  1. None of us wants to pay more taxes. But in some circumstances they may need to be raised. Personally if taxes in the USA are to be raised (only after big cuts to government spending are made), I feel the best place to raise these taxes would be in consumption taxes (ie: sale taxes). As long as they are not raised too high they should help bring some additional revenue to governments while at the same time allowing people to decided whether or not they can afford the taxes on their consumption. The ever so hated rich people usually do pay their consumption taxes when they buy their lavish lifestyles (houses, yachts, airplanes, cars not to mention entertainment). Question to dizzy.com Republicans: Would you accept new consumption taxes? or are you totally against all taxes? Republicans can win the next presidential election if they play their cards smart, but both Donkeys and Elephants need to understand that the good of the nation should trump the lust for power. At least in my opinion, new consumption taxes are the fairest taxes. Just don't raise them so high that it drives people into the underground economy. 2. I see AggieDave falls into the "crashed" category of the two types of motorcyclists (as do I). Let us hope that this wet paint in a parking lot is the worst crash he will have moving forward. However earlier AggieDave asked, since he is a swooper, he is a competitive swooper (meaning he pushing things more than just a run of the mill beer line swooper) and he rides a motorcycle, "Does this mean he will die one day". I am sorry to say ... yes Dave one day you will die. None of us gets out of here alive. So go enjoy your swoops and enjoy your motorcycle(s). I know I don't want to die prematurely. But I would rather go out on a swoop gone bad, go out in a traffic accident, or maybe even a plane crash than to rot away from some nasty cancer. One cool way to go would be to be old and grey and have massive heart failure while doing it in bed with some young hottie. Now I just need to convince some young hottie to help me fulfill this one day ... preferably many years from now in the future. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. Okay so we can now say you acknowledge that the problems in the USA are much bigger than the Iraq war? As unfortunate as the war was, there is no need to constantly bring it up every time some discussion about the state of the US finances are concerned because the present troubles the US is in were caused by more than just the Iraq war. Step one accomplished. Next. Do you acknowledge that both Democrats and Republicans have done things that have screwed over the American people? If no, you believe that all problems in the USA can be directly related to only the Republicans, then maybe I can interest you in some beautiful beach front time share properties in Bangladesh? I hear the summer months in this tropical time share paradise are to die for. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. I hope you realize that the debt the US Government is in is much bigger than just the Iraq war. If you think that the trouble the US is in is exclusively because of this war, maybe I can interest you in some beautiful beach front time share properties in Bangladesh? I hear the summer months in this tropical time share paradise are to die for. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. Isn't there some movie sub plot for this scenario? Yes there is. The Big Chill. Why can't your wife be like the Glenn Close character wife in this movie? Then you would be able to have sex with your wife's depressed friend. It worked in Hollywood, why not in the real world? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. Neither activity is safe. Then again I have suffered more injuries playing ice hockey than anything else I have done in life (of course it could be argued that I played more ice hockey than any other activity as well). Most of the time ice hockey is not lethal, but there have been a few freak occasions where it has turned lethal. Problem with motorcycles isn't the actual bike. The problem is either the user of the bike or other vehicles on the road. Problem with skydiving isn't the gear, it's usually the user of the gear or other people in the sky. I would highly recommend all motorcyclists (especially new ones) to seek advanced rider training where they can learn life saving techniques such as counter steering. At least with safety training motorcyclists have some hope in reacting to an emergency scenario properly because there are two types of motorcyclists. 1) Those who have crashed and 2) those who have yet to crash. I fall into the crashed category. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. They just ran this story on one of our national TV news networks. I got to say this was in very poor taste. Not so much that they were young (would we be whining if two boys wrestled each other?), not so much that it was held inside of a cage. No I think this was in poor taste because according to the news story I just watched, they charged the spectators $40/head to watch these boys fight and served alcohol to the spectators who wanted to drink. If kids want to wrestle, let them wrestle. But don't be charging money for people to watch this spectacle. Very poor taste from my side of the fence. http://www.globalnational.com/GlobalNational/video/cage+fighting+boys+on+tape+ignites+public+anger/video.html?v=2140492208&p=2&s=dd#video Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. Porsche sells the 997 GT3RS equipped with a roll bar. Well sells the 997 GT3RS with a roll bar everywhere but in North America. But there is a difference between a roll bar and a roll cage. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. I didn't say he said that. So the spin is yours, of my words. ROFLMAO ... you just wrote this today: you are calling him out for whining that taxes left him with a paltry $400,000 to support his family. Nowhere in the video does he say anything close to what you are alleging he said. Once again please show me exactly where in the video that he is whining that $400k is a paltry sum to support his family. