Don't like the opera. It's not my thing. I don't know what they are saying half the time, no not half time, all the time. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Say to Michelle for the rest of us low life commoners the next time you rub elbows with her and the rest of Chicago's ruling elitist class. We know you are having the time of your life at the opera every time you look down on us common folk. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

And our resident Leftist academic continues to ignore the fact that since society has begun there always has and always will be a "Ruling Class". Maybe our resident Leftist academic isn't actually ignoring this reality. Maybe our resident Leftist academic just does not want us commoners to know that he himself is very highly connected up there in the societal food chain. While the rest of us commoners are all living in the soon to be utopian socialist "Everyone is equal, equally screwed" world lining up for our shoes and rations of food, known that our resident Leftist academic will continue to be rubbing elbows with his fellow "Ruling Class" elitists. He has already boosted to us in the past of his connections to the White House and occasionally tells us of his excursions to the opera. I don't know very many commoners who get to rub elbows with Michelle at the opera, but our resident Leftist academic knows many who do. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

We all are ... There is a really good documentary on Dean Potter from a couple of years ago. Many people may have already seen it. But it is worth the watch if people have not seen it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsagruTOXA8 In some people's eyes Dean Potter is suicidal (similar to Jeb). But in this documentary Dean shows us he does not have a death wish. He has a life wish that just happens to be more extreme that most of us mortals could ever understand. Since the beginning of civilization people associated with wealth have always had more opportunities than those who do not have no wealth (or not as much wealth). I realize there is a huge "Wealth Transfer" movement going on right now with people on the Left. But even if this Wealth Transfer agenda was to succeed where all rich people would be forever eliminated and a utopian socialist dream world where everyone was equal was to surface, people would still not be equal and there would still be two or more classes of people on this planet. Are we to believe under this new "Wealth Transfer" movement that the masses would still have the same luxuries that their "Ruling Class" would have? ROFLMAO ... funny how Kim Jong Il can live the high life while everyone under him in his "Everyone is Equal Society" exists in poverty. But don't forget, he/she who dies with the most toys, is still dead. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Warning: This Occupy Atlanta video is mind-blowing...

You were right, I did just waste 10 minutes of my life. But you did warn me. There is some pretty strong Kool Aid being circulated at that assembly. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
I really do not want to put words in his mouth, but maybe he has yet to find the support he needs to build the proper landing pad (or whatever it is you want to call it). It will need to be something similar to a ski jump ramp and maybe it is just too expensive to make for such a "Once in a lifetime, how do we protect our asses from being sued if it does not work" kind of project. Or maybe Jeb is either now recognizing it was never a good idea to begin with or always knew it was not a good idea and was just looking for some exposure. Either way, he has been making some cool jumps this summer based on some of his recent YouTube submissions. If Jeb stays alive and continues to make his cool jumps I sure won't be criticizing him. Live the dream. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

