So now you're admitting that we do have free will.
-
Interesting... Would the "deluded people" be the ones who don't happen to share your opinion on this subject?
-
Well, I don't believe in any sort of god, so divine will is out. And I don't believe that events are predetermined, so fate is out. Of course our choices are somewhat constrained by external circumstances, but I don't feel forced to choose any one particular thing, so I say yes we do have free will (or at least I do; not being inside anyone else's head, I can't really speak for anyone else).

Mine needs a retouch - it's starting to fade... http://crayfish.nu/keely/images/misc/shotgun_tat.jpg (about 11 years old now, and it's really on my left shoulder, just snapped a picture of it in the mirror)

I think I prefer neither. I like it when there is such a strong mutual attraction that you can just look at each other and know what's up, no need for a chase on either part. Why? I guess I don't find chasing someone or being chased to be much fun... Hmm... maybe it means that he has met his match.

Kitty play toys, with one of those fat rubber bands tied at one end - they love it.
-
I never understood that either. Growing up in West Texas where football is such a big thing (I guess it's big all over the US actually), I was always baffled by the attraction to watching a bunch of guys play football... Oh well, I'm sure there are things that I enjoy doing that other people might not understand. And I guess I'm doing nothing at all to help you understand why televised sports are interesting to others.

You have an El Camino? I love those! And now I think you are so cool that I decided to steal your avatar idea (but at least I chose a different flower - one of my cosmos).
-
That's what I meant. Guess I didn't word it very well though (imagine that!)... For a long time I had the misconception that we were supposed to have evolved from chimpanzees (or something like that), but I now understand that we are related in that we evolved from a common ancestor.
-
Yeah, he was not impressed. I had to give him some cat treats to make up for that one. I wanted to get a better picture, but I don't think I'll try that again. Though we did just get him a little cat collar with a bell on it, that he has to wear if he's in a feisty mood and attacking his sister (so that she can hear him sneaking up on her).
-
So before this divergence, were we supposedly the same thing as chimpanzees/bonobos but then we evolved in different directions?
-
That's a great picture, and a beautiful cat!
-
Well, at the risk of billvon giving me a hard time about posting my pussies on the Internet again, here is the more photogenic of the two I have: (I may have posted these before.) with a candle looking like a wild pussy and with a collar that he wore just long enough for me to snap a pic
-
So what exactly does a "convergence" mean?
-
Sounds like an interesting read... except that thinking about chimpanzees is creeping me out today, after reading that horrible news story about the guy getting attacked (somewhere around LA?)... And a different subject (but it sounds like something you might have read)... I was just trying to decide whether to order a book called "The Astonishing Hypothesis: The Scientific Search for the Soul" by Francis Crick. It is mostly about brain research, but having been written in 1994, I'm wondering if it's already kinda out of date. And I'm wondering how you find time to read so much (but maybe that's because I'm about the slowest reader in the world).

Teens Leaping For Thrills In 'Garage Jumping' Trend
Shotgun replied to wildblue's topic in The Bonfire
One of the guys I used to hang out with as a teenager sometimes did this. It always made my stomach drop to see him jump across to the other parking garage, but most of the group would cheer him on. I was sure we would be scraping him off the ground at some point, but luckily he always made it. -
I think it is because we all have a different idea of what the "correct way" to drive is, so everyone who doesn't have the same idea becomes a "moron". Personally, I try to drive according to the traffic laws (use my turn signals, turn my headlights on when it's raining, use the passing lane as a passing lane, etc.), but I'm sure there are other drivers out there who think I'm a moron anyway (like the person who wants to drive 70mph through a one-lane school or construction zone when they are stuck behind me going just a few mph over the actual speed limit).

Vector III Micron v306, PD 126 and Samurai 105
Shotgun replied to crazydiver's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have a Micron V306 and a Tempo 120 reserve that packs pretty tight in it. So, like everyone else has said, I don't think a PD126R would fit right. But if you have decided that a 126 is the right size reserve for you, then I would say buy a container to fit that size reserve; don't downsize the reserve just so you can have a smaller container. Oh, and yeah, my Micron looks short and fat and seems to stick out really far behind my back. If/when I buy another rig, I will probably get a regular Vector, not the Micron. (But that's just my personal preference; I'm guessing that different rig styles work for different body shapes/sizes.) -
Well, it's not like I have a life or anything... So I might as well download porn and post pictures of my cats that no one really wants to see... And download songs, but for some reason I actually pay for those.
-
Thanks for posting all the cute kitty pictures, y'all... I love all of them! Except it's making me want more kitties. Oh, and Amazon, that "humpus interruptus" picture is pretty funny.

can someone help me resize this picture for my profile
Shotgun replied to hoppinnpoppin's topic in The Bonfire
I'm guessing it's because you're using Internet Explorer and it's trying to save it as a bitmap (.bmp) when you right-click on the picture to save it? Try right-clicking on the name of the file (the link) in my original post and saving it from there ("save target as"). -
Ha! I am not ticklish!
