  1. Holy crap that is an amazing video from an amazing jump. Very. Fucking. Cool! Can't wait 'till next year... Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  2. That looks like a sweet camera. I wonder, will we still be able to Firewire footage to eachother in the future, seeing as it will probably come with some forms of DRM. This might be a video camera that is better top mounted, which would mean I could move my stills to the side of my head. Anybody jumping stills on the side? I think the framing would actually improve for wingsuiting, where you're mostly taking pictures looking at the side. Cheers, Costyn. 3. And be just as cool and just as poor at the end of that... Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  4. The word you are looking for is 'Danish' - mccordia - costyn van dongen Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  5. Good to hear you found our videos useful. Now we know we didn't put them up for nothing. As for flat spins, I've had a number of situations where they started up, but I've always sort of stopped them before they got worse by balling up. In my experience, a flat spin happens when I'm trying some manuever or I fuck up an exit (like I did in Cochstedt once - it was an impressive exit spin - Jarno, maybe you can post the footage some time). It feels like the suit is flying you and suddenly you don't need to stretch out your arms and legs because they are being stretched out for you. So, my advice is: next time it happens, don't wait for it to sort itself out, just ball up. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  6. - Av mode - f/10 - whitebalance sunny or cloudy (or manual when it's close to sunset) - iso 200 (I used to use 400, but it gets a bit noisy when you zoom in) - kit lens set to 18mm (with a large rubber band) - autofocus (having the camera select it's own AF point). 7. Sounds cool. So James, are you using the Phantom now or the V2? I imagine the V2 and setting your ProTrack alarms at the 2 altitudes? Good job on the flying/floating everyone!
  8. If you look at the history of the page, you'll see that there is a little edit war going on between UncleCharlie (James) and the user at the IP address in question. It seems that the user doesn't want to accept that it was Robert who, while working at Bird-Man, apparently did most (all?) of the design work on the original Bird-Man classic? James had put in this information in the wiki, then the user removed it, James added it, user removed it, etc etc. That's one of the problems with wiki's. It usually happens with controversial topics like religion and politics, but wingsuits are near & dear to a lot of people too.
  9. Jumping was good Friday and Saturday, but Sunday so far has been shit. There was 1 load and it doesn't look good for the rest of the afternoon. Videos of Friday and Saturday should be up in a while. But there was a fun party last night at some club on the island (with lots of non-skydivers) which a bunch of us went to. The party at the Cochstedt boogie was better. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  10. Although I was implying it would be footage of a good flat turn, it'll probably turn into a clusterfuck and make for some funny footage. But, I'll still try.
  11. We'll try this out next weekend and have someone film it, then we'll post it and you can see the video. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  12. Hahaha that's hilarious Jules. Funny stuff! "Under what circumstances would you say yes to Koala-man a) Hell freezes over b) Death (his) c) Death (mine) d) Re-growth of leg hair " Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  13. Wow... that is an amazing picture. Did you touch up the colors with Photoshop or did it come this way out of the camera? Either way, very very cool. More! More! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  14. Ok, here are the pics in question. Warning: Please, if you are easily offended, DO NOT open these pictures. They portray a joke of very bad taste, and although I know that most skydivers will enjoy these (being the sorts of people who enjoy bad/sick jokes), there are people will object to this. If in doubt, don't look at them. Don't say I didn't warn you... Mods, if these are too offensive, please edit/delete this post. Thanks. Cheers, Costyn. 15. Hahah yeah me too. Another event I have pictures of... dunno if we can post them here though? Strippers ok, boners ok, golden showers... crosses the line? Scott, whadda ya think? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  16. Okay yeah their records should show exactly who was on the plane in that load. I guess they are still recovering from their hectic week?
  17. Well, as most of you must have gotten in your email, we didn't make the 70-way for some silly reason. 2 people put their names on both cilpboards and so were counted twice, leaving us short (slots which could have been filled by reserve people). Too bad they didn't do a headcount before we entered the plane. In an email from Rolf: And in a more upbeat note, the group picture from just before the attempt and a list of names of people that were on it on birdman.com Oh well, too bad. But, the other flights we made were so awesome I wouldn't have wanted to miss any of it! Thanks everyone! Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  18. Hehe, what I meant is that you might have been jumping in a big hole further on and not have any more pix of pretty clouds.
  19. Here's the series in question... hehehe... Remember, pictures probably not safe for work... Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  20. Yeaaaaaaaah... Last night I was going through the pictures I made during the evening in question, and in many pictures you are featured as well, hovering around the strippers with your video camera. I definitely think you should edit and post a video of that... Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  21. Very nice... Did you go wingsuiting over those clouds too? I would like to see more pix from that series... Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  22. Here they are, the two village idiots of the boogie.
  23. For those of you wondering what this huge airport was doing in the middle of nowhere (as was I), I did some digging and found the following in a document from 2000. As some expected it was a former Russian airbase, but it was renovated for freight airplanes. Looks like it didn't quite work out. Which is fortunate for us skydivers of course.
  24. They were hot women in wingsuits. What more do you want? No, true, they weren't skydivers, but the cross section of hot chicks that skydive, fly wingsuits and do stripteases isn't very large. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  25. Ask and ye shall recieve. Warning: Pictures may be NOT Safe For Work! That was the most amazing weekend ever. And the coolest skydives I've made. I had no idea what to expect of this boogie, but it was waaay more awesome than I could have imagined. Thanks everyone who was there and made it happen! FOK JAA!
