  1. I just finished watching Mr Zappa's testimony. I sure was not thinking that this thread belonged in SC, but Mr Zappa's testimony here just illustrates how out of touch politicians and their bureaucrats are with the rest of us who live in reality. RIP Frank ... you were one of a kind. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. Calling all fans of Frank Zappa. What was your favorite song(s)? I think mine was "Cosmik Debris" though there are many others. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. I do not know who the driver is, but in this video of someone driving their Boxster at Mid Ohio it appears that they make only two gear changes every lap (faster forward to a little past the 30 second mark to not let the leading GT3 Cup car confuse you). Anyway they pretty much stay in 3rd gear for most of the lap and only briefly shift to 4th on a straight before shifting back down to 3rd for the rest of the lap. Even myself at my local track, I only make 6 gear changes the entire lap. Obviously changing into the right gear is important, but in the grand scheme of things it is not that big of a deal. 4. I have to ask what you know about 911s? It's a car with a rich racing heritage, a car that does not take that many modifications to turn it into a full fledged race car and a car that is driven by more than just Wall Street peeps (spend some time at the race tracks and you will realize this). Ignore the cell phone yappers, latte drinking texting dweebs, they drive all sorts of different cars not just 911s. Do you even track your car(s)? If not, what do you know about "Driving like a man". Of course what does "Driving like a man have to do with anything". She may not be the best race car driver, but I would be willing to bet that Danica Patrick could drive the socks off of both of us, and I have reasonably good experience on the track. 5. Someone let 'Zon into the thread. You're a mod; You could have stopped it. Someone could introduce Godwin's Law into the thread ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. How many youngsters would have the patience to teach the older driver? Would you be like this youngster? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. I would let you drive mine. I am not overly protective. After all it is a car and it was made to be driven. In fact, not counting learning how to drive it at the limit, my car is not that hard to drive at all. You just need to remember one very important rule about it. It is actually safer to be on the gas exiting the corner than to be taking a corner with no throttle applied. Follow that basic rule (be on the gas in the corners) and you will be fine. 8. I don't think a human can out perform an automatic transmission in a straight line. It's exiting the corners where the manual transmission is needed as you want to have control of the torque selection. Also, paddle shifters are total overkill for the public roads, but paddle shifters shine on the race track. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. All I have driven since 1990 is stick (3 different vehicles in that time). Absolutely, someone needs to drive if I can't drive. Not a problem. Heck they would even have a choice as to which one to learn on. Either a five speed '99 Jeep Wrangler or a six speed '97 Porsche 911. Question is do they want to learn how to "Heal/Toe". I can't "Heal/Toe" in the Jeep even if my life depended on it (the pedals are too far away and the center console also gets in the way). But "Heal/Toe'ing" in the 911 is not hard ... heck it's made to "Heal/Toe". Actually they should probably learn to drive both vehicles. Please don't make me laugh. There is however one hybrid I would love to get my hands on, except that it is not available for the public buy and even if it was I could not afford it. My dream hybrid Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. They used to say there are two certainties in life: 1) Death 2) Taxes soon a 3rd certainty was added: 3) You can always count on a yellow flag in the closing laps of a NASCAR race. But I will also add two more certainties: 4) I will never buy/read a book from Christine O'Donnelly. 5) I could care less about Piers Morgan and the "Celebrity News Network". carry on ... 11. President Obama could approve the Keystone pipeline and this would then allow the US to import more oil from a stable trading partner (Canada) and not rely so much on oil from politically unstable countries in the Middle East and South America. But does Obama do this? No he does not. Why? Bachmann is like all the other politicians. Someone who will say anything for votes and she is only following the lead of the existing Pinocchio who presently occupies the White House. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  13. You are going to have to wait for Kennedy to respond back to your trolling attempts as to whether or not he thinks this is an organized attack from any union leadership. From the limited information I have seen on this incident, it looks like one person (who may or may not have had an accomplice) was responsible for the vandalism that then came extremely close to becoming a murder. Plus despite the calls by some for people to adopt an alternate reality where this was actually the Tea Party who was willing to murder a man all in the name of firing up their base, the more realistic likelihood was that the perpetrator(s) is a supporter of unions and may even be in a union though which one I have no clue since the story does not go into those sort of details. Or is "Scab" scratched into the victim's vehicle just not good enough for you? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Hey moron ... I am agnostic ... and I will never ever drink from the same koolaid that you drink from. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. No shit sherlock. Did you just figure this out? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. It just never ends does it. It obviously was NOT a Leftist who scratched "Scab" on the non-unionized business owners vehicle and then fired a shot once confronted that was inches away from killing this business owner. It was the Tea Party who almost committed murder all in the name of firing up their base. Are you for real? Good Grief Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. I don't know very many anti-union people who would scratch "Scab" on the side of a non-unionized business owner's vehicle. Do you? If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it is a duck. obtuse [uhb-toos,-tyoos] adjective 1. not quick or alert in perception, feeling, or intellect; not sensitive or observant; dull. 2. not sharp, acute, or pointed; blunt in form. 3. 19. We all have a little troll in us. Some are just in denial of their trolling escapades. Now go make me a sammach because Michelle Bachmann and Christine O'Donnell are lesbian lovers while Barack Obama is a staunch advocate of small government and free markets. Plus Obama thinks the rich need another tax cut. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. Since when was a business owner ever a scab? Idiots ... Idiots who are resorting to violence. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. - Faaaaaaaaggot - Get an abortion - Abortions should be free at Walmart - All teenage girls should be required to get abortions - Gay people celebrate 911 like it's their ####in birthday - 911 is like Christmas for gay people - All Jews deserved to die in the holocaust - Ha ha ha I'm just kidding, everyone knows the holocaust didn't happen - Steve Jobs owns a PC - Where are you going? 24. I have a feeling that Rick Perry has already been chosen. Unless of course the GOP want to play the same game the Democrats have played in the past and select Bachman instead. Ron Paul is not perfect, but he makes far too much sense for the GOP to ever select him. It's not just Fox News who have snubbed Ron Paul. It's pretty much every media outlet out there. One big 16 month long puppet show. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. Bill Marher is not even in the same league as Colbert (IMHO the best) and Stewart (more often than not, very funny). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
