They do have ribs, but they are not mylar, they are reinforced sail material (which is designed to be able to fold an bend without breaking), so you can stuff your suit in a bag just like you used to with a suit without ribs. I'm guessing the blades make up the core with, what looks like, an S-6/ S-3 on each wing of the formation? Indeed, unfortunately not all of us had the Blade prototypes in Spain. And yes, the white/red/black suits are the new Blades. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Very cool setup, Yuri! It's cool to finally get some raw data to compare to all your theory stuff, right?

Do we have to give free photos and videos???
Costyn replied to davidpanal's topic in Photography and Video
Well, are they 30 to 40 great fotos from 1 jump? I do take a lot of pictures per jump (40 to 50), but I usually keep 10 to 15 really nice ones from that jump. And then if people are paying for the pictures, I tell them the price and show them the pictures, and then they can point out which ones they want. For friends, yes it is hard to ask money. I don't usually ask people I jump with often to pay me money... dunno, maybe some other bigger formation RW photographers can chime in? Thanks for the complement on our website. We try to keep it interesting and updated with pictures (gonna be more pictures up later this week!). Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News -
Can u learn to fly and film together?
Costyn replied to Ms.sofaking's topic in Photography and Video
Yeah, I second that. It doesn't have to be the latest and greatest, but being familiar with your gear before you take it up in the air will make it a lot easier for you once you do. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News -
Do we have to give free photos and videos???
Costyn replied to davidpanal's topic in Photography and Video
I get asked this a lot from people. Generally I never email them to people. That's way too much work. There's a couple different scenarios: - They're people I don't know: I ask them if they have a USB stick, if so, I'll copy the pics to their USB drive and ask a couple euros per picture. If they don't have a usb stick, I'll burn them to a CD (I usually have some blanks with me for this purpose). - They're aquantances: I'll copy them to USB for free or to a CD for some money for the CD. - They're good friends whom I jump with regularly: I'll copy them to USB or a CD for free. In rare cases, I might even email them. Yes, your gear did cost a lot of money, so don't feel bad asking for some money for the pictures. If you price it reasonably, people are usually happy to give you some money in return. Hope this helps. Cheers, Costyn. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News -

I've tried the hyperfocal distance thing with the 18-55, but couldn't get it to be as sharp as when using autofocus. Now that I too have a 10-22, I guess I'll try it again sometime, although I usually let the camera pick it's own AF point and set it to AI Servo... works most of the time. And, back on topic, get the 400D, I think it's pretty much a no-brainer.

Damn... those lenses are expensive! You could buy a nice car from that kind of money... Very cool though... Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Very nice... I like the layout, lots of big pics and some text. There's some pictures in there I hadn't seen before. Pretty cool. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

You already got your lens, but about the step-up ring: if you use a step-up ring, your lens will be a bit further away from your in-camera lens, so the wide-angle effect will be less. A .45 with a step-up ring might become a .55 or so (don't know the exact numbers). Quality should not be affected by a step-up ring. Cheers, Costyn. Ah it's a pic of you... that's pretty cool. Yeah I don't tend to close everything down before I pitch... but I think I could do it more efficiently. How do you manage to find your grippers so quickly again though? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Erm, let me get this right: non-aspherical = spherical = fisheye? The Canon 10-22 that piisfish mentions is a very nice lens, but it is aspherical/non-fisheye. I'd recommend the Sigma 15mm. Canon also has a 15mm fisheye, but it's more expensive. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

Cool... pretty fast puller, if he's able to toss, and take his grippers again within 2 seconds. Or does he have a biteswitch which activates a springloaded pilot chute? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

You can often recover pics that are on the card, even if they have been removed/deleted with programs like Exif Untrasher (for Mac). You need a separate card reader to do it though, Exif Untrasher won't work if you read the card through the camera usb interface. Hysteresis, or Why sometimes you barely move forward

I dunno man, I've seen Loic do some pretty damn flat turns on video. Of course, he's not doing optimal flight when he's skirting the cliff-sides, but still, those turns look pretty flat. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News -

Wow amazing pictures man, very cool. Pictures above the sea are just always amazing. And I have to admit that that one Tony Suits wingsuit that Perry (and later Jeff) is flying actually looks pretty cool (the neon green & black one). The ones I've seen pictures of up 'till now, well, I thought they weren't very pretty (putting it politely ). I think I wanna be there for a future Keys boogie... looks like an amazing place to jump.
