That is quite a list. Interesting how some people are listed by their first name, others by their last name? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

If you are a bit handy with a soldering iron you can change it. You can buy a 2.5mm plug at an electronics or audio/visual store and then solder it on instead of the RCA connector. Or, take another RCA connector and solder a little conversion cable, but that has more points of failure. At any rate, those options are cheaper than buying a new biteswitch. Good luck with that. Ah, ok. You mean when jumping off of fixed objects it usually doesn't get to more than 1 minute of max flying, right. Makes sense.

Yeah I know... I couldn't help myself either. But I am geniunely curious as to James' answer. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

So is the S-Fly Expert considered a 'big suit' too? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Okay, I'm confused. Phoenix Fly Vampire wingsuit is made for performance yes? And yet in a competition where it's all about performance you (as PF representative) don't use a Vampire (V1 or V2) to compete with because it's too exhausting? The Mystery Of Hanwags, or How To Fly Phantom at 2.9
Costyn replied to yuri_base's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Haha yeah maybe wingsuiters can start wearing flippers to use as extra wing area or elevators. That might be just crazy enough to work. Only problem is the derision from fellow skydivers would be even worse. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News -
The Mystery Of Hanwags, or How To Fly Phantom at 2.9
Costyn replied to yuri_base's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Ah ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the informative post. Problem in a wingsuit as I see it is that a stalling wingsuit will not drop out of the sky as would an airplane, but will start to act as a round parachute, by just cupping air right? If so, for flying most efficiently, I would think it would be useful to have a stall warning on a wingsuit as on an airplane. Then you know when you are no longer flying but falling. Or am I totally off the mark? edited to add: a round parachute, not a square obviously. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News -
The Mystery Of Hanwags, or How To Fly Phantom at 2.9
Costyn replied to yuri_base's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Yeah, that's true. When I think about it some more, the center of gravity story really only applies to airplanes with only 2 wings and an elevator. Wingsuits are different creatures of course. Is the increased speed when wearing a lead belt not coming due to higher wingloading? Just like a swooper wearing lead to get more speed out of a particular canopy? The Mystery Of Hanwags, or How To Fly Phantom at 2.9
Costyn replied to yuri_base's topic in Wing Suit Flying
There is a bar in the air. Every flying, lift generating body has a center of mass. In regular airplanes you want this to be some point in the wings. If you lift a model airplane by pointing 2 fingers upwards and lifting it by the wings, the center of mass is where the plane balances. Anyways, I assume the same is true for wingsuits, but I'm no aeronautics engineer. I just remember having to adjust the balance on a model airplane I built as a kid. Wikipedia has a thing or two to say about it. Apparently it does not really add to L/D ratios, but more to stall recovery and general stability of the plane. So... who won and in what categories and how was the competition set up? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Yeah very nice article; informative and doesn't describe us as nutters with a deathwish. Nice work, Lurch.

Hehe that reminds me, there's something else like it: http://sportsstuff.com/towables/wego/index.shtml Looks like fun. EDIT: this is the same device that notsane posted. Apologies. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Ehm, you are being sarcastic no? 64 seconds is easy to do in a tracking jump ... ? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Hmm, re-reading this old thread I can't believe I missed this the first time around. I'd like to hear the full story about your AAD's going off while holding a dock. Errrmmmm yeah Audible Altimeter Devices? Hahaha man this thread just keeps coming back to haunt people... At the beginning of this thread Saskia mentions making her first 6 wingsuit jumps... But that was in 2003. Funny stuff. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Ah yeah interesting... apparently I'm Belgian. But seriously, it is an interesting site. I like the way Michael thinks and ponders about certain subjects. I'll definately bookmark it. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Yeah, I can second that. I was getting 120+ second flights; 50 mph vertical speed (dunno about forward speed) in my Classic II after some 70 jumps, and then when I started jumping the S6/S3S I had to learn to fly that all over again. I was back to minimum vertical speeds of 65mph and 95 second flights. And I discovered pains in muscles I didn't know existed. Actually, the best flight times in the S6 are not with stall-flying (as I call it), but by actually letting the suit fly and get lift from forward speed. You do not really need to tilt forward any (head low), just flying the suit flat will get me the best glide ratios. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Haha dude I was at the top for a while 'cuz there were no other people with GPSs uploading their data. No way am I anywhere near the top of performance fliers. McCordia is gonna give the GPS a whirl this weekend. We'll how he does on TrackingDerby.com. But, I have to say this competition looks like fun. Marl isn't even that far away. I think Team Fly Like Brick will partake. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Hey Voodew, I'm kinda confused here... in the thread about the Flying the Acro, you have a disclaimer: And yet in this thread, you say: Biased, nahhh... Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Hehehe. Yeah, bring on the TrackingDerby graphs! This is the TrackingDerby.com wingsuit section thread after all. Not that I really care, but I find it a bit more difficult to interpret the Excel graphs. Anyways, looks like I laughed too soon. Someone else already beat me. Cool, that was really educational, thanks!

No..the clips are just not online yet.... Baby-steps..baby steps...we'll try and work that into the next update.. Oops... yeah those links to the video demo's were just placeholders really... I forgot to take them out when I put the site live. They will be online as soon as we actually edit the footage. And I've removed the Gadget filter so you should be able to post now.