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. Another person who did NOT watch the interview but was all too happy to label the congressman as a scumbag. Hey if you have evidence that this congressman is an actually scum bag, please present it and I will be happy to call him a scum bag if he is indeed one. But to remind you of what was said in the interview, the congressman grossed over 6 million dollars from all his LLC businesses. Once expenses were applied, he made a profit of $600k (the interview does not say if this $600k was already taxed or if it was simply taxable income, based on other things he said I assumed it was $600k of taxable income). He then goes on to say he used about $200k to pay for his personal family expenses. The dude paid his taxes. All he is saying is if the government took more taxes from him he would have less money to possibly reinvest in his businesses. I wonder what world some of you are demanding where you question where this man was allowed to spend his money especially when there are a number of Left leaning Dizzy.commers here who themselves own their own personal airplanes and/or own massive boats and own massive trucks to tow their boats. If the guy wants to spend $200k of his own after tax money, what business is it of yours how he spends his money? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. I have to think you never watched the video of the MSNBC interview and instead chose to believe the spin from the Huffington Post. Please tell us exactly where in the interview (here it is again) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNIQvxo0JT0 is this congressman whining that $400,000 is not enough to support his family. Tell us what minute:second mark do we start and then stop watching in this video where he whines that $400,000 is not enough money to support his family with. There is a difference between saying "He would have less money to reinvest in his businesses if government was to all of a sudden take more from him in taxes" versus what you are alleging he said. Nowhere in this video does he say what you and the Huffington Post have alleged him saying. Since when has being a successful business entrepreneur become such a bad thing? 13. Dude I am pretty sure 99.9% of the people who visited this thread assumed people here would be talking about options they would like to have on their street legal production cars. The OP was specifically asking what options they might want to consider on a new production car. 99.9% of the people visiting this thread likely feel they do not need a roll cage (some might not even know the difference between a roll cage and a roll bar). If you want one, fine. Buy a car, strip the interior down to the metal and weld in your roll cage, paint it and then add back the interior components. But what you are saying you want in your car(s) is outside the scope the OP was asking in this thread. Roll cages exist for race cars and/or purpose built track cars. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Please show me an example of a manufacture of production street legal road cars that offers roll cages. I am not aware of a single manufacture who offers a roll cage as an extra. You want a roll cage? Fine, buy a car, strip the interior down to the bare metal and start welding in a roll cage. Once the roll cage is installed, then start adding back the interior components. But as I said I am not aware of a single manufacture that offers roll cages in their production street legal cars as an option. The only manufactures I know that offer such a car are companies who build purpose built race cars. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. Let's take a step back and ask ourselves "What is this thread about"? The OP of this thread is asking for people's opinions on what options they like when they order a new production car from a manufacturer. Plenty of people came along giving their feedback. Then you came along and said "I would like to order a roll cage". Now I am not aware of a single manufacturer of street legal road cars that offers roll cages (if you are please educate me as to who offers them). Sure you can order something like a Cup car from certain manufactures. But guess what? Cup cars are NOT street legal. They are race cars. I know plenty of people who have roll bars, racing seats and harnesses in their street legal road cars. But none of these people have done this because they wanted the added safety features on the public roads. They added these features because they track their cars. On the race track when you are driving at the limit these things are good to have. When I am on an "In Lap" at my local track I don't even need to use my brakes and yet I am still traveling faster than people drive on the public roads. If you want a roll cage for a track car, then fine no argument. But if you think you need a roll cage for a car you only drive on the public roads, then we have a bigger problem here than you possibly conking your head on the cage. Why are you driving so fast on the public roads where you think you need a roll cage? Come join us on the race tracks. There you can drive at your limits and not be putting the general public at risk. Roll cages are devices for purpose built track/race cars. This thread is not about what options would you add to your track/race car. You can start one and I would eagerly participate in it. I have decent knowledge of what makes a good race car, but I also have much more still to learn. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. My 1999 Jeep Wrangler has no amenities, nada. No power nothing. No power windows, no power locks, no a/c, no cruise control, no fancy navigation or movie playing gizmos. Heck I don't even have a carpet on the floor, it is just steel. No automatic transmission, only a 5 speed manual transmission. Now to tell you the truth I don't need any amenities in my Jeep. Jeeps are supposed to be raw and simple. It's a Jeep thing. Now my 1997 911 has some amenities. It does have power windows, power locks, cruise control and A/C. It had leather seats, it has a sunroof that I now wish was not there because it adds weight. It does not have a CD player, it has something better. It has an MP3 player hookup. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. These two things "roll cage" and "cruise control" are mutually exclusive, and yet you want them both on a car at the same time? No I am afraid that makes no sense. Since you say you have a roll bar and you properly posted a roll rage reference, I have to assume you know what a roll cage is. Roll cages are NOT street legal (at least not where I live) because if you bash your unprotected head into one of the bars you can knock yourself silly (or worse). Therefore the only place you will ever see, ever need a roll cage is for a car prepped only for track use while you are wearing a helmet. I guess you could drive around the public roads wearing a helmet, but to drive a roll cage equipped car anytime without a helmet is just asking for it. Cruise control is fine to use on the highway to save some gas, but since you want a roll cage for a car that can only be used on the track, why would you want cruise control? Cruise control is the last thing you want on a track car. Cruise control for a street car? yes, but not a track car. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. Makes no sense. You can only use a Roll Cage on the track while you are wearing a helmet (driving a Roll Cage equiped car without a helmet is asking for it), but why would you want Cruise Control for the track? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. - I have a sunroof on my car and now that I know better I wish it was not there (then again I did not buy the car new). Sunroofs only add unnecessary weight. - Leather is a nice option to have if you can afford it and if someone can afford to buy a new car, they likely can afford leather. - Don't need bluetooth. Too busy driving to worry about interfacing with some electronic gizmo. - Unless you are a courier or taxi driver, a built in navigation system is not needed on an everyday basis. But it could come in handy when you travel out of town to new places. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. Looks like I was mistaken when I wrote this. I missed the part where he said he was operating an LLC (Limited Liability Company) and that his income from his businesses were passed through to the owner of the LLC (himself). So everything he said was correct. If the government wanted to take more taxes from him, he would have less money to reinvest back into his businesses. Face it, the business community has no confidence in Obama. As long as Obama continues to push his Wealth Redistribution agenda, no new venture capital will be spent and things will only get worse for those who needs jobs. The USA would have been much better off had the Democrats chosen Billary to be their Grand Poobah. Do not expect any positive changes in the unemployment numbers while Obummer is in office. BTW ... this whole thread of a millionaire congressman whining that he is just barely getting by on $600k/year is a complete joke. Nowhere in the interview did he say such a thing. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. There is a reason why the AK-47 is the most popular firearm in the history of this planet. Not only is it inexpensive to make, but it is remarkably reliable. It may not be the most powerful firearm, it may not be the most accurate. But in jungles of Southeast Asia/Africa where mud and water are plentiful or through the deserts of the Middle East/North Africa where dust and sand are plentiful ... when push comes to shove the AK-47 can usually be relied on to actually work when you need it to work. There is a big difference between cheap as in inexpensive to manufacture? versus cheap as in poor quality? English is a funny language the way the same word has two completely different meanings depending on the context in which it is used. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. Exactly where in this interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNIQvxo0JT0 does he say that he is barely getting by on $600k? He does say things that do not necessarily make sense, things like taking money out of the corporation in the form of a salary only to have to reinvest it back in the corporation. No way you are going to pay yourself a salary subjecting yourself to higher income taxes only to put the money back into the business. If you want to reinvest in the business the money stays in the business. But nowhere in the interview does he say anything about barely getting by. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. Obama was elected in 2008 with his "Yes we can" turn America into a socialist society. The questions that remains is why did he wait so long since taking office to start moving towards his grad scheme of wealth redistribution? Is he really serious this time? or is this nothing more than Obama hitting the campaign trail early with the usual promises of socialist bliss. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. Looks like a "Bonus Day" was just granted. That could have hurt. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. Got to love those foreign made firearms that still work after they have been soaked in water and dragged through the mud. There is a reason why AK-47s are still popular in many parts of the world. Where else can you find a product that is inexpensive to manufacture and yet ultra reliable. You certainly can not find inexpensive and reliable products coming out of some "We love Obama, he is our Class Warfare Savior" unionized shop. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
