wash destroyed the door and placard leaving what we see in the photo's.
  20. The tear and bend could be manipulating the angle. I enlarged the area as much as I could given the fact of the bad resolution..The R looks like it's center with the D..
  21. It's from a different angle and blurry....
  22. "Your map is actually done very well. I have printed this up and included it in a folder of map images that I will be taking along to Castle Rock." The best option I see for you in that area is looking for the small door Flyjack believes went out the back. it's light enough to possibly be in the area. it's plastic though so metal detectors will not find it.
  23. Robert, we are trying to determine if the picture on the left from the episode of In Search Of is the same placard. the sheriff was thanked in the credits. I'm assuming the cards are the same.. Fly, the picture is blurry not allowing to tell but appears to be the same IMO.
  24. The I is hidden in the background. I thought that as well. I don't think the fonts are different either. it would be silly to have everything correct down to the cuts and tears and use a different font. the picture is from an old show with horrible resolution when it was posted on You Tube.
  25. Correct. are you troubled with the tear?