There was a forward pass that called back a Springbok's tri. It was super close. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I watched my recorded Australia/South Africa quarter-final game last night and overall South Africa was the better team in a very very sloppy game. But the rugby gods (call them the refs if you must) were not thinking very kindly towards the Springboks. However that pass calling back the tri was extremely close and you need to remember the officials do need to make it in real time. I have seen the officials go to video replay in this tournament when trying to determine if the ball touched the ground on a tri, but I do not know if they went to video replay on that forward pass. I don't think they did. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I stayed up late last night and watched the 2nd half of the All Blacks versus Pumas game after the F1 race. New Zealand eventually proved to be the better team, but the game was much closer than the final score. Oh and yes late in the New Zealand/Argentina game they mentioned that Australia did beat South Africa so I can't watch the game later today not knowing who wins. But I still don't know the final score. haha It does not matter. Even if the game is not the best, I am still enjoying the World Cup. These rugby players are tough MOFOs. I already knew rugby was a tough game (I played it for four years when I was younger), but the games at the elite World Cup level has been awesome to watch. Oh and yes Wales has played well. They could very well find themselves in the finals and prior to watching last night's All Blacks/Pumas game I just assumed New Zealand would walk all over most in the competition. But apparently I was mistaken on how good the competition actually is. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Just pointing out that the USA is already more socialist than they may think they are. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Is welfare in the US Constitution? LOL I guess the USA is more socialistic than your northern neighbor. Put our less than efficient public healthcare system on the back burner for a second and hear me out. 1) In Canada you can collect about 42 weeks of UI at a maximum of $400/week (in some Provinces with traditionally high unemployment you can get a few extra weeks of UI). But in the USA you can collect up to 99 weeks of UI at 36% of your weekly wage (it's not capped? maybe it is?). 2) In the USA you can get food stamps. In Canada? What are food stamps? 3) Medicare? Medicaid? What the hell is that? In Canada when I am sick I go to the doctor, but wait I don't have a doctor. So I line up for hours on end at the clinic or line up at the hospital to wait to see someone who hates their job and tries to process as many lemmings as they can as fast as they can so that they can get home as soon as they can. Looks like the USA is the more socialistic country of the two. Of course Canada's economy while not firing on all cylinders thanks to our largest customer being a total basket case at this time thanks to their out of control government spending, but our economy in Canada is actually not too bad right now because Canadians on average really are not in that much debt. Maybe the USA would be doing better if they stopped spending money they did not have and were not such a socialist cesspool. I mean come on, if you want your people to start working, why do you continue to give them free money for two years to sit on their asses? Didn't you get the memo? Want to stop your children from sponging off of you? stop feeding them cheese. ROFLMAO. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

There is a big game going on live right now. A quarter final game between South Africa and Australia. I am planning on watching the F1 race from Japan which starts less than one hour from now instead of the rugby game. But I am recording this rugby game and will watch it tomorrow. This rugby world cup tournament has been awesome. I am a fan of American football, but these world cup rugby players are tough MOFO's. Good stuff I tell you. Looks like I missed this thread when it first came around, or when you bumped it, or when you bumped it again, or when you bumped it yet again. I believe I am a "None of the above" poster. Whatever normal is, I assure you, I am not it. Then again I am willing to bet that neither are you. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

