  1. Pretty cool. Especially the anti-dust thing is pretty cool. Canon has the camera on their site too Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  2. Proud to join such clan :) Didn't quite understand, what number it is? I think he's talking about the serial number of your Phantom.
  3. This kind, I'd bet. Heh awesome pic. Okay so it's an amazing looking suit, very cool. It just very fast and sleek and everything, but I can't help thinking that this thing will be outflown by most wingsuits? It is still a trackingsuit. If you're gonna go this far with a tracking suit, why not put these sorts of modifications on a wingsuit? Then you'll really get awesome performance (especially that integrated rig + deflector combo is very cool). Anyone know the reasoning behind it? Or is it a "just because we can" project, which is cool too of course. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  4. Nice, cool looking suit. I'm sure you'll like it! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  5. Holy crap that is fucking low.. that is lowpulling redefined... OMG. Nice job Jarno, looks pretty cool. So, yeah who is the guy with the balls of steel and no sense of self preservation. Looks like a slider up pack job. Is that standard for wingsuit base? Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  6. Yes, but be careful of using a large "cone-like" lens like the Kenko lenses if you don't have a D-box to protect it. I managed to screw up my camera that way unfortunately. The camera does ok strapped to the outside of my helmet (on an L-bracket), but the filter ring on the camera didn't do so well when I hit the bar in the door on the way out with the lens. 7. Holy crap so Loic has started making double zippers too? That's fucking cool! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  8. I don't have the authority to say much about S3S - S6 differences, but I have heard of some: - leading edge and the top skin is of a different material to make the airflow smoother - cut-aways have been redesigned. They were a real pain on the S3S, getting loose a lot. - material has been changed in other places as well, to make the suit better fitting and more user friendly. - various cosmetic changes Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  9. Sorry about the hijack, but I have to chime in here.. I have a couple jumps on an S-Fly Expert and I concur with Birdynamnam, it's a totally different sensation. It is a lot less "heavy" to fly and thus very comfortable and easy going. That said though, in usage it's not so user friendly. Getting in and out of the suit is a real chore compared to the double zipper suits from Bird-Man and Phoenix Fly. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  10. Looks like it still maximises? Yeah, thats one thing to chase people away really really quickly. Mess with their browser windows. I really hate that. Enter/welcome pages are a no-no. You want people to be able to see what you have to offer in the first glances at your site. Also, you have sort of a 2-column setup. With a picture mosaic on the left side, and links to the gallery on the right. It isn't really clear what the site is about straight away, the mosaic is a decoration, but it's a bit distracting next to the other pics. I suggest leaving the mosaic and putitng the short piece of intro text on the right, in bigger text (now it's so small it looks like a disclaimer or copyright notice) and then having either a lot smaller pics with links to the gallery or a big button/text, which takes you to the gallery. Good luck! Very nice pictures by the way. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  11. I second that. Having flown both the S3 (without inserts) and the S3S (with inserts), I feel they give the wingsuit a more solid and stable feel during flight (that's my perception at any rate). And yes, they are a pain in the ass when you have to stow it in your gearbag. You have to actually pack your wingsuit in a particular way as you would pack your chute in a particular way. 12. Apparently it's bad for the tape when the camera is too long on standby and the tape stays in one place with the write head spinning. So the camera, to protect the tape, shuts down. I don't remember the exact reason, it's in your manual. It should shut down even on the ground, perhaps those times that it didn't shut down is when there was no tape in it, which is one time when it will not automatically shut down. Do you turn your camera on before you board the plane? I have a simple rule that I turn the camera on when the door opens and set it to record when people start exiting, that way I won't forget and I have "queues" so to speak to remind me. Not that it is flawless, but it's the best I could come up with. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  13. I secure my stills camera with some elastic cord, you know the one they use for goggles. I'll try & describe it, but I'll post some pix tonight (have to go to work soon). I've drilled 4 extra holes around the sides and the elastic cord goes from the back right hole to the front left hole and another cord from the back left hole to the front right hole. This allows me to cross the cord over the camera both ways. For "cleaning up", I just pull the cord back inside the camera when not in use. The elastic cords then sit flush on the helmet, also allowing me to stow the plug for the biteswitch there. I'm pretty happy with the result. Pix follow tonight. Cheers, Costyn. 14. Okay, you've convinced me. I'll get the 10-22 (eventually, when I save up the money). I'm not front mounting, so that really isn't much of an issue. Hmmm good point. It was just that I wanted to invest in a sharper lens, and I thought a prime lens would be a good candidate since I think I wouldn't really be changing the zoom much. I guess I used the wrong word: I really meant sharp, not so much fast, because yes, I won't be using it wide open in skydiving situations. What about the fact that it is an EF-S lens? If I ever get an full-frame camera, I wouldn't be able to use this lens on it. There's still debate on the internet if the future is gonna be with full frame or 2/3's frame camera's. Apparently Nikon is sticking with 2/3's. Dunno what Canon is gonna do. Even so, I guess I should be able to sell it if that's ever the case. Bob Atkins doesn't worry about it, so I guess I shouldn't either. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  15. I'm using the 18-55 kitlens on my 350D at the moment, at 18mm for all skydives. I figured if I'm gonna get a fast lens for skydiving, I might as well get a prime lens, and the difference between 18 and 20 isn't that much, which is why I'm saving up to buy the Canon 20mm. However, I'm still having doubts as to if I perhaps should save some more and go for the 10-22. I don't think I would use the 10mm setting much, it's way to wide for most shots. And I think I'd rather get used to shooting at 20mm then having the option of zooming between really wide and not so really wide.
  16. Congrats... Very cool. I'm sure you'll be pleased with your choices. I too wanna see pix of your setup when it's all set up. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

  18. I'm using auto-focus on my stills, which usually works pretty well, but at odd times it doesn't, which is why I looked into the hyperfocal distance thing. I understand the theory behind the hyperfocal distance, but I can't seem to replicate it on my camera (350D). I've used the hyperfocal distance calculator too, but to no avail. (I'm using the kit-lens btw). Oh yeah on video I use manual focus set to infinity with a .45 lens. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

I had to send my S3S back to Bird-Man about a month back because there was a tear in the wing. I'm not sure of the cause, but probably my own fault. The deflector had probably gotten caught behind something and made a rip. I sent it to the Bird-Man factory and I got it back 4 weeks later, which I thought was a reasonable time. Cheers, Costyn. 20. There was even a guy in a slightly modified prodigy which he flew amazingly well. It's a bright blue suit and he just extended the leg wing some, but did nothing to the arm wings. At 00:52 you can see him flying perfectly next to the base. He was one of the first ones next to the base and he stayed there the whole jump too. Very impressive flying for having such small arm wings to work with. Just found a pic as well (see attachment), he's flying to the left of the base. Cheers, Costyn. 21. Amen to that, brother! Cheers, Costyn. p.s. Phoenix-Fly sucks! p.p.s. Just kidding of course!!! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  22. Hmm yeah resolution does suck. There were like 5 people taking this group foto. We need to find someone who is willing to post a full resolution pic. Ulrike, I seem to remember some people from the organization taking pictures as well... do you perhaps know whom? (being from the organization too). Can you find out if anyone from the organization has a better resolution picture? Mark Harris has noted that Jules Hoult can't be found in this picture, but he's possibly hiding behind #22. So there may be 70 after all? Does anyone know what the manifest list said as to the number of people? Rolf never stated that he saw the manifest for that load, so I'm still curious.
  23. The music is 'Touched' by 'V.A.S.T.' (why yes, I am bored at work and read dz.com too much) Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  24. Hmm I actually think Girl #3 is one of the girls from manifest, she's holding the Bird-Man and PD flags. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