To all unemployed Texans who have marketable job skills (especially in the oil patch) look to Alberta Canada if you are having trouble finding work in your state. In Alberta you will find many things similar to Texas. Of course it is not 100% the same. Substitute TX's insanely hot summers and instead insert Alberta's incredibly cold winters (does it really matter, insanely hot is just as insane as our cold, they are both insane). Substitute TX's insane attitude towards football and instead insert Alberta's love of hockey (we also like and support football too, but are no where near as talented and could use some good coaching on how to become better). Finally substitute the dislike many (not all) Americans have towards Texas with the dislike many (not all) Canadians have with Alberta and Texans who have marketable job skills will find a new friendly home with their northern cousin. However I should warn you, we are not perfect. We like people who take responsibility for their own actions. People looking to sponge off the government do need to apply elsewhere. I should know. I grew up in a part of the world where sponging off the government was the norm and the good people of Alberta taught me that hard work (while not perfect) does pay dividends. Maybe if more people worked as hard as the Germans, worked as hard as hard as Albertans then they would not feel the need to feel like victims of the world. Whoever told you life would be easy, was clearly lying to you. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Forget the NFL, who's excited about College Football?
CanuckInUSA replied to skymama's topic in The Bonfire
Nebraska sets a school record tonight. Their largest comeback win, coming back from 21 points. I am kind of surprised it was only 21 points. Then again I guess the Cornhuskers rarely find themselves down. Dang I hate Nebraska ... of course I hate Ohio State even more. LOL ... Go Big XII ... wait isn't it the Big X now? but there is already a Big X hence the reason why they continue to call themselves the Big XII despite only being 10 teams. Maybe next season they will be calling themselves the Big IX. Oh confusing days in the NCAA ... but what do you expect from (my favorite football league) who does not use a proper playoff system. Looks like A&M beat Tech. On another front, I don't particularly like the Cornhuskers (in fact I very much dislike them), but I also don't like the Buckeyes. But great comeback by Nebraska to take the lead in the 4th QTR. Of course the game is not over and I definitely do not want to eat crow, at least not yet. Back to the Nebraska/Ohio State game. No bigger than a 600 as a so called starter bike (preferably a little smaller). A 600 is plenty fast. LOL ... but don't confuse me as some bike nazi. If someone really wants to kill themselves they should be able to do it just as long as they do not take anyone else with them. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I was watching tape of a historic hockey game (Sept 28th 1972 from Moscow Russia) and certain images from 40 years ago just are not seen today in the modern era of the NHL. This picture seen here is not from this Sept 28th 1972 date (if I am not mistaken this picture was from the 1973 or 1974 season), but it was from the same era. Don't get me wrong. The players today are bigger, stronger and faster. But there was something special about hockey back then. Or maybe it's just my lost youth screaming out at me ... haha Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Germany is a modern day success story. Germans are educated and they work hard. Two things some Americans (as well as people from many other countries) should emulate. But there is a reason why Germany does not run around getting involved in wars (LOL well at least modern wars). I think you should consult some history books if you are not aware why Germany lays pretty low these days with their military. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Oklahoma travels to Dallas and stomps all over the Long Horns 55-17. I know you are an Aggies fan, not a Longhorns person, but dang are the Sooners really this good or is TX over rated? Maybe a little of both. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=312810251 Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
I am on record slamming both sides when I see corruption and waste. But I see you are still blaming GWB for everything. Too funny. There are many problems in this world, many problems on both sides of the fence. Too bad you are too partisan to see the corruption and the waste on your side of the fence and only focus on the problems on your opponents side. Far too many people do not know the difference between debt and deficit. The US Government has had an extremely large debt going back many decades and it only gets worse with it's annual deficits. Clinton briefly ran a few surpluses near the end of his 8 years as prez (good on him) but that was not enough to put a real dent in the US government's debt. Then GWB came along running massive deficits with his massive spending and the shit the fan in 2008. A new sheriff then came into town in 2009 to clean up the mess GWB left behind and what did this new sheriff do? He has only increased government spending exponentially to the point where now GWB looks like a fiscal conservatives (and we all know GWB was NOT a fiscal conservative). The US Government has a massive spending problem. Until this massive spending problem is addressed with massive cuts (this includes cuts to military spending), nothing will change. Obummer and the rest of the jokers who earn their living in Washington DC need to come up with a plan to implement massive spending cuts to get the deficit under control. Once the deficit is under control then new taxes can be looked at to address the US government's debt. But raising new taxes now will only result in more spending. Everywhere you look (it's not just the US) there are politicians who are looking for new ways to increase their spending. It's out of control and there are simply not enough rich people in this world to tax to pay for all the out of control government spending. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Ready for a laugh? Finally the WS protesters' list o' demands.
CanuckInUSA replied to Lefty's topic in Speakers Corner
It wasn't the Canadians who burned the White House down 200 years ago. Canada did not exist 200 years ago. It was a bunch of Brits who crossed the pond who decided to burn down DC. Okay some of them might not have been born in the UK, but you get the picture. However it does appear that South Park was partially correct in this regard when they say "Blame Canada". Looks like a group in BC did want to stir up some shit on Wall Street and convinced enough people to join them (not everyone in BC hates America, but there is a large contingent of American haters in that ever so socialistic province). I still have to laugh at all the "I hate Corporations, all corporations must die" protesters who gladly give Apple tons of their money. Apple is a true American corporate success story and it would not exist giving us these forward thinking products if the protesters got their way.
